  1. I was a hot dog vendor at the Met in 1977. When Carew came to the plate it was useless to try to sell anything...fans just wanted to see him hit. I'd park myself in an ideal spot behind the plate and watch the at bat myself.
  2. I hope the first thing the new ownership does is do away with Mr. Creativity.
  3. For whoever wins MVP in 2025, the bar has been set about as low as it goes.
  4. Wow, in Tiant's year with the Twins he hit .406. 32 at bats, 13 hits, 4 doubles, only 6 Ks
  5. As a 10 year old fan, found out where he lived and knocked on his door for an autograph....he signed the book with a smile. Great guy! He lived in those apartments straight back from center field behind The Met. Hard to believe players back then were that accessible.
  6. It's a memory so here it goes. I was in first grade, my school bus would drive past the back side of Met Stadium. I saw that the parking lot was packed as well as the stands. I had no idea what was going on, just knew something different was going on over there. Didn't become a Twins fan until 1969. When Billy Martin was the manager.
  7. Twins should just hire a 5th grader with a laptop and let AI tell him what to do.
  8. Since Baldelli is the topic here, interested in any comments on this quote by Rocco: Has baseball changed that much, or is Rocco just looking for another excuse? ----- "Having one strength that can carry you for a long time -- those strengths don’t necessarily carry you for that long anymore,” Baldelli said. “You have to keep changing with the game and we’ve always talked about adjustment-making being important, but you can’t survive and flourish in today’s game without the ability to change things on the fly, on your feet, and become a different kind of hitter.”
  9. So, just following your logic, if the USA produces inferior automobiles, I should keep buying them? To do anything else will guarantee an even more inferior automobile?
  10. A VERY Good question.. 37% of the Twins budget was spent on two part-time players. ( Correa/ Buxton) If you look at the other teams you mentioned, you'll probably see a much better balance on how the money was spent.
  11. Ditto here!!! It's the only message ownership will respond to.....I'll only go to a game if the tickets are free...with free parking.
  12. One rumor: We can only wait to see what happens. ----- "San Francisco is looking for a GM to replace Pete Putila and work under new president of baseball operations Buster Posey. For what it’s worth, the fact that Levine chose to remain underneath Falvey for so long – despite other opportunities – suggests he prioritizes his work environment over his status. Perhaps the Giants’ larger payroll will convince him to give the Bay Area a try."
  13. Yep....and none of them are : "Running out of gas" Maybe Joe needs to put in a filling station in the clubhouse.
  14. I've heard a frequent phrase used by a few players.... "Ran out of gas". Or "running on fumes" Where the Mighty Marlins running on fumes as they traveled to Minnesota to take 2 of 3? Every team plays 162 games, last time I checked. "Running out of gas" is just an excuse..
  15. August 4th: After beating CWS for the 12 time) Correa said. “If everybody tries to get better throughout these last two months … it’s all in-house. I think we have the talent to win it all.” ( I thought they did too ... they had us all duped... even the FO. ) Guess everybody didn't try to get better.
  16. Joe says he doesn't judge on 6 crappy weeks. Falvey regime has been in place for what 8 years now? Guess he needs 6 months of crap in 2025. Which is when Rocco's contract expires. How convenient. It's just about the money.
  17. I remember the 86 Twins. They had a good core to start with. Guys like Hrbek , Gagne, Gary Gaetti, Viola , Burt Blyleven, etc ...In the off-season, acquired Gladden, Juan B, Jeff Reardon. We know how the story ends. Question is. Do we have a front office that has a clue about what moves to make? An owner that will prevent any possibly of acquiring a game changing FA? That's what kills any hope for me.
  18. In his 12 year career Puckett averaged 148 games a year... slightly higher if you factor in he didn't join the team until May in his rookie season. Just trying to get some perspective here. I'm not about to break out the pom-poms for Buxton.
  19. Bullpen is made up of 8 or 9 players. Twins can spend 48 million on two position players, but can't exceed 14 million on 9 ? That's a head scratcher.
