  1. Yes the Twins are about to become very young but isn't it a HUGE assumption that they are also going to become very good as well? I sure think that is the case although I am optimistic that the youngsters will all be very good and we know that this will assuredly not happen to the degree that we all will desire.
  2. No doubt in my mind that Gardy will bench Arcia and other youngsters as soon as they hit a little rough patch which in my mind is counter productive with young ball players. Let them play through their tough stretches just as is done with veterans. The more at-bats the better I would think.
  3. From reading various things on the web it appears 13 pitchers is what the roster will look like and I vehemently oppose that approach as it makes the rest of bench almost useless as far as pinch hitters being available. With the relative lack of a solid hitting starting lineup isn't this approach foolhardy at best? I sure think so.
  4. Regarding the Mark Prior remark - what is the success/non-success rate of young pitchers in this regard? Historically say, in the last ten years or so. Gibson and Wimmers could very well wind up in the non-success column. Too early to tell about Stewart, Thorpe, etc. Thus I still take Turner at number 5 if he is still out there.
  5. To me it is Turner in a heartbeat without blinking an eye. There will be pitchers available farther down the line but not shortstops with the potential of Turner. And wouldn't they have taken Correa last year if Houston would have grabbed Buxton? I think so and that is your obvious answer for this year's first pick. Subject closed, right?
  6. Over reaction on this situation I'd say. Whoever plays shortstop on a regular basis should not make a huge difference as far as the season goes. Get by with simple adequacy at the position and worry about the real problem areas in the lineup, PLEASE!
  7. beckmt - Hope that Santana can get up next year, hmm, how about Goodrum?
  8. Is not Suzuki a much better glove man? Thus someone the older pitchers would rather have behind the plate? Just asking.
  9. johnnydakota - do you really believe Kubel is a "big" offensive addition? I certainly do not unless he returns to previous form before his terrible run last year. Pros and cons on Kubel, please.
  10. Isn't that another huge assumption about Boegarts? Let's see if he does indeed hit .280 with 25 HR when the season is over.
  11. Sure it is cheaply but is it effective where Guerrier is concerned? I believe there may have been better options out there and I'll say the same about Kubel as well. And it appears Santana is next. What is the fascination with bringing back ex Twins? Gate receipts, what? Explain it all to us will you please.
  12. Thrylos, that is a huge assumption I think when you say everything worked alright....We need much more of an explanation than that I believe. Jury is still out on some of these moves as being decent or not.
  13. I guess I do not understand "finding" a Guerrier, Jim H. That assumes he will be effective, doesn't it and I see no reason why he will be, at least any more so than the righty relief pitchers on the active roster now. He may even wind up on the Rochester roster come opening day.
  14. ^^^Great point and rebuttal, Seth. Why bring up Ortiz when the thread is about Sano!
  15. ^^^ Hmm, an assumption made by you that Sano and Buxton will be automatic contributors in 2016. Hopefully so but not a sure thing by quite a long shot I'd say. While just about everyone assumes they will be super stars that may never translate either. Let's take it all one step at a time please.
  16. That is really funny from Rosenthal. Delmon never had mobility in the first place, at least I never witnessed it, did any other posters?
  17. Way too early to assume that Pinto will/should be a solid player once he is "comfortable". Many of the worst players over the years have become "comfortable" and never amounted to anything.
  18. spycake, I think it is way too early to be skeptical about Danny Santana whatever type of talent he has now. He may mature into a fine player and then again, not. But let's wait awhile before we pass judgment on him or any of the other youngsters for that matter.
  19. To me Raley is simply just another warm body, how many really does the team need in Fort Myers? Signings such as these are surely getting tiresome, aren't they?
  20. I heartily disagree that we are "set" at most positions what with the talent currently on the roster and the prospects coming along. Unless "set" means more 90+ losses for a very long time. Sure the prospects look promising but many will stumble and as for the current roster I would define "set" and/or decent players as very few in number unless of course fans will settle for mediocrity for a number of years yet. Sorry to be so pessimistic but I am really trying to be realistic.
  21. To me when it is said Correia is "fine" it means fans are satisfied with mediocrity and will settle for innings eaters instead of better pitchers.
  22. Surely someone else has read Aaron's review, may we have some comments on it please.
  23. I appreciate these recent posts greatly as regards the spending or not with the Pohlad family. I had not thought about waiting to spend more when the young prospects are up so as to surround them with productive veterans that have playing experience.
  24. And correct me if I am wrong on this - most criticism about management is directed at Ryan it seems, I would like criticism directed more toward the Pohlads and their penurious ways and statements of what they planned to do and then backed off. I believe they have publicly stated that they would spend more money once Target Field was up and running and franchise income increased. But I do not believe they have delivered on that promise, do any of the other posters here?
  25. I am not playing around and I did not realize that I had already addressed this issue somewhat, sorry about the ambiguity and misunderstanding. Another member/poster may be able to frame it all better than I can.
