  1. I would be good with either.... Would fit nicely into the rotation. Would clearly depend on what kind of return they would need. Although there is not likely an "ace" to be had there is still some pitchers that could help us out there on the trade market as well as FA market... The front office is likely working on Ryu and Donaldson right now which would determine what still needs to be done. We are fine... the sky is not falling....
  2. Evidently folks don't understand how the FA market works. Top end FA are going to go to top teams in Large markets or go to places that they have history or interest in .... Baumgarner to Arizona because his horses are there... Wow. Front office is working to try to land the talent but if the agent and or player doesn't think it is a fit they are going to go elsewhere. There is a reason why players tend not to come to MN.. past has been $ but also the spring weather... Likely going to need to spin a trade for a starter and use our depth in the minor league to fill the gaps or to be part of the trade. Folks this is the reality and has been for years.. getting pissed at the Front office for not getting Cole, Strasburg, etc is pointless and beyond what anyone in that position is going to be able to do. Sucks but is true....
  3. As 5th starters you go to your depth to develop starters. Then you go to Smeltzer, Grateral, etc.... Spend the money on a high end pitcher that can help the front of the rotation and let the prospects take care of the 5th spot. How are we ever going to develop pitchers at the major league level if we don't give them a shot?
  4. May want to check your stats... Per baseball reference. Dobnak had ... 28.1 innings pitched... 9 appearances 5 starts ERA 1.59 and whip of 1.129... Would love to find a Ryu to head the staff but Dobnak at the 5 is going to be fine.
  5. Yuck.... please no. Lewis just around the corner to play short... put Polanco at 3rd where he should be fine and his defense would be fine. Don't panic folks. Donaldson would be fine as he could go over to first if needed and Sano to DH after next year. Biggest need is Bumgarner.... period. Get it done guys we need that top of rotation guy that can beat someone in the playoffs.... overspend please.
  6. Only way I would take on Price for that "price" is kind of like the NBA trades.. will take that bad contract if there is something that comes with it.... Price and one of the killer B's would do it. Send Rosario back to them with a low level quality prospect.....
  7. Nice clean article and pretty much right on target. I tell my baseball freinds that Twin's are going to have a tough time advancing in the playoffs unless they get an ace. They are actively romancing Bumgarner... and Ryu. Everyone in baseball knew we weren't getting Cole or Strasburg. Not sure why the negative nellies are even more negative. We signed 2 good FA pitchers.. just happens they were our own. Still a trade for a young quality arm is more likely than anything and do not forget we have several quality arms in the minor leaguers... that is more like what we are going to be doing for the future. Stop thinking we are going to "outspend" the Goliath spending teams... just has never happened and never will. It's okay.. it's life in a small market town.
  8. #1... Trade Eddie Rosario, Miguel Sano, Jordan Balazovic and Nick Gordon to the Boston Red Sox for OF Mookie Betts and LHP David Price ...... NO WAY!!!!!!! Redsox do immediately if offered.... #2.... 1B C.J. Cron ($4 million, arb 3) Yep 3B Miguel Sano ($2.65 million, arb 2) Yep INF Ehire Adrianza ($1.3 million, arb 4) Yep OF Eddie Rosario ($4.19 million, arb 2) Yep OF Byron Buxton ($1.75 million, arb 2) Yep SP Jose Berrios ($620,000, arb 1) Yep RP Taylor Rogers ($1.525 million, arb 2) Yep RP Trevor May ($900,000, arb 3) Yep RP Sam Dyson ($5 million, arb 4) Goner #3 As stated by someone... not going to happen for that number 36 "may" get us 2 years... more likely 50 million for 3 years.... I would still do that.... #4 Sign RHP Sergio Romo for one year, $3 million... if he would take that we should do it.... # 5 Sign Kyle Barraclough for one year, $1 million... Nah... have too many young arms to shuttle back and forth... # 6 Trade OF Akil Baddoo and 2B/3B/OF Travis Blankenhorn to the Rockies for RHP Jon Gray.... As stated by someone.. in a heartbeat if they would do... not likely. They would be wanting pitching coming back.... Would depend on what they would want.... Duran and one of the two? I do... Abritration eligable this and next year and FA in '22... Has Ace stuff... maybe here he puts it together....
