  1. Regardless of the money if you could cut a deal with the redsox that would keep you out of the MN Twins org, wouldn't you do it? Every athlete wants to win championships, right? People were upset that Buxton looked unhappy when the Twins drafted him, but can you blame him? Until the Twins realise that the game revolves around POWER, power hitting and power pitching, the Twins are an undesirable landing spot for most prospects/free agents.
  2. I read this article this morning and thought it was one of Souhans worst that I can remember. He's not usually such a blatant apologist so he might actually believe this crud. How did the Pirates do the last few years acquiring low price quality starting pitching?
  3. It sure would be nice if Hendriks or Walters or Deduno or Henandez or somebody could step up and surprise everyone like Diamond did last year.
  4. Timing is everything and effect of confidence achieved from immediate success is immeasurable. The Twins and anyone who wants the Twins to win wants Gibson to come up to the majors only when he's ready to be what a young Scott Erickson was to the Twins rather than him come up early and look like a young Scott Baker. Just because they blew it with Hicks doesn't mean they should automatically make that exact same mistake immediately with Gibby. 2 pennies or whatever
  5. Oh my god you people are beating this to death. We all want to see Gibson and he'll be up soon. He hasn't been that consistent. There's no conspiracy here about super 2 status. Now that he's had 3 out of his last 4 starts look great he'll be up as soon as Pelfrey or Deduno has another clunker. Gardy's had with the most of these guys already. Correia isn't safe either if he can't keep the ball down in his next couple starts.
  6. Good grief he's not dead! He'll be back by July if not sooner.
  7. Mr. Brooks I was having a very similar thought yesterday. Now that the chickens of the off season are coming home to roost what possible spin can they put on it that doesn't look REALLY bad for the whole front office. It is as you said really only 1 of 2 options, 1) They bold face lied when they said they would compete this season. 2) They're freaking idiots. I think it's number 1. Terry Ryan is concerned with only 1 thing constructing a cheap roster. He's perfectly content to ride the ups and downs that come with developing young talent and depending on that to stay competitive. I would go so far as to say he has contempt for the modern day big money ball players with their guaranteed contracts and primadonna attitudes. The bi-lateral leg weakness thing probably pushed him over the edge.
  8. Carroll should be the starting 2B.
  9. Captain cheap-o Terry Ryan wouldn't spend the money if they did trade him so what's the freaking point? I'm not the biggest Mauer fan and don't think he's worth 23 million a year but Terry Ryan seems hell bent on making the Twins the Oakland A's of the Central, minus the steady stream of GOOD young pitching.
  10. I thought this rotation would be worse than last years but so far it's about the same.
  11. The number of innings for Gibby really isn't important because the Twins won't be a playoff contender this year. What is important is that he has success when he finally gets his feet wet. The Twins would be wise to keep him at AAA until he finds consistency. I know he throws relatively hard but he's not Deduno. Gibson will need to be able to consistently locate his fastball to have success in the show. Once he get's his mechanics figured out he has a real good chance to be an above average MLB starter.
  12. Worley, Pelfrey, and Correia ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE AND WE'RE LETTING TERRY RYAN OFF THE HOOK! IF YOU WANT TO CROWN HIM THEN CROWN HIM BUT HE IS WHO WE THOUGHT HE WAS.........CAPTAIN CHEAP-O
  13. Oh and the Ben Revere trade is looking really bad right now.
  14. Look there was never any reason to believe that the Twins could maintain to hang around the .500 mark. There was never any reason to think of it as anything but a "hot start" for a really bad starting rotation. Getting Deduno, Gibson, and eventually DeVries in the rotation taking the spots of Hernandez, Worley, and eventually Pelfrey will make the team better. How much better? That is the question.
  15. Everyone needs to calm down. The entire rotation as it is currently comprised with the exception of Deduno and Diamond is horrible. Gibson will get "the call" soon enough.
  16. I may be in the minority but I think the best of the 2013 Twins is yet to come. The early lack of failure is just slowing the dust settling process. Soon the rotation will shed some of the fat and the power will come for Willingham, Plouffe, and Parmalee. Arcia is going to adjust to the steady diet of off speed stuff and go on to be AL Rookie of the year. I see things getting better. That's not to say I think they'll be a respectable playoff caliber team this year. Just better than they are as currently comprised. Which has been better than most of us thought.
  17. Well Twins fans I guess it was inevitable Arcia is being mentioned by national media as the only current AL Rookie worth mentioning as a possible Rookie of the Year candidate at the quarter mark of the young 2013 campaign. 19. If the best I could do were Correia and Pelfrey I'd resign. BOO
  20. Mauer is thriving in his proper spot in the batting order and the team is better for it. Beyond that he has been much better at throwing out runners. Worth 23 million? Not quite, but definitely fun to watch for the first time in 3 years.
  21. Hope for Hicks.....if he comes to the realization that he's a RHB.
  22. I've been saying this for years! The Twins organization's philosophy towards pitching is completely flawed. It will generally get good results against average hitting teams but be disastrous in the playoffs should the team reach. I'll go as far as saying that they hate strikeout pitchers because they demand way more money for the same amount of innings. Always looking for the bargain. Never have their eyes on the prize.
  23. Plouffe has been better defensively. I still am of the opinion that his future is in RF/DH. He's one of these guys that won't truly blossom until he gets on a team that tells him just hit for power and don't worry about this using the whole field non-sense.
