  1. Plan by Me ... Strasburg... going to be tough to get ... likely 6 years 30 mil per....need that Ace and he is that. Professional, doesn't get rattled. Health risk a bit but think he is the guy... Odo ..... 17 mil 3 years..... should be good as he has stated he likes it here... Pineda.... showed he is back... owes us... should be fairly reasonable... 2 years at 11 mil is what some have stated... the Three would cost at these rates 58 mil to the payroll... not cheap but do believe it puts us in a good spot. Would love to see if we could get Mad Bum instead of either ODO or Pineada but ....
  2. Grandal is not going to take a backup catcher role... mute point. Twins will use in house guy or find a career backup that provides good defense. Don't overthink the room.
  3. As pretty much the Theme here... ALL IN in getting top end pitching. Need to sign one of the top stud pitchers. Of course Cole would be mine and everyone's priority. Love Rendon but not at the cost of not getting the best pitchers on the market. Our lineup is fine as is....
  4. Need to BREAK the bank on an ace and if possible 2. If that means trading a top minor leaguer so be it. Our everyday lineup is great the way it is. We need top end pitching to go anywhere beyond Division winners... Which was great but.... Beating the Astro's or Yankees will take Studs at the top of our rotation. Which we now lack.
  5. MOST important is Cole ... give him a blank check.... 6 years 240Mil?? Have to have an ace to get anywhere in the post season. He and Barrios are a good 1/2 puch. Hopefully Odorizzi will want to stay and do a reasonable contract... 3 year deal? 45 mil? Can fill in the 4/5 spot after that. Odo as a 3 is where we need to be if we are "serious" about getting to the Series.
  6. Understand the love for Davis but he is no longer a Twin so... makes little sense he be on the list. There are others "still" in our organization that are deserving and would mean a bunch to them...
  7. Nice flipping a guy that we were going to have to let go for international spending. Really like our new front office. Making smart moves at most corners.
  8. You are right.... Cruz is going to be there. One more reason Duda stays on the farm....
  9. Cron and Austin will compete for the starting 1B job and the other being the DH. Duda is simply insurance. Reading WAY to much into this signing....
  10. Kirilloff and Castro for Realmuto. Gamble yes. But getting arguably the best catcher in MLB and extending the lineup... Worth the Gamble at least to me. We have to understand Kirilloff "may" be great or he may be Kepler... nice but replaceable. If we have the opportunity to get a proven player who can help us take the next step this year and for the next couple go get it. Not likely but .....
  11. He needs to stay healthy #1. Meaning he still can play his outstanding Defense but needs to understand he can't go full blast into walls... needs to pull up if going to crash. Give up one hit vs not helping the team for a month. Hard to do though.... If he stays healthy then he needs to stay out of his own head. Meaning just play. Was clear he was thinking instead of reacting when he struggles. Look fastball and react to the breaking ball.... he has an over quick swing so when he does this he has been awesome. When he looks for a pitch he has been awful. If he stays healthy and is just good... not great... at the plate the team will be very successful. If he is great we could be very very good this year.
  12. Um... that is it? Tons of relievers out there yet only mentioning 4 seems a bit empty. The four mentioned are okay like many of the others still out there but the list is long and the article short.... fairly disappointing....
  13. Left handed pitcher who in the bullpen last year did fine. Still only 27 on a 1 year deal. Not sure what folks are upset about. Low risk deal.
  14. Would love us to be the "mystery team"! Would put us in the relevant category for years if he was obtained - Buxton and Sano turn the corner..... and most of all our pitching gets better.... not likely but.....
  15. Would like them to go after Hunter Strickland... was dominant before he threw his tantrum and broke his hand. Should be fairly reasonable and a 2 year contract should get it done. Let him and Parker battle it out and loser gets set up man.
  16. Would prefer to have him try from the start of the season to start and see if he does better this time around. Hard to judge him on such a short piece of experience. Tons of relief help on the market. If he flops again I am fine with the idea but starting pitching is VERY hard to find... lets give him another shot first!
  17. Like the move a ton! Our lineup actually could be pretty good if and that is a big IF Buxton and Sano can be good. Our next project and very important one is getting some improvement in our pitching - both the starting and the relief. We shall see. I like the front office making short term deals to let the young studs grow up...
  18. Would love for us to trade for Segura depending on what the cost. Move Polanco to second. Lewis is only 19 and was in A ball so would allow him to climb the ladder instead of rushing.
  19. Joe has been a great asset to the Twin's for a long time. His value clearly decreased when he had to go to first for health reasons. That being said he can clearly still rake. He is a table setter and plays a very good 1B defensively. He and the Twin's will work something out to bring him back at a reduced rate. He has made his cash and this will be to continue his legacy. Arguing about his stats is fairly silly He is/was a great hitter with limited power.... period. A 2 year deal for anywhere from 8-12 mill per year would be decent for both sides while we figure out our long-term plan there. Don't have to overthink this one ...
  20. Love Dozier and would have hoped they would have signed an extension or at least would have had discussions. Pretty clear they are going to play out the string and if at the deadline they are in it they will keep him for the year but if for some reason we are not there he will be a trade candidate. If he stays and gets a 5 year offer for 100m he will be gone. Twin's will not match that. If he would stay for a 5 year 100m deal with years 4 and 5 being a team option we may go there. One thing that we all have to understand is that his kind of production is not something "most" teams have. Very few have and if he leaves there will be a massive hole in production both on the offensive and defensive sides. Also he is a team leader and if Joe leaves also we have very little leadership.... Not good. This should be interesting.
  21. Would be awesome if we could some how move Hughes but with his contract we would have to buy some of that.... that would solve a bunch of issues...
  22. I say that he should start in AAA. He has the stuff to be on the big club but we are not going there to start the year that is pretty clear. Getting started in AAA will give him innings against guys that have played in the show and will give the management a truer assessment of where he is at. I am guessing they will push back the clock and when the clock strikes in June he comes up.... and stays up.
  23. When you go to buy a used car you don't offer your best offer right up front. You put in your low offer and go up. Lynn is just like a used car with salvage value (arm surgery). Runs pretty good but does have some mileage on it. Don't pay for what the car was years ago you pay for what it will be for the next few years. Am good with the offer. When the dealer (agent) sees that the market is not there - there will be a counter offer...... I would do a 2 year deal for 25 million with an two way option year for year 3 at the same amount.
  24. If it comes down to Cobb I would only do a one year offer. We have the young studs in the wings ready to roll. With Cobbs numbers not that great recently why would we do anything else?