  9. Plan by Me ... Strasburg... going to be tough to get ... likely 6 years 30 mil per....need that Ace and he is that. Professional, doesn't get rattled. Health risk a bit but think he is the guy... Odo ..... 17 mil 3 years..... should be good as he has stated he likes it here... Pineda.... showed he is back... owes us... should be fairly reasonable... 2 years at 11 mil is what some have stated... the Three would cost at these rates 58 mil to the payroll... not cheap but do believe it puts us in a good spot. Would love to see if we could get Mad Bum instead of either ODO or Pineada but ....
  10. Grandal is not going to take a backup catcher role... mute point. Twins will use in house guy or find a career backup that provides good defense. Don't overthink the room.
  11. As pretty much the Theme here... ALL IN in getting top end pitching. Need to sign one of the top stud pitchers. Of course Cole would be mine and everyone's priority. Love Rendon but not at the cost of not getting the best pitchers on the market. Our lineup is fine as is....
  12. Need to BREAK the bank on an ace and if possible 2. If that means trading a top minor leaguer so be it. Our everyday lineup is great the way it is. We need top end pitching to go anywhere beyond Division winners... Which was great but.... Beating the Astro's or Yankees will take Studs at the top of our rotation. Which we now lack.
  13. MOST important is Cole ... give him a blank check.... 6 years 240Mil?? Have to have an ace to get anywhere in the post season. He and Barrios are a good 1/2 puch. Hopefully Odorizzi will want to stay and do a reasonable contract... 3 year deal? 45 mil? Can fill in the 4/5 spot after that. Odo as a 3 is where we need to be if we are "serious" about getting to the Series.
  14. Understand the love for Davis but he is no longer a Twin so... makes little sense he be on the list. There are others "still" in our organization that are deserving and would mean a bunch to them...
  15. Nice flipping a guy that we were going to have to let go for international spending. Really like our new front office. Making smart moves at most corners.
  16. You are right.... Cruz is going to be there. One more reason Duda stays on the farm....
  17. Cron and Austin will compete for the starting 1B job and the other being the DH. Duda is simply insurance. Reading WAY to much into this signing....
  18. Kirilloff and Castro for Realmuto. Gamble yes. But getting arguably the best catcher in MLB and extending the lineup... Worth the Gamble at least to me. We have to understand Kirilloff "may" be great or he may be Kepler... nice but replaceable. If we have the opportunity to get a proven player who can help us take the next step this year and for the next couple go get it. Not likely but .....
  19. He needs to stay healthy #1. Meaning he still can play his outstanding Defense but needs to understand he can't go full blast into walls... needs to pull up if going to crash. Give up one hit vs not helping the team for a month. Hard to do though.... If he stays healthy then he needs to stay out of his own head. Meaning just play. Was clear he was thinking instead of reacting when he struggles. Look fastball and react to the breaking ball.... he has an over quick swing so when he does this he has been awesome. When he looks for a pitch he has been awful. If he stays healthy and is just good... not great... at the plate the team will be very successful. If he is great we could be very very good this year.
  20. Um... that is it? Tons of relievers out there yet only mentioning 4 seems a bit empty. The four mentioned are okay like many of the others still out there but the list is long and the article short.... fairly disappointing....
  21. Left handed pitcher who in the bullpen last year did fine. Still only 27 on a 1 year deal. Not sure what folks are upset about. Low risk deal.
  22. Would love us to be the "mystery team"! Would put us in the relevant category for years if he was obtained - Buxton and Sano turn the corner..... and most of all our pitching gets better.... not likely but.....
  23. Would like them to go after Hunter Strickland... was dominant before he threw his tantrum and broke his hand. Should be fairly reasonable and a 2 year contract should get it done. Let him and Parker battle it out and loser gets set up man.
