  1. Wow. So, with one year of success they failed to completely gain unfettered fan loyalty by selling out every seat for every game. You sure showed me. ****ing ridiculous argument my guy.
  2. Wow. You sure mentioned something that is completely irrelevant. Care to stay on topic now? Or is our conversation done?
  3. The hope of the offseason was the sale of the team. The Pohlads ****ed that up. The grade is easily an F. We don't have to skirt around the issue. This team both did nothing to move forward their terrible ownership situation nor improve on the field. It's an F.
  4. Let's just remind ourselves why we're in this little back and forth: You went and said something stupid like this. And now you can't admit that you said something so stupid out of pride. Just admit you didn't know attendance went up massively in 2019 and I can stop pointing out how stupid all your arguments are.
  5. Why would I need to prove something that I'm not even saying? My point was the Pohlads are terrible business people, that they killed their own revenue potential with massive cuts, and that they also happened to steal $350 million from the public, and the welfare queens should be ostercized. You're out here defending the killing of your favorite team because...god knows why. Blaming the poor attendance on Minnesotans not supporting the billionaires that stole their money and offer them a terrible entertainment product. Because prudent financial decisions must be undertaken by billionaires? Idk man. You sound like one of those weirdos constantly clapping for Elon Musk on Twitter.
  6. Yeah. This projection system seems out of whack. Vegas of 71.5 - 73.5 seems way more in line with the talent on this team. I'm even being nice when I'm saying I think they're going to win 74.
  7. You're doing it again. You're implying that Twins fans are unique. As if the Pohalds have a burden of dealing with those unfair front running Minnesota sports fans, and if the Minnesotans were just nicer to them they wouldn't have to cut payroll. They should have sold the team like they said they were going to. No one should feel sorry for them. Pohalds should pay back Minnesota that money. Those welfare queens have had it too good for too long and they should really pull their own weight.
  8. Sorry that I possess basic reading comprehension and made an inference based on your comments. So, you just want to say PEOPLE, in general, are front running and cheap? Color me skeptical, but that being your newly revised statement, how does that change anything? It's still their job to get fans in the doors and maintain interest. And now we see a collapse in revenues, fan interest, and they were unable to sell their business for the price they wanted. Seems like they really screwed the pooch. Should we continue to blame the fans?
  9. Do you think there are secondary effects to a team that has a higher attendance? Do you think maybe there are chain events? Or is it a very simple, hard formula and that the Twins are right to have cut salary after 2023 because they ONLY lost about $17.5 million in game day revenue and that $17.5M is smaller than the $25M they "saved"?
  10. That's just anthropology. Humans go to watch an entertainment product that is entertaining, and if the product has a long history of sucking, they won't be entertained, and thus won't go. I don't know why you're acting as if this is unique to the Twins. As if there's some great challenge to the Twin Cities and the Pohlads are just unfortunate souls that can't convince those greedy minnesotan proletariat to come to the ballpark the public paid for.
  11. A well managed business will try to grow their business, seeing success and then capitalizing on it. Imagine if they added another 350K to their attendance after '23 instead of what they did? Suddenly we're looking at a $30+ million annual disparity. And imagine if they did that for multiple seasons in an effort to grow an actual fan base? Like Tom said, that basically has compounding effects. Why should the people of Minneapolis be loyal to the Twins? The Pohalds stole $350 million from the people of Minneapolis to help build their stadium. And in return the Pohlads haven't given the city jack ****. They had a decent season in '23 and decided to immediately kill it. Instead of blaming common folk, maybe you should blame the organization, and the Pohlads. Let's just be honest. This organization has been an embarrassment since their short stretch of success from 2002-2006. 20 years, only 4 appearances in the Division Series, and only one win in those appearances. Yet it's the fans fault for being front runners and cheap? Sure.
  12. They increased attendance by 350K that season, and that is the highest attendance since the new stadium honeymoon ended in 2013. So, respectfully, what the hell do you mean? The Twins were actually quite screwed by the pandemic. The front office decided to keep pushing for the 2020 season, and we probably would have seen quite the atmosphere in Target Field that season.
  13. I look forward to this team having 1.5 Million in attendance and the idiots in charge being baffled as to why.
  14. And "safe" he was. He made the majors, but his obvious lack of athleticism always had a ceiling on him, so while he's one of only 4 of the top 10 picks that year that have made the big leagues, that's about his limit. Maybe he can surprise and have a nice 4-5 seasons as a decent utility player, but he's never going to be a 3 WAR player. That much is clear.
