  1. He is already at 3. He would need 7 more and play till his age 32 year. I could see him having a 15-20 WAR career possibly higher- but just being an everyday solid player. A much more refined Kyle Farmer (He has had a 10 year career).
  2. Duran was going to be a closer for what the 26 and 27 years - the what. Varland was not a closer for us or Toronto last year. He was showing improvement but no one in baseball expected this year. Relievers can be fickle, even still it would surprise me little if he had a Joe Nathan like career. Finding his spot at 29/30 and taking off as a closer in his late 20's. Varland was disappointing to lose - but I continue to say what this article is about - We don't have Lackey if we didn't trade Varland. Trading Varland was worth 20 million of expected value between Lackey and the next group of hitters below him. It could very will end up being larger than that. Yes he hasn't stepped foot on a major league field, but even more than someone like Jenkins, he has pedigree and he has proven it in the 2nd best baseball conference with numbers that rival Rutschman and Posey. As to the others we received- Bradley looks like a major win and possibly a #1. Abel has talent and will need to see if he can maintain durability and control next year. After that its Tait who is still a bit of a wildcard, Rojas who has an elite arm needs control, Roden who could be a solid outfielder, Mendez who has an MLB bat no defensive position, - and the rest who have shown flashes Gallagher, Horn, Jimenez, and Villoria. As a fan and watching - even with losing all that talent in the bullpen - I can legitimately say the bullpen is improving and if they can get 1 -2 more arms they may have similar production to the Twins elite bullpen of 2025 prior to the firesale (fyi they were good but not great).
  3. On that walkoff he was also 2 ft shy of a grandslam. Alas - Roden comes down to 1 thing in my opinion - his confidence and can he show he can do it at this level. Under the hood looks good, the effort is good, the defense is good. You can say he got lucky getting on errors or otherwise. For me I would have him down for 2 hits - 1 BB and got on 2 more times with errors. He scored 2 runs. That is a really good night. When talking about small sample sizes, with 1 more hit his batting average is .240- OBP .340 and if he hit the home run - Slugging .360. Thats a .700 OPS. He may still be a 4th outfielder, or he could be a better Larnach.
  4. Players can continue to improve. Lee is one who will outwork anyone. He has improved a significant amount this year - has a 1.7 WAR and is only 25. This is one of the easiest ones to know he will get better. Now his body may tap out his ceiling specifically range, but everything else he can improve on. Last year I don't think you thought much of Ryan either - stating definitely not a #1 type pitcher. Players can continue to evolve. He needed to improve 2 specific things - 1 increase his walk rate - he has. 2 - related to the first be more discerning on the pitches to hit - hit your pitch that you can do damage on rather than one out of the zone that you can hit but do little with. This shows he can adjust. BA, OBP, and OPS all up. I'll take a bet that neither of us will remember. I bet he has a 10 year career.
  5. Well a lot of the signing bonuses are coming in and are much different than what I expected. Lackey -240,000 Tinny -436,000 Renfrow ?????? Signed but unknown - likely need to see some savings Wachsman +1,200,000 Lapour 0 Murdock -30,000 Lay 0 (wow I thought this was a senior sign discount - it was not) Bayles -45,000 Waiting on Burns, Raab and Klecker. The savings for Wachsmann came on the early picks it appears. Tinney still has immense upside even with the discount. The most surpising was Murdock, Lay and Bayles with minimal savings and zero on Lay who was a 4 year senior. I think they like this pitching group better than I expected. There is a possiblity the Twins go over for the 1st time ever. Thats not my base case. As of now the Twins are still $524k short Renfrow has to be a decent amount and then maybe Raab and Klecker. Will be curious to see how this comes out. Just interesting the players I thought we would see the savings on specifically Lay we say little.
  6. Hopefully Caratini just needs a day or two off. Jackson is showing how valuable he is. Multiple days off and still performs. That win was necessary if the Twins do go into buyers mode. We will see if they can go on a hot streak. Lee has had some wierd anomalies in his splits the last couple of years. He continued to get better. I really think he will be the Twins super utility player down the road.
  7. $1200 last I checked. The saints game was going for $120 but I think they sold out.
  8. LOL proves my point. You are not the smartest person in the room and other individuals value him more than you do. He did get on base 5 times now tonight.
  9. Others have opinions as well and you have shot them all down. Hence my point.
  10. He still has a nearly 8.0 surplus value, down just 2 million since last year.
  11. Pretty sure the same comments were made about Clemens as well.
  12. At this point they should just make you the GM since you have all the answers LOL 😂.
  13. I would have preferred to keep Varland, but Rojas and Roden is still solid return. Roden can get you a decent reliever right now. As to the outfields yes I foresee some trades but health has been as much of an issue.
  14. I’m pretty confident Roden will figure it out. Tonight he scored 2 runs. Trading Varland was the necessary evil to get the #3 pick. Garlands can be acquired or developed (ie Morris) Lackeys cannot. Rojas and Roden can still provide good value for the Twins.
  15. He is 0-3. 1 should have been a hit. In either case he has been on base 4 times.
  16. Roden on for 3rd time tonight by error. All 4 at bats on base.
  17. Catchers have seemed to be good value in the international market. The position in a little over a year and half will have gone from barren to nearly fully stocked with good prospects at every level. Quite the change.
  18. Because you couldn’t get both. The high school pitcher could go to college unless you pay him what he asked. Someone would have picked Tinney.
