  1. One of the issues with Buxton is that an absolute ton of his value is tied to his speed, both defensively and on the base paths. And at 24, he is only going to lose value in that regard. Not that I think he is going to be slow by 26 or 28 or 30, but he sure isn't going to get any faster. Guys like Morneau and Dozier and Koskie didn't have that issue because they had none of their value tied to their speed. So the longer it takes Buxton to figure things out offensively, the more value he loses on the bases and on defense. And the fact that he seems to be made out of glass isn't helping matters either. And his tendency to run into the walls at full tilt worries me a lot too, because his speed is his value until/unless he learns to produce at the plate with consistency.
  2. The guy hasn't pitched in days. If he can't pitch two days in a row he doesn't deserve to be on the roster anyways.
  3. This makes not using Magill even more baffling, if he wasn't being saved to start tomorrow.
  4. You'd think we'd want to avoid a bullpen game the day after this nightmare.
  5. One of the reporters better ask the question of why we went to Astudillo before McGill.
  6. And there are still people that think we have a chance of making the playoffs because we won some games against the Orioles and Royals.
  7. Well, unless we score some more, you're right, we won't lose by 6.
  8. I'd say its relevant because he is their closer and 39 of his 48 appearances have been save opportunities. Also it makes more sense to use a good pitcher a lot. Where as it doesn't make sense to keep riding the guy with a 1.465 WHIP. Diaz has a WHIP that is nearly half of Pressly's
  9. Also worth noting he has 36 saves. And his stats are just a liiiiiittle bit better than Pressly.
  10. Delmon might beg to differ http://crashburnalley.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/NICE-THROW-DELMON.gif
  11. Most little league players probably could've thrown further than that.
  12. I'm glad we got some more runs there, but what the hell was Dozier doing? Shouldn't have advanced to third. Then shouldn't have went home.
  13. Brian Dozier would be a fool not to take a QO and try to build his value back up. And we would be fools to offer him one.
  14. We better not go straight to the pen next inning. Anyone see if Slegers was getting handshakes in the dugout like he was done for the night?
  15. Dick keeps talking about how disappointing of a season Schoop is having with his average just over .200. He'd fit right in with our lineup.
  16. His batting average is half of his weight. That's good, right?
  17. I am highly doubtful Polanco will be a 4 WAR player. I'd be happy to be proven wrong, but I'm certainly not holding my breath. And while injuries certainly aren't helping this team, I agree that they're not at the top of the list of things going wrong with the Twins.
  18. They need a team meeting for the team to meet the new manager.
  19. I have no evidence in support, but it wouldn't surprise me if that number is low seeing how many things have been ruled hits this year when they clearly should be errors. Edit: And that is absolutely safe. Edit2: Or not. I definitely disagree based on the angles we were shown.
  20. I like that tactic though. Throw at the guy's face and let him strike himself out on the bunt attempt.
  21. Dozier isn't even trying. That "play" looked like he was just trying to protect his face
  22. Well, the bad news is this game isn't on tv, so I won't watch it. And the good news is this game isn't on tv, so I won't watch it.
  23. MLB debut, hasn't pitched out of the pen since spring training, tied game in the 10th, and this is the guy we go to? Edit: but, on the other hand, I don't like our other options either.
