  1. If that happens, I will type out a few harshly worded posts on a TD forum.
  2. I think fans like players who are joking around, having fun, seeming to enjoy the game. Hunter flashes that million dollar smile and fans like him. Sano seems to be affable in the same way. Moreso than Rosario or Buxton. Definitely more than Mauer. I think that factors in to the cheers a lot...and maybe more than the actual numbers that they put up.
  3. I need more clarification before I put in a bid. A billion what, exactly?
  4. Clowns to the left and jokers to the right.
  5. Maybe Lady luck will be on the Twins side this evening. And Mauer should have just pulled up and run into Conger. It's like getting the defender in the air in basketball -- just run into him, and it's an automatic foul.
  6. Concur. But I'm not holding my breath.
  7. I hope Pelfrey can keep the Astros somewhat in check tonight. Either that, or Sano, Dozier, and Hicks all homer and the Twins score double digits. Certainly facing some tough pitchers this weekend. They are gonna have to earn a fifth series win in a row....
  8. Great piece. Maybe this is overblown, but it seems to me that Sano is the type of unique talent who does better against the top level of competition....and that maybe his minor league track record, while good, doesn't do justice to what he is doing and will be able to do against major league pitchers.
  9. I don't see JO Berrios name anywhere on here.
  10. Player A has been hitting leadoff for a team every day, whereas Player B hasn't even been a regular starter.
  11. Here is a comparison since this year's trade deadline: Player A: .221/.321/.323 for an OPS of .644 with 4 HRs and 2 doubles. Player B: .293/.369./.573 for an OPS of .962 with 4HRs and 9 doubles. Any guesses?
  12. August record: 13-13. Could still manage a winning record with two more wins this weekend, even with sweeps in Toronto and NY.
  13. Are we sure the Twins aren't chasing the Astros?
  14. While the Twins face Archer....Rangers get David Price and Angels get Verlander. What is it, Friday night college night?
  15. Hmmm. Trying to generate some reaction to this. I'm at a loss.
  16. Twins haven't had a 6 game winning streak since they won 8 straight back in June of 2011. Seven of those eight games were at Target Field.
  17. It's like the holy grail. "Terry, I've found it! I just saw a young player here in Germany with a crap-taking pivot that we have been looking for all these years."
  18. Here's my attempt to sort out the scenario: AL East champ: 4 teams, two days to crown a champ. AL West champ: 3 teams, draw lots for one team to get a bye, other two play, winner plays bye team for division crown. Then you have six teams and two wild card spots. Draw lots for two byes. Other four teams play, winners advance to play the bye teams. Winners of those games are the two wild card winners, and they advance to play each other in the actual Wild Card game. It's like an 8-team draw with two byes. It would take 9 games and four days, I think. And in this scenario if the Twins lucked out and got a bye, they would only need one win to advance to the WC.
  19. One game at a time. And, in the original scenario, another game at a time. And another. And another.
  20. 5 game winning streak would be nice.
  21. Huh. I thought for sure the reaction would be "Don't change a thing, except maybe go to more games...."
  22. I've been to see Sano play in two games now; today and two years ago for a New Britain game against Bowie, in Maryland. Sano homered in both games in the first inning, and I was parking the car and walking up both times. In Bowie, he was courteous enough to homer again that day so I could see it. Today he only doubled.
