  1. Why not give Adam Walker or Daniel Palka a shot?
  2. Schafer is replacing Danny Santana, with Santana going on the DL. Schafer is hitting .264/.340/.361 (.701) for Rochester as a 29 year old. This is simply baffling.
  3. With all this talk of Blankenhorn, a mention of his impressive numbers on the season seems necessary: .314/.362/.549 (.911) with 10 HR and 40 RBI in 52 games, and he just turned 20 years old this month.
  4. With about a month left in the regular season, I thought it would be a good time to discuss the award races in the MLB, and there are some interesting ones. I'll start with my picks for the AL: MVP: Jose Altuve Cy Young: Cole Hamels - A case can be made for Zach Britton too ROY: Michael Fulmer - Fulmer has struggled a little lately. Could open the door for Naquin or Kepler... or Gary Sanchez (smh) And for the NL: MVP: Kris Bryant Cy Young: Madison Bumgarner - A close second for me is Max Sherzer ROY: Corey Seager - This is an easy one, but I would've liked to have seen the numbers Trevor Story could have put up. Thoughts?
  5. I hope we don't have to worry about having a minor league option for Gonsalves in 2019, but I agree that it probably wouldn't be the best idea to bring him up this September. It sure would be fun to watch though!
  6. Only 1.5 back of Atlanta now. At least we have something to root for.
  7. 2-6 for Buxton... but 3 more K's yesterday. In his last 10 games, he's K'd 19 times in 42 AB's. He's still hitting .310 over that stretch, but this is not what I was hoping to see him do. Why can't we have nice things?
  8. I wonder why a team wouldn't just claim him to block a trade to some other team. The Twins wouldn't have just let him go for nothing.
  9. Palka has had a much better overall season though. He's got an .879 OPS compared to Walker's .795. If they decide to give Walker a look because of the 40 man situation instead of Palka, I'm not going to be too upset about it. Maybe he'll have the classic on fire month that we've seen in recent Septembers.
  10. On the College Gameday preview show this morning, Kirk Herbstreit picked the Gophers to win the West this year. LOLz and good luck with that. I would guess 3rd could be a possibility. Iowa is my pick, followed by Nebraska.
  11. Over/Under on Robbie Grossman's walk total against Liriano tonight: 3.5? I'll take the over.
  12. Tonight's lineup: Dozier Grossman Plouffe Sano Kepler Polanco Escobar Suzuki Rosario
  13. I hope it's not a pure numbers guy that the Twins hire. We saw what Friedman just did to the Dodgers in potentially upsetting the entire team right as they were rolling with the Ellis/Ruiz swap. I'm not saying Friedman is a bad GM (or whatever his title is), but there needs to be a balanced perspective at the top.
  14. So Wimmers was a great college pitcher, then forgets how to throw a baseball when bumped up to professional baseball. Berrios is a great minor league pitcher, but looks awful when in the majors. Byron Buxton is a total stud in the minors, but looks absolutely lost when promoted to the majors... Not that these are necessarily related, but I think there's a flaw in the system (possible understatement of the year) Oh yeah, good luck to Alex Wimmers. And throw the ball over the plate please!.
  15. If Molitor is trying to "protect the team," I don't think Pat Dean and Andrew Albers are going to do much to help that. This is ridiculous.
  16. I think it's good for young players to take their lumps, especially in a terribly lost season. Now is the perfect time for Berrios to work through his struggles. He's not going to learn how to command his pitches by continuing to dominate AAA.
  17. Because dominating AAA helped so well the last time? They've got one or two starts before Rochester's season is over anyway. They need to get experience against MLB hitters, especially Berrios.
  18. Pat Dean and Andrew Albers are 2/5 of the rotation. I feel like it's 2013 again.
  19. So they're going to get 2 starts or whatever for the Red Wings? What's the point?
  20. Max Kepler is the best too.
  21. 16 K's in his last 38 AB's, and hitting .237 over that 10 game span. Why can't we have nice things?
  22. Jorge Polanco is the best.
  23. Pat Light supposedly throws 99-100 in the minors. Wellll, more like 94-95 when he pitches for the Twins.
  24. Here's a fun stat: J.T. Chargois has a rate of 2.2 K/9 in his first 8.1 innings.
  25. I agree with that. He's still at 10.2 K/9 before the game though. I'm not sure how it's that high.
