  1. Colabello should be NO part of ever seeing time at first base nor should he even be considered for any kind of roster spot. Oops, Rochester's roster would be ideal for him.
  2. Some here mention the prowess of Fryer and Hermann as base runners. Hello! What's up with that? Being good baserunners is hardly what teams look for in their catchers.
  3. I hardly think Arcia can be considered mediocre just yet, he still has much promise, whether he delivers or not in the long run is of course problematical.
  4. elee612, wonderful post you gave us here. As you point out clearly it is really all about love for the game and the romance of it on the field.
  5. I worded my last comment clumsily - sure the injuries have occurred but shouldn't they be discussed by management and also the fans?
  6. A simple question: are Gregorious and/or Owens any better than Santana or Polanco? If they are try to acquire them, if not, forget about trading anyone for either one of them.
  7. Finally, someone mentions Pinto and his injury problem(s) and shouldn't there also be concern about Sano's? Reality is not being addressed when these sorts of things are occurring.
  8. How in the world do you get a big time bat with the likes of Correia and Gibson, no team would go for anything like that.
  9. Many posters are saying just go with Pinto but do not mention his bad elbow, what's the timetable there? And I would also not trade for a middling player/players who will be in their last contract year in 2014, that is counter productive to say the least.
  10. A. J. not mentioned in this thread - wouldn't he be a better and more logical choice? I sure think so, I wonder what the veteran pitchers would say if it came down to a choice between the two.
  11. Quite a few pitchers out there and what concerns me is that Ryan will late too long to sign someone decent and will get left with nothing. At what point in time last year did he have to settle for guys like Pelfrey and Correia and miss out on others that would have been better pitchers. Surely someone has done a breakdown of this. And the trade for Worley is really in the same category. Could Ryan asked for a better pitcher than Worley turned out to be?
  12. What is the true story of Molitor and cocaine usage and is it still relevant?
  13. Brandon, to me the potential starting pitching for next year as you outline it is a recipe for disaster for sure. That group was terrible this year so why would they be any better in 2014?
  14. While the relief pitching this past season appears to be a bright spot especially as far as ERA goes one must remember that inherited runners being allowed to score was terrible in 2013 and that is the true way to judge relief pitching, isn't it?
  15. Somewhat off topic but here goes - Quite a bit of praise is heaped on the Twins' bullpen for a good year in 2013 but most of it is predicated on their ERA's being decent to good. However, allowing inherited runners to score or not is never brought up and isn't that the best barometer for relief pitchers? I sure think so, how about some intelligent discourse on this topic?
  16. Perhaps I am in the minority but I prefer Chris Attebury when he subs for Dan, as smooth as Cory but not so much verbiage which tends to wear on me.
  17. Many of these replies have been frivolous but the serious ones are right on, it is way past time that the Latin players are treated with much more respect than they are presently, anyone else agree or not? We have seen Eddy Guardado give a most gracious speech at his Twins' Hall induction, to me he would be an excellent choice as pitching coach as he is fluent in two languages. Perhaps even a base coach as Cuellar is already on the team. And I am more and more leaning towards Steinbach as the next manager instead of Molitor.
  18. What I fear about any kind of "rebuild" is what are the Pohlad's real motives long term. I am thinking they are looking to go the route of Houston and Miami thus just worrying about making huge sums of money without having to improve the product on the field. It sure looks that way so far to me.
  19. Regarding Brad Boyer - What is the reasoning behind signing a career independent league player just to fill out the New Britain roster? In the long run I would think a Fort Myers player should have been promoted, at least there is a little bit of potential there instead of signing a guy who has not played organized ball since 2010.
  20. I believe that what the Pohlads will do is simply bring up the entire Rochester managerial staff but will that work? One poster at least thinks Glynn is terrific so it might. I would rather see them get an entire management crew from some other MLB organization that really knows what they are doing. One example for sure is Tampa Bay. What other organization?
