  1. Great trade for the Cubs. Outlier, trade the claim was most clubs,
  2. I am sorry, I did not realize that being a better than league average hitter on a team that is almost devoid of that by woba is low ceiling. More than wishful thinking on the Mets trade possibilities. The Mets need someone in a hurry. They do not play the Twins very much so they do not have much exposure to Plouffe. They know Johnson. As Johnson plays 2b for them perhaps they see more of an upside to Flores than Plouffe. After all, Plouffe is low ceiling
  3. Millone's ERA+ in Oakland was 100. Sanatana has great years and bad years. That Hughes seemed to have found the pitcher everyone thought he could be when he came fooled people. Nolasco was the innings eater. However, your claim that most teams find these pitchers cheaper is unsupportable. You are not going to accept Millone is tradeable from the minors because I didn't find the comparables, then you better have backing for your statements
  4. If ERA+ and FIP paint different pictures of the same thing then maybe you need to try a third metric.
  5. Many of the Twins failures went on to be failures elsewhere after leaving the Twins. Some were failure a couple of times before finding success. Some continued to fail. Tim Stauffer still pitched a few games for the Mets. He went to camp with Arizona. Do LaRussa and Alderson no nothing about baseball players and pitching? Ponson got time with the Rangers, Yankees and Royals after leaving the Twins. Daniels, Cashman and Moore are bad I do believe between them they have had quite a few World Series teams.
  6. Kelly Johnson was with the Mets last year. They went with someone they knew and available. Data on Plouffe in looking at his for this season and ignoring the rest of his work is fine, but the first two months of a prospects career tell you nothing? Please.
  7. Exact money, more money, less money. It is going to be hard to match exactly. Fringe players spending time in the minors being traded does happen There would be no doubt that Millone would be brought beck up and Dean sent back down if a team is sniffin.
  8. At the time when Nolasco, Hughes or Santana were signed, could have anyone predicted the ERA+ stat? Now try ERA+ for 15-16 as you are only as good as your last couple seasons. Not the same picture
  9. Any team will have players that played for them once be playing well elsewhere. The list of exTwins is not all that impressive. That you need to go back as far as you did to come up with a list is telling
  10. April and May is enough time to tell if players are bad but an equal time on the other end of the season is not. Yup, June July, August and September would be better. A full season or two would be better. Stupid thing about trades, it requires 2 teams. It is not unreasonable to think it is going to take a month and a half to move some of the players.
  11. Chacin, Brendan Ryan. There iare the first two off the trade tracker that were in the minors, have mlb experience and brought something in trade.
  12. Berrios, Chargois, Walker, and Jason Wheeler should then all be spending from August on with the Twins after they have traded a bunch of veterans. Garver, Turner, Granite might also fit in the audition category for September. Anyone on the 40 man roster older than 26 ought to be trade bait. There are 13-14 players that fit that demographic. Abad to a contender would fetch the most but a couple others might bring back more than a tuna can. The more of them they trade, the more people can post in 2 years how stupid the Twins were to trade them. Here is hoping some notoriously bad trading teams are on the edge of the playoffs in July.
  13. Moylan went how long from being cut by the Twins until being picked up by Atlanta. Solarte chose to sign with Texas rather than the Twins. Still took him a couple of years and being in the right place at the right time.Still it was his decision not to try for the winnable 2b, 3b, ss positions for the Twins in 2012. Current stats are all signaling career Danny Santana type year. Steve Pearce. The Yankees, Houston, and Baltimore also sent him away after the Twins. It still took him a couple of years after the Twins let him go for him to get established. Casey Fien. 5 games. How many different posters through the winter said to get rid of him. Ortiz, every other team passed when he was made available. Stretching to prove a point Hardy, Ramos, Garza.. Any wonder why Smith is in the Dominican
  14. David Dejusus was making 5 million. Still fetched a flier.
  15. Late July, August anything can happen. Hell, a team gave up Jake Arrietta for Scott Feldman. The Dodgers gave up a prospect for Drew Butera. Willingham was pretty broken down and netted was once the number 9 prospect in the Royals system. The Bucs got Morse for a player that had been DFA a few times. So, until there is proof that GMs do not do stupid things near the deadline, Millone has potential for value. Potential.
  16. Contracts and money. I hope more teams cut the Kemps and Crawford type players. Yes they are getting the money, but you take away the game. Dozier should sit if he is insubordinate
  17. Only 41 players have had multiple bunt hits this season. Only one in 6 batters even have one bunt hit. There have been over 60,000 AB this year. Why didn't Molitor think about a no bunt sign? I would say statistically bunting on your own almost never happens. If it was a sac bunt called, and Molitor is throwing the player under the bus, shame on him. It doesn't seem like him to do that sort of thing (troll alert) but I could be wrong.
  18. It can't be a mistake to trade for a sub league average pitcher to substitute for a replacement level performance. Will it do the team much good?
  19. You forgot angle flat, more hittable, less strikeouts. Of course, to some, that is all the coach's and managers fault. More like damned if you do, damned if you do not.
  20. Plouffe has been a streaky kind of hitter who hasn't had a streak this year. Hard to figure out what exactly is going wrong for Plouffe. K % and BABIP is around his career norm, Batted ball spray chart looks sort of similar except for fewer black dots (HR) Walks are down, ISO is down. He doesn't show the power numbers. That would lead me to wonder if they are pitching and defending him differently
  21. I don't think anyone would have thought that this would be a 90 win team. The thought was they would be a competitive team and with a return of form of the free agent pitchers have a good potential for 90 wins.
  22. I did not say that Millone had a choice. As a trade chip the Twins are likely to get more for a AAAA starter than a mop up pitcher. How much more depends on the other team. Back of the rotation but usually kept his team in the game. If a team needs a pitcher and thinks they can fix what was going wrong for Millone then a deal will get made for some low a prospect with a glimmer of hope rather than a 24 year old low a player. Does that clarify it well enough for you?
  23. Bleacher report, Craig Lambert, Baseball America think Dakota Hudson. If as advertised as the second best college pitcher, I don't think he will be there Sickles currently says Thaiss the catcher. Contact hitter, not a great defensive catcher. I do not think that is a good guess either. The guys at Scout.com think Connor Jones. They say he projects as mid rotation. If there is more potential elsewhere I would guess they would go elsewhere.. Wimmers may cured them of "safe" picks. Callis has Kirriloff Many of the draft sites do have interesting things to say http://www.dcprosportsreport.com/MLBMocks.htm That will get you to links of other people's opinions. You can kill a lot of time there.
  24. He can try to build his value by being a dominating AAA pitcher VS BP (long relief)
  25. Kepler, Rosario, Arcia Buxton and Sano, if two of them work out then they need two of Santana, AB Walker, Grossman , DJ Hicks, Harrison or Granite to work out. Lots of inside straights to draw to not an either/ or
