  1. Actually, it is you who is wrong here. The leverage index for the plate appearance in question (Boshers vs RHB Jackson) was 1.30. Not 0.33. Citing a different plate appearance is misleading at best.
  2. The leverage index when Jackson batted with 2 runners on was 1.30. Above average leverage.
  3. Are you sure? The only source I've ever seen cited for this was a tweet from LaVelle -- which is no longer available (deleted?): https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/07/twins-outright-anthony-recker.html And it's not just the 40-man roster page -- Recker's own transaction page doesn't list it either. And I can't find any mention of it search MLB.com. Fox Sports lists the transaction, but still has Recker on the 40-man too. No story mentioning him being outrighted, though, so maybe they got the transaction from LaVelle's initial report?
  4. You're probably right. Santiago could easily go on the 60-day DL, he last appeared in MLB on July 2 and is now "aiming to resume throwing in 3 to 5 days."
  5. Could still be Turley or Jorge, I suppose. Both are on the 40-man. Although Santiago could probably go on the 60-day DL at this point, and Anthony Recker still could be removed (it was apparently erroneously reported that he was removed shortly after we acquired him).
  6. For doubleheaders scheduled more than 1 day in advance like Monday's, the 26th man is for both games. So it could be an extra reliever then too. http://www.thecubreporter.com/book/export/html/3506
  7. Interesting. We have a doubleheader coming up on Monday too. This pushes back Ervin to at least Saturday, and they might want to save either him or Colon for Monday so they don't need two rookies starting Monday.
  8. The decision to leave Boshers in was even more curious, given the commonly known weather forecast for the next day. Not that he should have ridden his bullpen too hard Tuesday, but it probably wasn't the time to squeeze more PA from Boshers either.
  9. Even May was hurt and ineffective for much of 2016, and Chargois missed two whole seasons and only had a month of effective MLB pitching on his resume. And like I always say, you don't have to cut them. You can certainly hope they contribute. But planning on 5 of 6? That's not bad luck, that's bad planning.
  10. That was one of the things that bugged me in the Gleeman - Levine interview: Counting on 5 of those 6 to be healthy and effective in MLB in 2017 never seemed realistic.
  11. De La Torre is actually 18 now, turned 18 in July. Only a month and a half younger than Royce Lewis, but B-Ref uses July 1st as "baseball age" for the season.
  12. Seems to be some confusion. He is still listed, but it had previously been reported that he was outrighted: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/07/twins-outright-anthony-recker.html His Fox Sports page shows that outright transaction too: http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/anthony-recker-player-transactions
  13. And he won. 5 IP, 1 run (1st inning solo HR). Retired the last 8 batters he faced, but pulled at 77 pitches. Since the start of July, here are Albers' AAA stats: 8 GS, 55.1 IP, 0.98 ERA, 6-0 W-L, 1.5 BB/9, 8.0 K/9.
  14. I'd guess Melo and Bard are not protected. Melo cleared waivers, so he's not going to be selected in Rule 5, and Bard turns 27 in November and they haven't shown a particular urgency to push him this year. We still have one more year of control over both Melo and Bard before they are eligible for minor league free agency. Tonkin will be eligible for minor league free agency this winter. I'd guess he is left off the roster too. Moya will probably get protected. Curtiss has been another fast riser the last 2 years, I'd guess he would be protected too. Reed got pushed earlier, but seems to have stagnated quite a bit, not sure on him anymore...
  15. That's just extrapolating based on the current roster, right? Doesn't look like the Twins have announced a starter for Saturday yet.
  16. He left Boshers in to face a good RHB, in a close game, after he failed to retire either of 2 LHB and we had an entire rested pen at our disposal after an off day.
  17. Reminded me statistically of Kohl Stewart's rookie league performance: 20 IP, 1.35 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, 84 batters faced, 4 walks, 13 hits (10 singles), while striking out 24 with a 50 percent grounder rate. Should that have reaffirmed our belief in the old regime?
  18. Maybe it's Buxton's fault for not pulling that ball down too.
  19. Would 2017 have been so surprising if 2016 hadn't been so bad? (Surprising in the wrong direction) Feels like Molitor is getting credit based on the low expectations for which he should share the blame.
  20. Waivers? I guess they might be able to get another team's Belisle...
  21. Ticket King Online is worth checking out too. 10% off code DAILYDOUBLE Seems like you often have to pick up at their office downtown, though. Personally I just get the cheapest ticket at the box office (no fees), and then walk around looking for an inattentive usher.
  22. Also, the Rochester season goes through September 4th, they are currently tied for the wild card, and there aren't many/any catching replacements in the org right now (keep in mind Chattanooga will need to keep its catchers for their playoffs too). Even though MLB rosters expand on September 1st, I suspect Garver will stay in AAA until they are eliminated, if not until their season/postseason is complete.
  23. In theory, they could go back down to 12 pitchers to roster Garver. But yeah, if they haven't done it by now, they aren't going to do it until September.
  24. If you are referring to postseason rosters, August 31st doesn't really matter anymore since Garver is already on the 40-man roster. http://www.thecubreporter.com/book/export/html/3549
  25. Bringing up Ramos for Capps isn't helpful in this context, because clearly that's not the market price for a decent rental reliever in 2017 (if it even was back in 2010 ). And I don't mean the new acquisitions are necessarily "minor league depth" like org depth (although Enns might be close to that), I mean they are C+ prospect depth. Hoping for the best, one of them might even contribute down the road, but at this point, there is nothing to suggest that the Twins outsmarted the market by acquiring these guys. Also, I'm not really including Moya in this analysis of the proceeds of the "sell" trades. Murphy hadn't appeared in a MLB game all season.
