  1. As everyone knew all offseason, we needed more starting pitching. I was one of very few people here upset we didnt snag Seth Lugo after the budget cut announcement, he could've been had easily. One of the few things I blame the FO for and not ownership
  2. Agreed, I'm actually very unfamiliar with how rosters work in the minors. Is whoever gets booted just sent to AA? Hopefully we don't have to release any sort of prospect with even minimal value
  3. Nothing wrong with some minor league depth, just sucks we've reached this point with injuries 2.5 weeks into the season
  4. I just dont think Varland has done enough to merit any kind of leash. We need to ride hot hands when they are hot, especially when it comes to young guys with options. I would give him one more start to show what he's got and then give SWR another look if he falls flat
  5. I honestly don't see the point of assigning wins or losses to individual players at all in baseball, especially in this era of pitching. I'd be fine ditching it as a stat all together. If it is kept around though, why not start getting position players involved too? If Correa hits a 3 run bomb and throws out a runner at the plate i think that should be a W. 0-3 with RISP and an error? Thats an L. Stuff in between can be a no decision at the discretion of the official scorer
  6. If Joe Pohlad made a decision that will hurt our playoff chances after our most successful season in 20 years as some sort of challenge to Falvey then he's even more of a moron than I already thought. He slashed payroll for the same reason every other owner slashes payroll, more money in his pocket.
  7. Well he passed the only one the guy who signs his paychecks actually cares about so I'm sure he'll still get a glowing performance review
  8. Dude just cannot go all out without overextending something
  9. Royce Lewis 1.000 AVG season still on the menu
  10. At least he's widening the zone for both teams!😃
  11. Getting a Laz Diaz masterclass today
  12. Royce Lewis 5.000 OPS season still on the menu
  13. Hey now, it could be Buxton at DH... and Margot in center
  14. If they don't see any of our young leftys as everyday players then just trade them for some starting pitching
  15. https://www.chron.com/sports/astros/article/astros-opening-day-tickets-19023142.php Thought this was an interesting article showing the median opening day ticket price among all 30 teams. When comparing to payroll it paints an interesting picture. The Twins aren't great sporting the 8th highest ticket price vs 18th in payroll. But it could be worse, the A's are 9th and 30th respectively. On the flip side Mets fans have it ''good'', they are 24th in ticket price while holding the highest payroll in the league
  16. Hope springs eternal, my gut is not very optimistic about this team. But I'll still be at 15+ games cheering my heart out
  17. I think they will just barely eke out an above .500 record and lose the division to either the Tigers or Royals. We have one starting pitcher with an established track record of 'consistently good'
  18. And Sale is looking pretty damn good for ATL, that would've been a sweet pickup for us. ATL is only paying $10.5M of his salary
  19. Well he already had hitting for power and throwing ability so the third was the newfound speed 😂
  20. Yep, could've signed him and still been over $10M under last years payroll. I'm sure Falvey had to work within the constraints Joe Pohlad set. I mean why not just pocket the new TV revenue?
  21. Deal is 1 year $25M with a 2nd vesting year for $25M if he starts 10 games (so pretty much 2 yrs $50M barring injury) Update: It takes 23 starts for him to get the full $25M on the second year, 10 starts gets him $20M
