  1. I'm sure many will think I'm over-reacting but I think he should quit switch hitting. He looks absolutely awful from the left side.
  2. Will the real Twins base stealer please stand up? Not sure he can hear us from Philly.
  3. We all want the Twins to draft the next Kershaw or Strasburg but you always have to take the best guy available when you draft. Especially when you're drafting top 5. You don't want to blow these kinds of opportunities to add special talent to the organization.
  4. I appreciate that Carroll's advanced age limits him, but he's the best option now. Maybe 200 AB's into the season someone, ie Dozier or Florimon or Dinkleman, would be playing at a level that would merit considering to move the elder 2B into a utility role but for a second time Dozier was handed a job on a silver platter. Why?
  5. I've been consistent on this issue. The middle infield combo that gives the Twins the most consistency and therefore the best chance for success is Esco at SS and Carroll at 2B. Dozier and Florimon aren't ready and may never be MLB caliber.
  6. The thing is that the Twins really want Hendriks to start throwing his curve more and have been encouraging him to bounce it off the plate. Mauer has been terrible digging pitches out of the dirt both last season and thus far in 2013. That's why Mauer struggles with Deduno. So it wouldn't surprise me to see Doumit behind the plate when Liam pitches. Besides, Hendriks only problem in his last start was his fastball location and that has little to do with the back stop.
  7. The loss is definitely on Gardy. The Twins have 2 pitchers on the staff that can be trusted to shut down any part of pretty much any line-up. Those 2 guys are Burton and Perkins. Those 2 guys should work the 8th and 9th respectively anytime they are available in a 1 run game. Especially when you consider who the Twins starters are!
  8. The bullpen is strong and has some depth. Gardy doesn't always manage it right but thats another story. The spot on the pitching staff that is weakest and has the strongest candidates for replacement is the spot occupied by Liam Hendriks in the starting rotation. IMO
  9. This is great! The fact that they've done it against 2 teams that have play-off caliber starting pitching gives us hope that it isn't just a brief fleeting aberration. I want to see how good this offense can be against some of the less stacked rotations in baseball.
  10. Capuano would be better.
  11. Well the starting rotation is miserable. 6 games don't prove otherwise.
  12. Terry Ryan should be harangued into trading for Harang.
  13. I'm sure Pedro will be limited to 80-90 pitches but I think he can get through 6 on about 85.
  14. I have a feeling Hernandez is going to open some eyes today. I'm predicting a quality start.
  15. Mauer isn't a #3 hitter. #3 hitters have power. Roenicke is no surprise to me. Parmalee has had the best and most consistently good AB's in the 2 games in Baltimore. I heard a lot of negative comments about his play against Detroit but I'm not hearing any praise for his awesomeness the last 2 games.
  16. SS should be Esco's job. Florimon did nothing to earn it. I feel the same about 2B. I would start Carroll over Dozier, but at least Dozier is playing well enough for me to wonder.
  17. The fact that Sano is showing improvement at 3B is awesome.
  18. [h=2]What lies ahead for Aaron Hicks? How about a realization that he's a RHB.[/h]
  19. As far as what to do Roster wise when Diamond is ready? I would send Hendriks down. Liam has shown that he's capable of making some adjustment and I have more faith now that he can be a good pitcher in the future but he wasn't able to locate his fastball all spring and still exhibited that problem against Baltimore. A little time away from old Rick Anderson would probably allow him to fix his mechanics.
  20. Duensing is not very good either especially against RHB. Hernandez has the kind of change-up that can give RHB fits. So I would like Duensing to be the LOOGY and Hernandez can be the LHP out of the pen you could trust against hitters from either side. Robertson can stay in AAA until he finds a decent fastball.
  21. regardless of how well Hernandez's start gos today the Twins need to consider making him the second lefty in the bullpen. Robertson has the velocity of a high school pitcher and only 1 semi effective pitch.
  22. There is nothing wrong with asking Perkins to go 2 innings from time to time. When Burton is unavailable for the 8th and Perk is on multiple days rest there's no reason to anyone else working in a 1 RUN GAME. Believe me Perk won't blink if you ask him to do it. Perkins is driven, almost to the point of obsession, to be one of the best closers in baseball. I don't know if he can be that but if he fails it won't be for lack of preparation or confidence.
  23. LOL! Anyway he shouldn't have made the team.
  24. Hendriks has a good enough curve and change that he shouldn't use the slider. The slider is a huge part of his problem with RHB. Today we've already seen RHB swing and miss against the curve. I see this as a good adjustment by Liam.
