  1. I'd rather wait and see how '22 plays out. Will Jeffers be able to step in? If they're horrible again in 22 he could be a trade piece.
  2. I'd like to think using him as an opener can help him grow into a full time starting pitcher.
  3. If there is no MLB, fans should boycott the MiLB games. Team owners will raise prices in hopes of cashing in on desperate fans. Attendance would go up, concessions etc, meanwhile the players are still making their minor league salaries. With no hopes of moving up.
  4. I'm hip to both Jeffers and Alcala. I think both can be major players. Guilty of writing off Dobnak. But I won't complain if I'm wrong.
  5. My guess is we'll see both. Good and bad, hopefully less of the bad as he learns his way. We have a better sample size to go with.
  6. I'd like to see someone market indoor lacrosse (NLL) trading cards. Grow the game.
  7. The way I read it, if he plays, and plays well, he gets paid commensurately. If he gets hurt, he doesn't get the big bucks. Sure, he's one wall crash from dain brammage, but so is any other player. I don't feel this contract is any riskier to the team than any other, on the open market he would have garnered much more guaranteed money. I'm happy with it
  8. I think what we saw with Ober is what we'll get again, but over the entire year. Expecting Ryan to be as dominant as he was...I think yeah, we're expecting too much. But I'm also old enough to remember Fernandomania. It could happen.
  9. That was the season, right there. I've been saying that all year...
  10. I'm wondering what we can realistically expect from Ryan. I suspect we're all expecting too much...
  11. I wasn't happy when they traded Corbitt. But getting Bruno in return.... Good deal! Good article!
  12. You forgot to mention that it always looked like he was having fun. That's what always struck me, dude was having fun playing baseball.
  13. Growing up in Buffalo, half the kids were Yankees fans, the other half picked teams like the Big Red Machine, the A's and Pirates. One day I got a package from my grandmother in Minnesota. Twins shirt, pennant, and poster. Looking at the league leaders in the paper I saw the names Hisle, Olivia, Killebrew, Perry, Blyleven. But the name at the top of the batting leaders stuck out. Carew. And he was THE guy for me. Until Kirby came along...
  14. Increasing the minimum even 50% is small potatoes to the owners compared to the cost of signing one premium FA. The real issue should still be revenue sharing (more) among the owners to balance out small vs large markets.
  15. US dollars, but Canadian taxes. That same deal (or less) would have netted him more take-home in Minnesota than it does Toronto
  16. They should have been worrying about this the minute Lewis got injured
