  1. I do not think we can yet say that May is a good return for Revere who was injured last season and may yet be one hell of a leadoff hitter for the Phillies. And if May turns into a relief pitcher there is really no comparison between the two. Let's wait on this one before we pass judgment, okay?
  2. To see players of limited talent get those kinds of contracts appalls me greatly but it is what it is I guess. It will also be nice when the team can get past using players of that nature, won't it?
  3. Actually I am asking where people can go to watch Twins game in Bismarck but would also be intrigued if there could be a Twins Daily get together out here. And also nice if someone from the Twin Cities forum could come out like once a year. It would be a lot of fun I think, hope others agree.
  4. How about the location of Twins hangouts outside of the Minneapolis/Saint Paul metropolitan area. Are there any not only in Minnesota or Wisconsin but North Dakota where I reside, Bismarck to be specific.
  5. Santana and Polanco both having nice years in the "off-season" leagues they are in, which is the more impressive line as regards to who may eventually be the Twins everyday shortstop? Or will neither? And wouldn't it be nice if Deolis Guerra would suddenly mature into a bona fide MLB pitcher? It would sure justify the Johan Santana trade after all of these years, wouldn't it?
  6. I agree 100% on having Florimon over Drew at shortstop this year and perhaps in 2015 as well. As stated this is not the year to panic, not even a tiny bit, let's do that if and when the young prospects in the minors do not develop into MLB players.
  7. I've been skeptical on "Molly" as the manager in 2015 and going forward but reading all of the positives about him willing to adapt I now think that is the way for the franchise to go. And boot Gardy up to V.P. also.
  8. After reading all of the Florimon vs. Drew stuff plus "between the lines" suppositions I still think Bartlett and/or Santana will be just fine at shortstop until a much better player than any of these four winding up on the roster in 2015 or 2016.
  9. And speaking of Mendoza isn't it quite possible that Florimon is a clone of Mario's? With the bat to a tee I am thinking.
  10. To me Parmelee absolutely killing it is a far cry from reality as is Willingham returning to 2012 form. And why move Dozier to third and put Escobar at second? Wouldn't Escobar simply going to third be more logical? However, Arcia improving I can easily see.
  11. I think it is all setting up very nicely to see who is not or never will be ready when the good kids are and then there will be much better and brighter FA acquisitions next Winter. Hopefully the stop-gap players (we know who they are) will be history come opening day in 2015.
  12. I'd say Trevor0333's roster would have an excellent shot at another 90+ loss season.
  13. How about Delmon, put him in right with Willingham in left and Arcia in center, that would be worth a few laughs, to hell with good baseball until 2015.
  14. The presence of Drew (or not) will have no appreciable difference in how the Twins finish in the 2014 standings pure and simple.
  15. USAFChief - great lines about getting your best hitter out of the lineup for defense and trying to get 7 relievers into the game by the end of the 8th. Are we sure you are not using USAFChief as a disguise for "The Common Man" or is it indeed you, Dan Cole?
  16. Florimon will hardly equal Ortiz's numbers even if they threw underhand to him for the rest of his MLB at bats.
  17. Any team that has all three of Presley, Mastroianni and Parmelee on the roster is assuredly not one that I am anxious to watch. Hopefully by August only one of those three if even that is still around. How many agree with me/or not on this premise?
  18. I cannot imagine any scenario where Colabello is on a MLB roster, he is 30 years old and to me just about the same as a retread talent-wise or perhaps even worse. He will assuredly look nice on the Rochester roster.
  19. I think any Twins' fans would take Abreu like numbers from Arcia. And I'd sure like to see some of the attitude Gardy displays toward him be a thing of the past, none of the young players need that, at least I sure do not think so. Encouragement not disparagement toward the younger players is what is needed from management at all levels.
  20. I would think ALL of us would like to see a Hicks/Buxton/Arcia outfield by August, wouldn't we? That would be fun to the max. Why will it happen or not?
  21. As I have posted previously way too much discussion time is being spent on the shortstop subject, let's talk about REAL players already on the roster and/or others who may be acquired this year and in the years to come. Present roster - Mauer, Dozier, Arcia and that is about it, other players to be acquired - who knows at this point? And in fact Bartlett may be a decent stopgap until a really good kid surfaces, in fact he may be as decent as Hardy was minus the homeruns.
  22. Brock, I think you are the only one that says the Twins have zero shortstop prospects in the high minors and you are probably correct but some of the guys in the lower minors may turn out to be half way decent - Santana, Polanco, Goodrum just to name three, give them a chance without dismissing them just yet.
  23. As mentioned by me previously I am thinking of down the line when the good prospects are up and producing, three years say - and if they hit like those Oriole's teams with Belanger then it is quite moot as to who the shortstop will be. Okay, so I am too optimistic.
  24. The enthusiasm for Drew mystifies me greatly, sure he would be an upgrade over Florimon but I'd rather see them beef up the hitting at other positions, good teams get by with weak hitting shortstops, see the great Baltimore teams with Belanger at SS. Plus by the time the Twins are ready to contend neither Florimon or Drew will be anywhere near being on the roster, it will be Polanco, Santana, Goodrum or a shortstop they may draft this June. Get your hitting from the outfield or corner positions as most of the MLB teams do, pretty simple, isn't it?
  25. It has been written fairly regularly over the years many are disturbed by the team's approach to health problems with their players especially as regards input from their own medical people on the payroll and outside physician input. When, if ever, will this situation be rectified?
