  1. As a 63 y/o lifelong MLB fan, I find it hard to believe and am saddened by the demise of the "Oakland A's" Probably my fave team other than the Twins. LOVE the green and yellow unis. Remember the white shoes? Campenaris, Blue, Tenace, Jackson, Catfish Hunter, Bando, Rudi etc., etc. I think it's terrible for MLB and esp the diehard A's fans.
  2. Indirectly they do control the roster, keeping it minor league, by hiding their purse.
  3. The excitement and return of the fan base won't happen until we get new owners. We've been dealing with a glorified minor league team for years with the Pohlads. Simple, people are finding other things to do, and other things to spend their money on. Little or no effort from the owners equals little or no dedication from the fans. Myself included.
  4. I can see why it took a couple months to pull off this high magnitude trade.
  5. I agree with you. Then you can't say he has the team he wants. He can't have it both ways.
  6. Because he thinks it is just that good? Or because he knows he can't spend any money? Two very different reasons that will result in two very different outcomes. If it's the first reason, he better find another profession.
  7. Couldn't agree with you more. The Twins are ruining my love for MLB. I find high school baseball more enjoyable now.
  8. And how is our bullpen going to be any better this year again?
  9. I see this quote over and over. Where is all this talent??
  10. Can't say it any better than this. But this is what it is until new owners.
  11. Great comment Chief. That's what I was getting at in my original post but I didn't want to respond. Sometimes it's just best to let comments go. I wasn't referring to 700M dollar FA. But c'mon, how about a few 15M to 20M a year FA. Hell, at this point I would settle for less.
  12. I'll give you the Correa signing. That was an unbelievable unexpected signing. Very exciting. That's what we need more of. I am waiting for the day that might be a normal off season move. I can't give you the Lopez acq., that was a trade of an all star to get him.
  13. You are correct on the 3 players, and man that was exciting when they did that! It was actually shocking. But that's not the norm, which you also alluded to. It will be nice when that's more the norm than the exception. Plus, Donaldson was what 5 years ago? Had to give an all- star to get Lopez. Correa was an exciting FA move.
  14. I think it's just Twins fans are tired of the same "nothing" trades or acquisitions year after year. I think we are all waiting for the day we can make some real, difference maker moves. It's an emotional release i guess.
  15. Wouldn't it be nice to not have to say "I don't think they will be terrible"? That's all I'm asking. I want free agency to mean something. Wouldn't it be exciting to wonder what huge free agents we are bidding on? Instead we wait until the mutts are left, and then we pick and choose the cutest ones. This won't happen until we get new owners. Until then it's not easy getting excited.
  16. I can't wait for the next big trade! Maybe we get a back up, back up, center fielder? But then again, that player might end up hitting 5th by mid May.
  17. Problem is, our roster is not capable of "turning it on". They are who they are and who they have been. My point all along. We can't improve or create more excitement until we try to improve to create more excitement. New owners! I know you don't see it that way, I get thumbs down from you all the time. You are in the 10% that have a positive outlook. That's ok.
  18. Calm down old guy. Not attacking your nursing. Good bless nurses. Not personally attacking you either. You just have a skewed opinion. That's ok. There a few who see it your way. Not many, but I am sure there are. Oh by the way, Merry Christmas! PS... you shouldn't use that language.
  19. This is it until new ownership. Yes it is a throwaway year for the players, unless all they care about is stats, and more importantly the fans. Save your money and find better things to do.
  20. Exactly. You stated things very well. This is the feeling of 90% of Twins fans including myself, fans for the most part don't speak out.
  21. Perfect. I agree. Granny's liver pudding is going to taste just as bad this year as it did last year!
