  1. I think you know what I mean. Every pitcher in the majors is unfortunately a big injury risk and he's spent 4 years now without any arm issues if I'm not mistaken? He had TJ in the minors, though right? I'm just saying, everyone carries risk and to focus on the incoming risk and just ignore the outgoing risk is disingenuous.
  2. And no one here is mentioning the risk they are selling. RP often burn bright and quick and then fade away. Duran's K-rate is down, his velo is down (slightly) and he's been suspiciously healthy for 4 seasons now. There's nothing to say he's not a prime candidate to explode and become another footnote in the annals of "elite" closers.
  3. That's not how arbitration works. Unless we're misunderstanding each other. He is due a raise next season ($7-8M est) and then another in 2027 ($12-15M est). A team in even a soft rebuild, which you don't like to admit but IS the reality, doesn't really care to spend those resources on a closer.
  4. You have to do both. Not ALL the players obviously, but this roster just isn't good enough and pretending that a manager swap would fix all ails is just sticking your head in the ground. This team started the year with DaShawn Keirsey AND Mickey Gasper on it's opening day roster, and that was with pretty limited injuries out of Spring Training. Royce Lewis, was there anyone else on the IL out of Spring Training? Brooks Lee maybe? (who wasn't ready either and should have been getting seasoning in AAA)
  5. This comes as a shock to my closet of Twins attire and rack of twins caps collected over 40 years. To the hundreds of games I attended in the metrodome and the dozens more in Target Field, including 40+ games in that debut season. Sorry that I determined one year ago after the Twins decision neither to buy or sell that the organization was terribly run and that I would no longer support it until ownership and senior leadership were changed or at least got their **** together. Sorry that I don't have blind loyalty to a billionaire and their investment asset.
  6. Don't disagree. But you can't compare a prospect against what a different, lesser prospect ultimately became and complain because you didn't get the lesser prospect. That's all I'm saying.
  7. News flash. This team stinks and will again next year. Duran would have been paid a proper closer salary of $12-15 million in 2027 so it's entirely reasonable to trade him now.
  8. Ignorant is a very respectful insult. And almost always accurate. Ignoramus is one of my favorite names, second only to dingus. This year's numbers are somewhat inflated by an outlier HR/FB rate. That GB rate is back to incredible though. I think selling was the right idea. I think the return is good, but I do understand the disappointment. You'd have hoped the pivot from Painter (was never happening) could have brought in one more high potential prospect in their organizational 10-15 range, but the top of the trade looks pretty good. good. Solid B.
  9. I'm not concerned what a bunch of rubes on the internet think.
  10. Outside of last seasons there is some truth to that. Jax has great peripherals, the second best FIP of all pitchers with at least 65 IP the last 3 seasons, and he has come in and helped his team a lot, 2nd in Shut Downs (appearances in which a RP increases their team's win percentage 5%+). But he also has the second most Melt Downs (win percentage for team decreased 5%+). I would suggest Brock Stewart is completely unreliable though and should be traded today. No team should count on his long term health, but him being healthy now makes him enticing to contenders I would think.
  11. With respect to player relations, I'm more concerned about Griffin Jax and every player's relationship with the skipper. Not only did they refuse to give him a tryout for the rotation, but then yesterday's bullpen management clearly had Jax very annoyed, to say the least. Jax almost has to be traded, a disgruntled employee isn't one you wanna keep around if you're already determined to make changes.
  12. The Royals received a 25 year old pitcher with a 5 ERA in the majors that had never been a top 100 Prospect. You can't look at what Ragans became, have to look at what he was at the time of the trade . On this measuring stick, they did well.
  13. Yeah. Why anyone would care about human chess players. They can't beat a computer. Clearly that means we should value the computer. Screw writers. Screw coders. Screw artists. Screw paralegals. Long live the AI revolution and the 1% that no longer have to pay those *******s.
  14. It is arguable. Comparing their Fangraphs prospect reports. And then a really solid middle reliever under control that can pitch a lot of innings (but sadly out of options).
  15. If there's a new owner, and if they're willing to operate at a loss for a team that is really bad the last two seasons and has a lot of work to do in order to compete. I think this is a B grade trade. Not incredible and with 24 hours left on the clock and no rush to trade I would have kept the lines open. Buy the thought process was good. As a Mets fan, I hope he blows up and completely sucks in Philly.
  16. Twins shouldn't expect nearly as much for the rental of Coulombe but 2 near ready mid tier prospects is possible. Butto was the big shock, but Giants aren't ready to give up on the season completely so it makes sense that they demanded a current arm in return.
  17. This is why emptying the bullpen is appropriate. Betting on a reliever being good in two seasons is almost always a bad bet. SELL, SELL, SELL! Seriously, looking at what the Giants got for Tyler Rogers just now, for a rental, Twins would be foolish not to trade at least 3 arms.
  18. The Mets just paid a LOT for a rental of a RP. The market is HOT and the Twins should take advantage of the high cost of RP and sell off all of Duran, Jax, Stewart, Topa, and Coulombe.
  19. I know Twins fans like to think the organization is well respected and they treat their players well...but I feel like that's just marketing much like Falvey's reputation and the Pitching Pipeline.
  20. Strong disagree. He's on pace for 450 PAs which is what should always be expected from a 4th OF. Also, he earned more playing time. Had he come out with a 650 OPS, I think Larnach would have been asked to play a lot more in the field.
  21. I've been ****ing on that hideous thing from opening day. Adopting a stupid gimmick from the start reeks of desperation to find a club identity. A gimmick is fine, but has to be organic and earned. The backup catcher buying something from Amazon is the exact opposite of that.
  22. I was told by multiple people how signing Bader was a waste of resources because DaShawn Keirsey was ready to contribute. I think those people have given proper mea culpa on that terrible take.
  23. That's the sad part. He's only 83rd percentile in sprint speed and his defense is...pretty good. He was NEVER deserving of a spot, and like someone else just said, him being on the roster to start the season epitomizes the lack of depth on this team and why it was obvious from the start that this team wasn't going anywhere.
