  1. Hernandez is better than he's being given credit for on this thread.
  2. I don't think Morneau's wrist is eve going to be 100% ever again. It's pretty hard to hit for power with a bad wrist.
  3. Let's revisit this in 4 years and see if Sanchez is still worth 16 million a year. Not saying that the Twins shouldn't puruse big money pitching but ANY TEAM doing it should really pick their spots carefully. As much as I hate him Sabathia comes to mind, the first time he was a free agent, because he was mechanically sound and really young and BIG.
  4. I think Hernanadez can be good. He reminds me of a younger Jason Vargas. Escobar reminds me of Orlando Cabrera. Now it would be a pretty big surprise if Escobar became O-Cab caliber but I like Hernandez's chances of getting better as he seasons with the Twins. After all the Twins have a much better track record developing LHP than they do developing infielders.
  5. There's much of these same grumblings coming from Angels fans about their own highly respected manager. So why don't the Twins and Angels swap managers. Each org. gets fresh blood and each org. gets a proven respected manager. If it doesn't work out just switch back! We'll call it musical managerial chairs.
  6. Maybe he's secretly bothered by being moved from the 3rd spot in the batting order? Maybe he thinks that if he shows more power he'll be moved back to the 3 spot? From the start of the season he's been striking out at an un-mauer like rate. Age could be starting to affect his vision or he could be beat up from catching more. Most likely it's just a slump.
  7. Not mine. The TV claims that mlb baseball is playing on FSN but it's just Hockey players shaving! WTH
  8. I find it hard to believe that so many fans are putting so much stock in April stats.
  9. Terry Ryan could talk all day and say nothing. I find platitudes and cliches sickening.
  10. Could not have said it any better.
  11. Trevor is never going to be a good infielder. He needs to play RF or DH.
  12. It's pretty obvious what Trevor is good at and that's pulling the ball. Let him be a pull hitter! The Twins are ruining/wasting another good hitter trying to make him conform to their stupid "TwinsWay".
  13. Also I feel the need to give credit where it's due. Rick Anderson has tweaked Correia's delivery just enough to ensure that Correia consistently stays down in the zone.
  14. I was as negative about the Correia signing as anyone, but it starting to look like he might be closer to Rick Reed than Jason Marquis. Fine with me. I haven't been this happy to be wrong since Carl Pavano won 17.
  15. "When healthy, Joe Mauer is one of baseball’s elite players, and a fitting centerpiece for a championship-caliber team."- I couldn't disagree more. 1 season he's performed at that level. Has he only been healthy 1 season?
  16. Correia died and came back as Kevin Tapani. Fine with me.
  17. This has been a strange thread. I like what stringer bell is laying down. I'm just hoping that I will see something from Worley that will help me understand the Revere trade.
  18. I wouldn't call 8 for 10 in his last 2 games doing it quietly. Honestly he's carrying this team offensively right now, but for 23 million, he should.
  19. Do they let snitches into the HoF?
  20. Yes but Texas operates on a 120 pitch count. IMO that should be the number for a "strikeout pitcher" who is on a roll.
  21. Those bottom inches of the strike zone are critical. Mauer shouldn't catch.
  22. You forgot Deduno. He should be able to help before May, Meyer, Gibson, or Perez are ready.
  23. No one should be surprised by Correia starting hot. He has a history of early season success throughout his career. What is surprising to me is how bad Worley looks. Not even necessarily his results, but he fails the eye test. When I watch him pitch I don't see anything that resembles a quality off speed pitch. That makes me afraid he's the new Blackburn that I accused Correia of being. It's still too early to draw conclusions about these new starters but I'm finding what I thought to be the pecking order of the 3 new starters was all bass ackwards thusfar. LOL That's why we love baseball.
  24. When healthy Slowey is better than anyone currently in the Twins rotation. That isn't saying much considering Worley is the de facto ace. Slowey is the #5 starter for a team many would try and sell as worse than the Twins. I know the Astros are BAD but the Twins could be the worst team in baseball. The rotation is that bad right now. I expect it will get better with Diamond back and Deduno and Gibson hopefully on the way, but right now this team is a ticking time bomb that should have been blown up 2 years ago.
