  1. All these fancy advanced stats give me a headache. Just tell me two things - can the get a hit when you really need it and can he pick it also when that is needed? Pretty basic, isn't it?
  2. Brandon says the Twins can always put Pelfrey in the pen but can he pitch well in that sort of situation? Many starters cannot make that transition, look at some of the results.
  3. I say pass on Drew as by the time the other young players are ready for a division/pennant run all three of Polanco, Santana and/or Goodrum will be more than adequate at shortstop. And this does not even take into account that the Twins may draft a terrific young shortstop also who may be ready for MLB by 2016 or so.
  4. It is mentioned here trade Correia when the time is right. What MLB team really needs Correia anyway and why would they trade for him - simply makes no sense.
  5. Physics Guy, outstanding analysis on where Twins should look for upgrades in their lineup and I believe it should not be addressed until the crop of "kids" is ready and we see how they perform, some will be fine, others not. When the team determines that then the time to sign free agents is nigh. In addition a good fielding shortstop should be the priority at that position, the hitting can come from other spots in the lineup.
  6. Wouldn't Polanco be considered ahead of Santana amongst the young shortstop/middle infielders? And there is also Goodrum to consider.
  7. I would think that MLB teams would be in more control of their employees as regards their contracts (or not) in the off season, can anyone enlighten us on this situation?
  8. I believe it is a given that the Twins have too many # 9 hitters in their lineup, I'd like to see that notion disputed, please.
  9. Many pennant contenders have employed good field no hit shortstops, it is not a position that calls for a great hitter by any means.
  10. So will the Twins jump in and offer Garza something after Tanaka is signed or not? And is it really necessary to even do so? I think there are now enough potential starters either on the MLB roster or in the minor leagues.
  11. And when Polanco is MLB ready how would he rank here?
  12. Mentioned in this thread is that Correia will at some point go to the pen even early on, somehow I do not think the manager will do that with him, anyone else out there think this way also?
  13. His stats do not seem to bear that out, at least they do not look that impressive to me.
  14. What is the point of the signing of C. J. Ziegler? He seems like simply roster filler for Rochester but perhaps I am wrong. Anyone out there who can help us on this player?
  15. jay: I have been hyper critical of certain players and I'll try to cease and desist in the future. My main point with all of that is trying to get good discussion on really worthwhile players and not marginal ones. I see no point in discussing non entities who may be on the roster in 2014 but will be nowhere near it when the next wave of really potentially excellent players land on the roster. While we are all hoping for a decent 2014 season for the team as a whole we all know that the really good teams hopefully will start surfacing in 2015 and beyond.
  16. Kepler is the type of player that should be getting ink in this forum not never-will-bes such as Parmelee, Pflouffe and others of that ilk. He has promise, the other two amongst others do not.
  17. What other MLB team outside of Houston would even consider Colabello for a roster spot, a ridiculous option to the max. Unless, of course, the franchise is shooting for the neighborhood of ninety losses one more time.
  18. Kwak, you are summing up a lot of posts well here I believe. Way too many words expressed in the forum about marginal players and I do not have to name them again, we all know who they are and hopefully NONE of them will be around two or three years hence. If they are then the franchise is in much deeper trouble as a winning organization than we realize, isn't it?
  19. How in the world can it be said that Parmelee has shown he can hit major league pitching in the past - that statement simply boggles the mind.
  20. Old Twins Cap nails it perfectly as far as I am concerned as does Thrylos, these feel good stories are getting awfully old and tiresome. Let me see some real prospects coming up not "never will be's", we know the difference, let's not try to sugar coat it all.
  21. What is the deal on Mastroianni having a "stress reaction" and Twins medical staff thinking it was a minor thing? Haven't we heard this before with other Twins' players? It is not written about much but that opinion is out there, I do not remember where I have seen it but it exists. I hardly think this is the way to run a purported MLB organization, do any of you?
  22. Danchat, I hardly think any team would fear losing Colabello, in fact most would welcome it. What is the fascination with him anyway? He is already thirty years old and simply cannot hit MLB pitching nor can he play decently in the field either.
  23. Let's hope Hicks comes around so we do not have to employ the Mastro's of this world and just who in the hell is going to be a Jim Thome level player that the Twins can sign?
  24. I am solidly behind Thrylos on the bullpen, mediocre at best. How about inherited runners being allowed to score - I doubt that the Twins rank high there.
  25. Double concur on Colabello and that type, those sorts bring nothing to a good MLB team. Unfortunately the Twins people their roster with them.
