  1. .314 AVG, .442 OBP, .741 SLG, 1.156 OPS = Miguel Sano's last 10 games. That just has to make everyone SMILE.
  2. SSS and first time in the majors. Also the AL East point is a valid one. These splits do not concern me one bit and neither does his slow start.
  3. Could be mechanical after his elbow thing last offseason. Or it could be the league caught up with him after last year's ASB. Or it could be mental. Let me know if any of this is helping.
  4. Is that a line from "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure?"
  5. But we do get them like 15 more times before the end of the season. Subtract the 3 times we'll face Masterson again, and that's like 12 more wins. Gotta love that.
  6. 3 more unearned runs already?
  7. I'm pretty Midwestern and I'm pretty sure I'd do both, then both again. Perhaps you're just too much librarian to do either?
  8. Could you imagine if TK was the coach? He'd end up trotting out his starting 7 before long.
  9. Still, they got a look at an awesome bullpen the first two games. Here's hoping they saw something they just can't live without and make us a nice offer.
  10. Took me a minute to realize you meant "you" as in the other team, right?
  11. Response to Howie: That drops us to 10 at least. But on the plus side, out MLB club makes the playoffs in 2015.
  12. I have to add that I am very happy that Rosario is rated so high. I see him pushing Doz out of 2B as early as next year after his hot start in AA. He makes Sano's "slow" start to AA more palatable.
  13. Forget the descriptions, those rankings are excellent. When you add in our quality depth, it would be hard not to rank our minor league system as the best overall. Now Ryan just needs to add another piece at the deadline and we need to draft well next year because I hope it is the last year for a while we have a top 5 pick.
  14. Again, not saying we will get anything at all for these guys by themselves. And I am assuming that most teams do not have the depth at AAAA pitcher the Twins do. 2 years ago it sure didn't seem like we did?
  15. I think you have to try Dozier at SS again. If that doesn't work plug Floriman back in there and move Doz to utility or AAA. It sucks, since Dozier has been kind of a moderate success story, but Rosario could be a very good 2B for a long time.
  16. By themselves? Not a chance. But as another piece in a deal centered around Perk? Could happen.
  17. AAAA pitchers don't necessarily belong on the major league roster, they are there for emergency starts and fill-in duty. Hendricks, DeVries, Hernandez, Walters all fit the bill. And that's giving Correia, Deduno, Worley, Pelfrey, Diamond the benefit of the doubt that they belong in a MLB rotation. Our problem isn't back end/AAAA depth, quite the contrary. But those players don't lack value in general, only when they're all you have.
  18. I don't think it would be hard to make a 3 for 1 swap with any of several contending teams. We have 3-4 BP guys alone who would be upgrades on several contending teams. Based on specific needs, Morny or Clete or whomever could be another piece. And in addition, our AAAA SP depth is very good and might be desirable. Add all this up and it is very plausible for us to send a package that nets a top 100 in return (including Perk of course). I do agree that most fans won't be excited by the return unless Perk is the centerpiece of the deal.
  19. Agreed. Morny, Perk, Doumit, Fien, Duensing, Burton are probably chips. Maybe Carroll, Correia, and Clete in a pinch. And later possibly Hammer through waivers. Hernandez, Walters, DeVries, et al could be included for some small value if a team wants to bolster their SP depth in AAA. Not a whole lot more than that, other than the guys we probably want to retain. Still, some combination of the above including Perk could/should net us a top 100 prospect. Without Perk included it seems very unlikely we'll get better than 2nd tier talent back.
  20. Doesn't the more likely course of action involve packaging some of our marginal/weak guys with Perkins to increase the return? I agree there's little chance of grouping all of our marginal players together and netting anything at all in return, but they could easily be used to enhance a deal.
  21. Very true this is an extreme scenario, only used to show how arbitrary and therefor irrelevant the stat is.
  22. My favorite will always be Big Papi. I still have friends who will talk about what a terrible move it was trading him, as if he wasn't injured and/or unproductive for most of his stint with us.
  23. I hated most of Bill Smith's moves, but even I can admit he had zero leverage on this one. Dealing from a position of weakness doesn't bode well for a positive return. Now, if you want to talk about the Ramos trade, I will tear Smith a new one all over again for a week straight.
  24. If a guy (pitcher A) goes 5 innings every single game and give up 2 ER every single game, and makes 30 starts: 150 IP, 3.60 ERA, 0 QS. Now, if a player (pitcher goes 6 innings every single game and gives up 3 ER every single game, also 30 starts: 150 IP, 4.50 ERA, 30 QS. Pitcher A is a potential All Star, Pitcher B is below league average. QS is a completely worthless stat invented by agents in an effort to make their clients more money.
