  1. Buck would have caught that one...
  2. Good night; it’s late back East. Or, rather, Not Good Night.
  3. Honestly, I always like Cave more than most of you...
  4. My friend got me a ticket to Yankee Stadium to see Seaver win his 300th game as a White Sox. Yes, I enjoyed the privilege, but I was constantly watching the scoreboard to see if Rodney would get his 3,000 hit. And sure enough, he did; as you know, against the Twins. The two 1967 Rookies of the Year. Crazy how life is sometimes.
  5. Or, rather, he looks like me on the softball field, and I'm 63.
  6. Got it. I do have nostalgia for the young Herbies and Pucketts. I guess I'm going back further to Tony's knees that never got better, Harm going to KC, Calvin pushing everyone toward free agency. That stuff. But point well taken. At least now the players wear belts and don't look like they are playing in pajamas.
  7. I think the people that have "nostalgia" for the powder-blues don't really remember the not-so-happy years when the Twins wore them. We got rid of them and then won a World Series.
  8. Being an out-of-towner, I didn't hear his broadcasts. But being an old-timer, I never tire of delighting in his return to the organization. Anyone who was around in June of 1976 would never have believed this could happen. Write your memoirs, Bert. Think of all you have seen and participated in!
  9. Noticed that, too; as I said, I’m new to Brewer.
  10. True fact: This is my first time listening to Dick and Bert (I fInally subscribed to MLB TV tonight), and I couldn’t believe the mess they made out of that play. It wasn’t that complicated, was it?
  11. It was the weirdest of seasons: the team went from being the worst in the league until late June, to being the hottest in the second half. It wasn’t at all a .500 team in the usual sense.
  12. Really? That's nuts. And I'm an old fogey. Interesting discussion for me, an out-of-stater who doesn't hear or see the broadcasts.
  13. And then you have the case of Carlos Carrasco, opting to play while battling leukemia. Yikes. Wish him the best.
  14. Maybe "no evidence to back it up," but these were my thoughts, also. Never thought of myself as a socialist or anything, but there's no reason to honor ownership at a ballpark unless such a person really made an outstanding contribution to society along the way.
  15. Agree on the need to mention 1967, 1969, and 1970, but I'm glad you included 1988. My memory of 1988 was that we were going on a strong clip but couldn't catch Oakland. It felt like literally match for match: if we won, Oakland won that day; if Oakland lost, we lost. It happened that I was driving cross-country, east to west during that time (beastly hot summer, by the way). When I got to the Bay Area, in August, I remember watching the newscast, and the announcer saying, "The A's won today, so, of course, that means the Minnesota won also." I felt so vindicated that someone else noticed this bizarre pattern. But in September, we ran out of steam and couldn't keep up Oakland's pace.
  16. Yeah, I'm the only person in the world who remembers hearing Fisk's home run on the RADIO! But I do remember telling my college roommate at the time that 1975 was a great series. Not necessarily better than '91, though.
