    A 2 homer game should get you in the lineup. The hot/cold hand should get mixed into the philosophy even just a little. Overall I agree you got to ride it out with Farmer, Margot, Santana in the platoon and expect a progression to the mean…but I would sub Julien for Farmer based on yesterday’s game.

    If Santana and Farmer can make it into the lineup then I have no problem with Vazquez. He looks more unlucky than lost. Unlike those other two. I get the intent here but I don’t yet see a better offensive option on this team. Yet. I see why they are letting it play out. Before the white Sox series it didn’t look like we had 4 competent hitters on this team so another 7-14 days of wait and see who steps up makes sense.

    Rocco liked the transition of Varland too. And the lineup he trots out there each day. With each ugly loss Rocco’s opinion becomes less important, at least to me.

    It’s hard to lead when your team doesn’t believe in you. This team looks lifeless, unprepared and bored. I second the vote for a change.

    The good and the bad of this club right now is no idea is a stupid one. Anything is worth a shot. I think there is a non zero chance that Sands can pitch better than a 9+ era. Try it out! The major league product is absolute garbage so anything should be on the table. Otherwise we are just giving into to sub mediocrity.

    I would like to live in the reality where if your results suck then you don’t get a job with the big league cub. I wouldn’t want anyone to loose sight of the fact that the goal is winning the league so we have a shot at a championship. Varland has not earned a starting role. He got handed one cause we were stupid and believe in Desc. I support a next man up mentality with him ( and plenty other vets) I care far more about wins then anything else including pitch mix, velocity and player development. Varland throws things in the middle. When he does he gets destroyed and we lose = no big league job. This team is playing below replacement level, I would rather watch replacements right now.

    Agreed. Way too much exit velocity and umpire score carding complaints. this isn’t a bad luck spell. This is a bad team. With a bad offseason and a bad coaching staff. Good teams find ways to win. Bad teams find ways to beat themselves.

    Based on what we are seeing with Martin, Larnach and Kiriloff it’s time for the vets to perform to expectations (offensively) or ride the bench. The farm may want to keep helping. (Carmargo being next) Buxton, Santana, Vasquez looking at you.

    Yea I’ll take the over. We got to shake this rust off Hoping the team took a nice off day, went to the spa, did some yoga and feeling loose and ready to win a baseball game.

    I think Rocco pulling Pablo cost us a Baltimore game personally. The team also all seem to be asleep. I think it’s very debatable another manager could have 7 wins with this group. That being said, not advocating for replacing Rocco at the moment.

    SWR getting back some prospect hype is good. Especially considering converting a pitcher to the bullpen could also have a positive impact.

    Yea LAA is fun to watch. Man Ron Washington is hands on with that team. Seems to be having a huge impact.

    Yea Reds are fun to watch. I have a hard time watching Steer tear it up due to my homeless and Mahle’s poor impression. But they play with spunk for sure!
