  1. Both Miranda and Julien are out of options after this season. Come 2026 they're going to be in that unfortunate position of either being on a Major League roster or DFAd into obscurity. And unlike a bullpen arm, the churn through on poor fielding infielders is incredibly minimal. Essentially, their major league careers are done and they hold no value, if not negative value. Austin Martin at least has one more option year remaining. There's some value in that ability to send them up and down as needed. But, again, while he's technically able to play multiple positions he plays none of them well. Castro isn't a gold glover anywhere, but he at least holds his own. The same can't be said for Martin.
  2. They can't be blamed for the fact that they've finished top 5 in the AL in attendance exactly once in the last 14 seasons. It's everyone else's fault. 25th of 28 teams this year? Nothing the Pohlads can do. Yes, market differences are somewhat of an issue, and I fully expect a large jump in revenue sharing in the CBA, but that wouldn't fix 40% of the Twins's woes. 5%...maybe.
  3. You know how you get to play consistently at a position? You make yourself irreplaceable. And the Twins DON'T have an "anyone, anywhere" philosophy, and you can tell because only 4 players (Bride, Clemens, Lee and Castro) have been asked to play 5+ games at multiple positions. Sure seems like that number would be way higher if your criticism were accurate. Lee doesn't suck right now because he's been asked to play 2B, SS, and 3B. He sucks because he plays all those positions pretty poorly, he's slow as ****, and he has pretty lousy swing decisions. This isn't to say he can't improve, but I promise you it has absolutely nothing to do with the burden of playing one IF position instead of a different one.
  4. Martin could have been a decent major leaguer, but for the fact that he's another Twins player that can't play a competent defense at the major league level, making his 90 OPS+ pretty untenable.
  5. The bullpen, for how talented it is, isn't actually that great. It's sitting somewhere around 20th in the league in effectiveness and hasn't been better than league average since the emergence of the "dominant" Jax and Duran, so, yeah, I'm not worried at all about rebuilding that. Bullpens are still extremely overrated. Any decent GM can construct one on the fly that is as effective as the current Twins bullpen.
  6. Who is this mystical player that the Twins have failed to give a chance to develop? I keep hearing from people on this website that the Twins are at fault for refusing to give their young players a chance, and for the life of me I can't begin to guess who the hell they're referring to. Or is this your "let Larnach hit LHP!" soapbox again?
  7. I'm less concerned about his bat than the apparent reality that the Twins have another fairly lousy athlete on their hands. The Brewers are one of the best teams in baseball with a bounty of infielders that resemble Lee offensively. The thing is, they are also extremely good athletes that play great defense and run the bases well. Lee looks like another bust for that reason.
  8. Fun little bonus for Bader, he's due an extra 500K if he's traded if I'm understanding his contract bonuses correctly. Thinking he's happy to get traded for that reason.
  9. I think this is true, with the exception of relievers. Maybe I'm wrong but it just seems teams wildly overpay for relievers at the deadline as opposed to the offseason. Empty the bullpen now. Don't wait for the offseason. But I agree, don't truly entertain a trade for Ryan. The value won't be there.
  10. You can never let fear deter you from doing what you know is right. That's called cowardice.
  11. Hate that I was right about this team. But means it was pretty obvious before the season even started.
  12. If you think a few injuries or underperforming players are unexpected, I welcome you to your first year watching baseball.
  13. Lol There's no reason to fake hope in this move. Come on.
  14. Pete Alonso is a free agent again next season. But I also wouldn't want Ryan Clifford. I think he's a certain bust candidate.
  15. He had a great stretch when he first came over and has now resumed being Kody Clemens. This team has no depth so I don't care if he's playing but you'll excuse me if I'm not excited about someone that has a 0.260 OBP in his last hundred trips to the plate, to match his career rate. Yes, he has some power but he still sucks. I'm happy to see him on the team next season...if they do what's smart and do a bit of a rebuild for '27.
  16. Trade deadline is July 31st, so if they wait until August they probably wouldn't get anyone to answer their calls for obvious reasons.
  17. I assumed he'd be DFA'd by June 1st, and if we're being honest the only reason he hasn't is because the Twins organization is...lacking. He's hit 179/261/449 since June 1st. Fans shouldn't be so desperate that they're concocting ways to get him more playing time. Bad Times in Twins Territory.
  18. This is the point really. In the middle of a boring, uninspired season fans are provided an opportunity to theorize and envision a path to success.
  19. Just as an idea of how much the Twins are in the driver's seat in the RP market, if you exclude the contenders and pitchers not yet in arbitration, the Twins control 4 of the top 5 arms, as projected by in-season ZIPS. Name Team FIP Jhoan Duran MIN 2.26 Griffin Jax MIN 2.73 Brock Stewart MIN 2.77 Félix Bautista BAL 2.81 Danny Coulombe MIN 2.86 Aaron Bummer ATL 2.89 David Bednar PIT 3.01 Sell 2 or 3 and you're getting a really good return.
  20. There are many that think exactly that. I think they can recover and be ok again next season (woo-hoo) but I cannot envision them being a true contender. And many here would admit the same if they're being honest.
  21. It's worth asking. And I think Duran/Scott are fairly good comps in terms of top level talent going out. Painter is a consensus 3 year top 30 prospect, high-end potential arm, whereas the Padres received a 1 year consensus top 60 prospect. It's a big ask, and isn't going to happen, but nothing hurt by asking.
  22. Totally fair. Just trying to imagine what sort of level of "major league bat" they'd even be able to get back. Specifically on the Phillies, I don't see a single mlb ready bat that they'd be able to trade away.
