  1. Unless they see Caratini playing 3rd or used as a DH (neither sounds acceptable), it would be crippling to use 2 bench spots on catchers
  2. As sad as it is, the Twins actually gained in BA and OPS replacing Gasper with Brujan. Of course, they did have an emergency catcher in Gasper. That said, I'll miss Luigi.
  3. Do you mean "blossoming" after they send him on his way? Good point. They do seem to be good at that. 😀
  4. "Everything is fine". Whistling past the graveyard?
  5. Martin, Buxton, Wallner, Larnach, Outman, and Roden says you have 2 outfielders on your 4 man bench. You need a spot for your #2 catcher. Only one available spot on the bench? Nope, somebody is getting moved. Stay tuned.
  6. Well, they found a way. Somebody said they should take Susac. I said there was no way, because Jackson is out of options, and there is no way the Twins can carry Jeffers, Jackson, and Susac on the 26 man. They only have have a 4 man bench, and there's no way they would carry 2 catchers on the bench unless one can play 1st. Just goes to show you what I know.
  7. I believe that everyone attending a Falvey press conference is in danger of developing lung cancer from all the smoke being blown around
  8. Jackson is out of options, therefore, unless they're willing to take a chance on losing him when they DFA him, they need to keep him on the active roster. If they claim a rule 5 guy, they are obligated to carry him on the active roster if they want to keep him. Maybe one of the three can play an adequate 1st base. That's the only way I can see to carry Jeffers, Jackson, and Susac, otherwise you have 2 catchers on your 4 man bench.
  9. When I first saw Eeles at Ft Myers, he gave me some serious "Charley Hustle" vibes. I believe the Twins could use more of that. Maybe the new staff will push a little harder.
  10. I don't see having another no-hit guy on the 26 man roster as a good thing. Somebody on the bench needs to be a viable Pinch Hitter. And if he starts, well, it's nice to have more than 5 guys in your lineup that make the opposing pitcher nervous.
  11. With the Pohlads "squeezing every nickel until the buffalo s...s", I don't envy Falvey. I used to get frustrated with Terry Ryan signing washed up pitchers. Now I know what that was all about. I'm back to my " let's not give the Pohlads any nickels" stance.
  12. How many spots can they afford to have occupied by Punch and Judy hitting corner outfielders? I think one is enough. And it's not like either of those guys is going to remind anyone of the Guardian's Kwan. I'd much rather they give Fedko a shot. Fedko has some pop (28 HRs), and runs well (38 SBs) with an .854 OPS.
  13. Both Wallner and Larnach need to go. All 4 outfielders at AAA (Rodriguez, Jenkins, Gonzalez, and Fedko) should be given a shot. It's not like the Twins would have to get much out of 2 of them to replace Wallner and Larnach. And they would be cheaper.
  14. And continually "trading for the future". The optics look like whenever a prospect works out and they will have to pay him, they trade him for more prospects. I know they try occasionally (Correa, Donaldson), but I feel like they keep holding up the "shining future" for the fans, and they think that should be enough for the fans to keep filling the seats.
  15. It's a pity that Sabato looked like he might have figured something out for a brief period this past season. Now I have to keep telling myself "hope is not a plan, hope is not a plan, hope is not a plan". Sigh!
  16. A .250 average and a gold glove is adequate anywhere, and more than acceptable at SS, CF, or catcher. You can carry one or two adequate ballplayers in your lineup, but, if your lineup is full up with adequate, you will be lucky to finish .500. It's not like the Twins are overflowing with mashers and thumpers, and it's much easier to find a thumper to play 1st.
  17. I hear that Joe Pohlad and Derek Falvey are pretty tight, so, I expect to see a "clone" of Baldelli. Someone has to be the sacrificial lamb; good bye, Rocco.
  18. Now I'm curious how that list compares to career RISP, but I'm as lazy as I am curious, so....
  19. "If the Pohlads would step aside". Now that they have "right sized the business" (probably more to come this Spring) there's little chance they are going anywhere. Doom and gloom and agony on me!!
  20. When you put it like that, it doesn't sound impressive at all.
  21. If Emilio Pagan is ever mentioned again, I'm going to have to come find you. 😃
  22. Early in the season I watched a Mussels game. Then watched 2 more, before I called my Daughter and told her to check out Payton Eeles. I predicted he would be in Wichita before the end of the season, because he had a real "Charley Hustle" vibe. So, they skipped him over Wichita and he went to the Saints. Now, I'm telling my Daughter that the Twins could use a guy with that kind of drive as a good example in the clubhouse. Even though he seems to have slacked off a bit (it's a long season), I'm standing by that. I want him on the club coming out of spring training. The Twins could use a little fire.
  23. One thing about Larnach is they don't have to look too hard to find a spot they can improve on
  24. I don't really want to get down on Funderburk, but I don't understand how anyone can be enthusiastic (other than his family) about him.
