  1. Like a winner. Hopefully my opening day optimism last all year long.
  2. I just checked Fubo's upcoming schedule and there are no Twins vs Cardinals games on the schedule.
  3. A $2.00 trifecta bet on Lewis, Buxton and Correa all spending at least 20 days on the IL would pay the minimum pay out of $2.10. They are all extradornially exceptional athletes but with that talent comes injuries.
  4. Owners are invested financially. Fans are invested emotionally. Now the owners are rejecting our emotions by not improving the team and selling their part of the investment. Why should we invest more than the owners?
  5. How in the world did Topa get a raise after appearing in less than a handful of games last year?
  6. Jason Bartlet in 2014 spring training. I was sure Gardy was going to keep him on the roster just for old times sake. Jason Kubel in his last 1/2 year with the Twins. Same as Bartlet. Neither was a one game situation but the whole body of work. Their swings just were not connecting with good contact.
  7. Rumor has it Miguel Sano was in camp but nobody recognized him because he was under 210 lbs, beat Buxton in a foot race around the bases and never swung at a pitch without clobbering a rope to the outfield.
  8. We can hope the new ownership group treats the roster like a fantasy team ala Cohen and the Mets but most billionaires do not lose money on their investments. I like the idea of locking up Twins players for the players security as well as the Twins'. I am grateful for the Pohlad family for keeping the Twins in Minnesota and let's not forget at one time they signed the largest $$$ deal to a player (Puckett) in history. Lots of Twins Daily posters can't wait for new owners but like the saying goes....be careful for what you wish for, you just might get it.
  9. If Paddock returns to his earlier career form the Twins will have a front of the rotation starter pitching in the 5th spot. I know I am biased as I was in Denver in 2023 at the end of the season and he was the best pitcher to pitch in that 3 game series for either team. The Rockies hit nothing off of him, totally dominant. I'd like him to stay, if he fizzles put him on IR for the rest of the season and move on at seasons end.
  10. Uecker's portrayl of announcer Harry Doyle in the movie Major League is one of the best characters ever.
  11. What happens if the new owners want to cut payroll instead of add payroll? There's as much chance of that as adding payroll.
  12. If I was going to quibble with your rankings I would say Buxton has to be on the list. He is a game changer when he is manning center field. There is value in that, even if he is injured often. When he is injured his salary is probably covered by an insurance policy. Thanks Nick for the list and the read.
  13. It sure does not sound that way to me. Weak hits and contact was what I witnessed. He just seemed overmatched to me and what's worse was his answer to a reporters question when he said something along the lines of "I knew I could play at this level and I'm doing it". If the Twins were not trying to resurrect Calvin Griffith Ball Martin would still be in the minors. I guess I was hoping for better from a number 5 overall pick.
  14. Goody, I was worried about Margot's pinch hitting record being forgotten.
  15. why doe it feel like the Twins are giving Crash Davis a major league contract?
  16. I believe this is going to be Paddacks year. He will be the ace of the staff by July 1st. I'm sticking to my avocado toast and making my oat milk white chocolate mocha a Grande. Two years in a row of payroll cuts has me thinking of other things to do this summer than fight traffic, pay $25 for parking and $100 per ticket for the opportunity to pay $8 for a coke and $10 for a hot dog. I can cut my budget along with the Polads.
  17. My most lasting memory of Cave was when I met friends in Cleveland and Cave was playing center field for the Twins. The first two Cleveland batters hit routine fly balls to Cave. He dropped both of them.
  18. Very nice article but you missed the true nature of the Twins off season plans when Falvey upgraded his meal to supersize he had to pay for it out of his own pocket.
  19. Credit to him for not sticking around just to keep cashing the nice MLB paycheck. I liked him and never thought he was 'that bad' of an outfielder. Certainly not Delmon Young bad. But I wish nothing but the best for him in the future.
  20. I feel like it's grasping at straws to call this season a star season for Buxton. He nursed an injury again, he was rested a lot again, and he spent a long time on IR again. In order for me to call any Buck season a star season he should man center field for 150 games and swing the bat well, steal some bases and cause havok on the base paths. Until then it's another Buck season, an oh what might have been season.
  21. my prediction is they double down on their development hopeful prospects. All of whom need more work to be a MLB player. Julien, it's hard to believe he played 2nd in college. Maybe a smaller cap would help with his hitting. He is lost at the plate. Lee, isn't up to MLB speed yet. TK always talked about the speed of the game. Needs a defensive home. And a smaller helmet. Lewis, needs a defensive home and become slump proof. Needs to quit lunging and swinging for the fences. Martin, needs to square up the ball. I don't care if he hits singles but the hits sound like he got jammed every time. Needs a defensive home. Miranda, needs a defensive home and stay healthy. Wallner, not sure if he can improve his defense and cut down on the strikeouts but I think he is easily a 30 plus homer guy if he plays everyday. Leave him in right field.
  22. Not quite like waiting for Aaron to hit number 714.
  23. Apathy is worse. I'm a homer fan, I love that we have a professional baseball team in Minnesota. I watched almost every game on TV this year, and last, and the year before that and the year before that.....My TV package was chosen because it can get the Twins telecast. I attended 2 games this year, with my wife and a couple grandkids in tow. It cost more than $500 each game. I have receipts. I can't justify more games than that when ownership purposely made this years team worse than last years team. If they left town I would miss them but would easily find something else to do.
  24. I think the Twins believe that all they need to do is show up and they will win the game. They sure are not hustling, not playiing good defense and lallygag their way on the bases.
  25. but the Twins are fighting fighting fighting to win this game. I wonder if the front office is watching this game? Maybe MLB can let teams start with a runner on 3rd after 12 innings.