  15. Lol, I was just about to say this, but sarcastically. The fact his dad is a coach means absolutely nothing. I don't know why anyone ever mentions it. Fans generally get way too hyped for prospects. Brooks Lee was never going to be a star. He had a high floor, a great chance of quickly making the big leagues, which was his only real selling point when he was drafted in the first round. There were always concerns about him from day one, and we now are seeing why. This is why you should get information from sources other than Twins fan sites and the Twins themselves. It's OK to get information from people hyped about prospects, but it's helpful to pour cold water on that enthusiasm from time to time as well. (this advice extends past just baseball, for obvious reasons) The next prospect that I'm afraid is going to really disappoint fans on this site is probably going to be Gonzalez. Not that he doesn't have real skills, but he's not a top prospect for multiple good reasons. He's a good prospect that might be able to eventually hit .280 in the majors with some pop and bad defense. A good 2.5 WAR player is nothing to be disappointed in, but it's inevitable when you're expecting an All-Star.
  16. Why should fans be blindly positive towards a team that doesn't warrant it? An inability to criticize something is not fandom or loyalty. That's sycophancy. I see someone hasn't ever had to deal with a busted sewage pipe.
  17. The Pipeline article pipeline has already been established. The Pipeline pipeline will remain until morale improves.
  18. Obviously impossible to predict Stearns thoughts. But Mets fans are kind of done with Vientos. It's a pretty crowded roster right now and he can't really play anywhere. He needs to be just fully committed to 1B and prove passable there. But because he's slow as hell and bad on defense, his value is so much lower than you would expect for someone capable of a 30 HR season. But he should be on a team with fewer expectations so he can get full time play and try to recapture his swagger from 2024. I think Mets fans would be with a return of someone like Morris, and like someone else suggested, some low level prospect with no hype around them but a bit of hope. Mets pitching scouting has been exceptional these last couple years so could see them identifying some arm they like. Baty is a different story. Mets fans like him and his defense is adequate to good at both 2nd and 3rd, and many think they will get him reps in LF to insure against a Carson Benge rookie flop. His versatility is a big boon and fans have grown to like him quite a lot. I think the front office feels the same about both players.
  19. I'd be hesitant to agree with you, but Brooks is just so bad on both sides of the game that I think this is the worst idea. I think I'd still probably start him in the minors but as long has an ops of 600 (or peripherals suggesting it) I'd keep aggressively promoting him. This front office just really ****ing blows man.
  20. Bichette has an opt out after one season. But otherwise agree and Mets fans agree. Vientos seems like he has no role on the squad but if he somewhere like Minnesota he could get a lot of playing time and hit 30 HR. It'd be with terrible defense and frustrating at bats though. Would have been a good move instead of signing Josh Bell. But with Bell can't see the Twins wanting him now.
  21. Not one of the major ones, but some dude online puts out a list, and it's wildly different than the big outlets. Puts some more names on radar. He likes the Twins pitching prospects right now, with all of Hill, Soto, and Prielipp on there. https://tjstats.ca/2026/01/27/2026-top-100-prospects/
  22. Mets aren't really a fit at all. They have plenty of major league pitching depth and an actual pitching pipeline that has a lot of good arms in the high minors. They were a fit when Joe Ryan was being discussed, being someone in the front of the rotation instead of the back. That being said, the Mets might trade Vientos for very little in return. A good RP-bound arm with many options, like Festa or even Morris. I just don't think the Twins would pay enough for Baty, which I think Stearns would require a real prospect, like Houston AND Festa.
  23. Lawlar BBTV is pretty much useless because it often says something ridiculous like this. Compare him to Alan Roden. I kind of like Roden, but he's in a somewhat similar situation to Lawlar. He's a post hype "prospect" that murdered AAA and struggled in very limited MLB opportunities. But whereas Roden is down to his last chance to impress, now 26 years old, Lawlar doens't turn 24 until the second half of this season. How is Alan Roden's "value" 3x that of Jordan Lawlar? BBTV should only be used as one small tool, not a basis for trade proposals.
  24. Yes. But Tigers have always been the team most willing to spend when they think they're ready to field a contender, and they not only have a better TEAM right now, with good young core players, but they also have a better farm system with near MLB ready top prospects. If their front office thinks Riley Greene, Max Clark, McGonigle, Colt Keith, and Kerry Carpenter are their core to build around, we could see consistent big spending to field good teams around them.
