  1. Collabello had an OPS+ of 142 last year. If that is not good enough for you, what number is? Only 15 home runs. I guess as a half time player that was far too paltry of a number
  2. All I hear out of the anti Ryan crowd is of making trades that have no comparable base in reality and calling for free agent signings of players that do not exist. Excuses versus figments of imagination. Wow, what a choice
  3. I find it amusing that there is an ad for learning to throw a nasty curveball. You click on it and players the millenials might not have heard of are hawking a plan to join the 90 mph club. 90 mph curveball would be a thing to behold. Maybe the Twins should send all of their pitchers to this guy. Imagine Millone with a curveball faster than is fastball Yup, bored at work
  4. The week before last on another thread I was assailed for saying that Mauer's problems were due to concussions. Observationation when you look at the data. The fan base here think they know what is better for Joe than he does. They know more about who will sign here better than the GM. They know which players will be tradeable assests with a year contract that will sign with the Twins. They know that spending 20 more million means you could have had a contending team rather than a 100 loss team. They know which minor league player is better than another by statistics and not seeing other prospects. Sit back and laugh at it all. There are many who have thousands of posts, they are not going anywhere. They will continue to post the implausable and let you know what they think is true and right.
  5. Wacha, Martinez, Wong, Rosenthal, Grichuck and Piscotty are all 25 or under. Siegrist just turned 26. The natural cycle was advanced to the major leagues as quick as possible
  6. Offensive liability. The Twins already have too many of those. Pass
  7. Yup, you are correct. O the other hand, they still did not go out and get a fourth to fill out the bullpen. With 6 inning starters you need four to prevent Perkins from wearing out.
  8. Santana overall is a better option than Benson, Mastro and the other guy signed off the street. They all will get a chance. Santana will stick with performance. Tonkin has a job to lose. If he does lose it, I think it would be in May, not spring training. Arcia?, who knows.
  9. Remember the word entertain means consider
  10. To listen may be done, Ryan did not say he does not listen to offers. He chooses his words very carefully and lets others make up their own meanining
  11. End of discussion is appropriate when you do not understand brain injuries and I don't fee like writing a blog. The batting numbers all say something is off with Mauer. Contact rate is about the same, results are different, power has been down, the spray pattern is different.
  12. There are people who seem to think that a minor league signing means going to be on the major league roster Quentin, Mastro, Sweeney, Abad, Boshers, Kinzler, and one time September call up Benson all signed minor league contracts with invites. Sorry, not with the out of option players Santana, Arcia, and Tonkin will there be much culled from the heap. The reliever who pitches the best and the person who can hit if Arcia or Park can't from the non roster invitees may make the squad.
  13. Tell you what, go read up on brain injuries and when you understand it chide me for what I said.
  14. On a team that is as thin on talent as the Twins are there is a question of offensive production. Get rid of one of your best, in terms of the team, offensive weapons when the team has so few average producers is foolhardy. Entertain bad offers so the public like you can be mollified is a waste of time. You can't name one 3b that brought back a decent return that is near Plouffe's caliber. Now, if Quentin's knees hold up, you can trade Plouffe or a B prospect and a long reliever. The peanut galley will be less than thrilled, but that is what you would get for Plouffe and why it is perfectly fine not to entertain offers.
  15. Any of them have the concussions and post concussion syndrome like Mauer?
  16. I did, hence mine. The A's got some value for Donaldson. Plouffe is no Donaldson nor Frazier for that matter. Please feel free to refresh my as to a comparable 3b that was recently traded. Headly had a couple good years, but the Padres got a couple tomato cans and had to pay the Yankees.. There is nothing out there to even hint that offers for Plouffe would have any value. Hence there is no stupidity in not entertaining offers.
  17. That is why these lists are strictly for entertainment value. Guess who was the number 56 ranked baseball prospect in 2007 and the number 1 ranked Twins prospect at one time. With your knowledge of minor leagues I would bet you could find 112 players with a better career fWAR than 4.0
  18. You missed the point, I guess I was too subtle.
  19. How is it stupid when Frazier brought back so little?
  20. 10 million? Why would you give Punto a 20 year contract?
  21. When Thorpe is the ace of the staff with Burdi and Reed as the closer committee with Melotakis (sic?) and Chargois, does that the list invalid
  22. By 1965 the statistics show there were as many black players in each league. So the perception that one league is more racist than the other then is inaccurate. One holds onto a perception long after the situation changes. The alternative is that if you are not a star player and black, you do not count.
  23. In the mid 60's the two leagues were nearly even in percentages of players of African heritage by a SABR study. The difference in Win Shares only means the NL signed a few better players, not that one league is more racist than another. Heck, both leagues have a team with a Native American nickname and there is nothing in the indigenous people's history to baseball. That one league is more racist than another is laughable
  24. A sup par player at first. Who knows what in center. Below average production at catcher. Second year players in the corner outfield . With all of that this board is nuts over some guy playing a limited role?
  25. Berrios pitched 75 innings total in AAA and had much higher numbers That would lead me to believe that the league was figuring him out. So if I ignore 1/3 of someone's season, I can make them look better or worse depending on my agenda. Cherrypicked stats are a bit of a pet peeve
