  1. Problem is with guys like Lewis, or Buxton, they are never 100%. At any nano second after returning to the line up at 100%, they are more likely than 99% of other players to get hurt again in rather short order. Just doing normal baseball activities like running, accelerating or you name it, seems to be too much for their fragile bodies. With Lewis, it's not how much time he will miss in any given season, it's how many games he will actually play. When he does come back, he's a ticking time bomb until he explodes again.
  2. I was concerned a week ago. Was told it was just ST. Well when should he start trying? #1 starter is laughable.
  3. I agree with everyone. I remember back when he was "going good", a few years ago, he was always talked about being acquired in a trade. Twins had their eye on him for a couple years. I've always liked him. Hopefully he gets back to earlier form. I am betting he gets back somewhere close and is top 5 offensively on this team.
  4. No, it's not too unrealistic but not likely. I think you need a sub 2.50 ERA with a gaudy record. I don't think any Twins starters this year will match that.
  5. These would be great seasons but not cy young worthy. If that wins a cy young, the starting pitching in the league has to be down.
  6. Lombard, Vargas, Jones, Dominguez. Couple young pitchers to take a flyer on. Maybe the Yankees feel like alot of posters and think he is ace or #2 material, that's all I'm saying. We can easily replace his 21M with a younger guy. Get something while you can. I am not Falvey or Zoll, they can figure it out. Not good enough to suffocate the youngsters.
  7. My point is 3.91 career ERA is not ace worthy. If others think of him as an ace, get ace return for him while you can
  8. My thoughts exactly. Cole out for the year. Perfect timing to trade Lopez to the Yankees for a haul. Wins 40% of his starts last 2 years. This is not ace material.
  9. Lopez 4 ERA last year and looking like doo this spring. Trade him while he still has value. Something is not right with him. He definitely isn't the stopper he was billed to be. We have young depth to take his place. He is wayyy over paid at 21M.
  10. I think Gasper takes Juliens spot. The Twins like to show off their shiny new toys.
  11. Problem is you might have 10 losses in those 12-14 starts unless we can consistently score 6+ runs a game in his starts.
  12. Please! Please! Anybody but Paddack in the rotation. Try to get some bats or balls for him before he is worth nothing.
  13. France and Bader will be top 5 offensively in this lineup. That's just the state of this offense.
  14. My all time top 3. 1. Carew 2. Killebrew 3. Oliva I loved watching Carew. How can you forget that lean back crouch and flick into left field. Then a sprint down the line and losing his helmet. And the chaw!
  15. As far as the Twins organization goes, this is almost a blockbuster deal. Can't get upset with making this move. We know that we aren't going to make anything bigger until the team is sold. I think a new name in the lineup is a positive all by itself.
  16. I asked Brooks Lee at the Twins Caravan last night where he thought the organization was going to have him spend his time in spring training. He said 2nd base was where he thought he would end up, and I believe his preference.
  17. The odds of Paddack having a sub 4 era are slim and none, and slim just left town. If he was sub 4 he would slot in as a top 3 pitcher in the rotation, and trading him would be foolish. As a more likely 4.50 to 5.00 era, he is definitely expendable.
  18. When i went to Beloit, they were actually getting food at the concession stands. At Cedar Rapids we usually sit first or second row behind the visitors dugout. Players love to interact with the fans before and even during the game. I am sure you could stay after the game and meet anyone you would like. Our is almost like a Town Ball feel.
  19. I would definitely do that in your situation. I am still bummed the Oakland A's are no more. What a storied franchise with so many great players!
  20. I will road trip to Cedar Rapids to check out the rookies. I will also go to other minor league parks within 500 miles. I also go to many high school games to get my baseball fix. I won't make any Twins road trips until they put a decent product on the field.
  21. Probably wondering what it would be like to be on a real team with a chance of winning. Then shakes his head back to reality and continues stacking his $100 bills on the kitchen table in stacks of 250. Then everything is alright again.
  22. As a 63 y/o lifelong MLB fan, I find it hard to believe and am saddened by the demise of the "Oakland A's" Probably my fave team other than the Twins. LOVE the green and yellow unis. Remember the white shoes? Campenaris, Blue, Tenace, Jackson, Catfish Hunter, Bando, Rudi etc., etc. I think it's terrible for MLB and esp the diehard A's fans.
  23. Indirectly they do control the roster, keeping it minor league, by hiding their purse.
  24. The excitement and return of the fan base won't happen until we get new owners. We've been dealing with a glorified minor league team for years with the Pohlads. Simple, people are finding other things to do, and other things to spend their money on. Little or no effort from the owners equals little or no dedication from the fans. Myself included.
  25. I can see why it took a couple months to pull off this high magnitude trade.
