  1. Well, we are Minnesota sports fans
  2. Now, I'm not a chef, but I'd think you'd be better served with a fridge than a freezer if you're intending to eat them tomorrow. Or you could just eat them tonight because no one ever specified that the winner had to be us in order to get in on that chicken dinner.
  3. Because he has no idea what he is doing with a bullpen?
  4. Reed owes Dozier dinner for the next week for that play.
  5. Oof. Gotta barehand that. I think thats too close for them to overturn unless they have a different angle. Edit: spoke too soon.
  6. With Wilson stealing home, would the play be at the plate or does he get back picked at 3rd because he doesn't make it halfway home before the catcher gets the pitch?
  7. Good teams score more than 1 run that inning.
  8. Your OBP is under .300, Brian. Maybe just settle for the single.
  9. The best starting pitcher this offseason is going to be Kershaw, but there is a 0% chance we get him. After that, Price might be the second best pitcher, and I don't think I'd even want him on this team, given his reputation. After that I'm not really sure who would be the top options, but the quality definitely drops rapidly. The good news is, there are going to be some position players getting really big contracts this upcoming offseason, and there is a possibility that may translate to less big buyers on the FA pitchers not named Kershaw. Or at least one can hope.
  10. I'm sure he'll be happy about the grand slam for a while at least.
  11. Half and half. Lot of runners would've been safe but it was a great throw.
  12. Alright, I'm not even mad. That was a sweet throw.
  13. I might've believed you if you told me before the season that our third baseman would be hitting this good, I just wouldn't have believed that it would be Escobar.
  14. Its a shame too because he has a great arm but so many of his throws are way off the mark or he makes stupid throws where he has 0 chance of getting the runner and it allows another runner to advance. In terms of Romero, he is a young rookie. People were getting all excited over a sample size of like 3 or 4 games and expected him to maintain that indefinitely? Some ups and downs should be expected with someone that young. C'mon Dozier, don't go trying to take off your leg protector like you just took ball 4, that wasn't even a pitchers pitch on the corner or something.
  15. Kinda damned if you do, damned if you don't. Not like we can really trust 5 innings from our bullpen either.
  16. And another stupid play. Edit: worked out ok, but there is still no reason for Rosario to be throwing home there.
  17. Well, that was stupid. You'd think this team would be halfway decent on the base paths with Molitor as manager.
  18. I'm ok with good news spoilers. A lot better than finding out that the game is going to be 1-6 in the not too distant future.
  19. edit: crap, i'm behind live from pausing a bit ago. I can't be in here.
  20. Same ownership, same approach, same results. Yeah, I'm glad we got Odorizzi this offseason and all but how is that any different than the last FO signing Phil Hughes or someone like that? No contender is looking at those type of pitchers and worrying about facing them in the playoffs. They aren't guys you trust to win you that 1 game wild card. They made an embarrassing lowball offer to Darvish. I dunno how serious they were about trade discussions for Archer or other pitchers, but the result is that we didn't get them. Our team isn't getting any younger. We're still signing guys like Belisle and not calling up many of our young arms. The fact is, that if I didn't follow the news and sites like this, I wouldn't have a clue that the FO was any different. Like I said, maybe this is the offseason they make a splash and make some big trades and sign some quality free agents now that a bunch of money is coming off the books, but I'll believe it when I see it. And on the Verlander note, I wouldn't have been a fan of selling the farm for him last season either, even if it were a possibility, which it wasn't. So we can agree on that front. This is all just my opinion and I'm just some random guy who likes to watch some baseball, so I have no qualms with you disagreeing or having a different opinion, thats just how I feel about the situation. And until they show me something different, I don't have much trust in them to provide us with different results. Firing Molitor would be a great start.
  21. Neither Mike nor I are saying that we should be trading the farm right now and be buyers for this season, it was meant to be a general statement on the front office and on the idea that you don't want to trade high end prospects ever. If you want to be a successful MLB team you gotta do some combo of developing your own prospects, trading your prospects for good players, or signing top tier free agents. The Twins haven't been doing any of those well in recent years, and unsurprisingly the result has not been good.
  22. I'm not arguing we should be buyers this year. My comment wasn't specific to this season. Hell, this thread is originally from last season. I'm saying this FO won't sign top free agents because the Twins have not signed any top free agents in recent years. If they go out there this offseason and sign top tier free agents, then I'll be happily proven wrong. As it stands, the Twins haven't signed any top tier free agents in a long long time.
  23. Most of them weren't good though. Developing players like Tyler Duffy isn't some impressive feat.
  24. If our FO won't sign top tier free agents, and we should be hesitant to trade any good prospects, and we struggle to develop our own prospects, how do we compete?
