  1. If the Twins are a Yugo, what does that make the Astros? Or the Indians?
  2. So Long Burton, Duensing, Swarzak, Deduno, Thielbar. Hello ?????
  3. Nice to see some high draft picks scattered throughout this article.
  4. Next "Twins top 10 prospects" should be recalibrated as "Twins Top Healthy Prospects." Santana and Vargas get high notes. It is getting ridiculous.
  5. I blame it on bad kismet. The Twins should hire a swami to flush the metaphysical pipes out. Too eerily familiar.
  6. His numbers stand out especially considering the team he plays for. He surely would have had some crazy money thrown his way.
  7. Would have liked to see Guerra. Romero would have been a feel good after his loyalty to the organization - I expect he will move on next season. I don't know the ins/outs of the 40 man and what not, but I would have liked to see more emphasis on the future and less on rewarding good performance at AAA.
  8. If the Twins did this, I'd be angry, and I rarely get angry about the Twins. #1 overall picks are hard to come by, and to bobble it with this level of ham-handedness is an embarasment. That they managed to bollocks up the 5th rounder as well is the gravy. Takes me back to Travis Lee days....
  9. 1000 times this, although their crimes/stupidity may carry their own punishment.
  10. I have experience teaching English as a foreign language. Maybe I should propose the Twins hire me as roving language instructor.
  11. Looking forward to the Twins having a bullpen with that kind of arm in it. Thanks for posting the article.
  12. Wade had a couple other wild looking pitches in his inning. By design?
  13. I turned the game off after that hit. I could see that Hughes was about to have his magnificent performance up to that point ruins by nibble-nuts bloops and bleeders. That's baseball.
  14. Wasn't it Correia who got swapped for as yet unknown returns?
  15. sometimes open mindedness can bite you in the butt: Nishi, Delmon, perhaps Nolasco (though not tonight). Draft and develop should always be the founding principle imo - free agents and trades happen when you have needs and the pieces available to make the deals you need. We can see some surplus building up in the infield now, and thet should be parleyed into filling needs in other areas. The Twins are 100% on the right track for me. Build up the system, and good things will happen. Wild spending sprees only make sense if you are a piece or two away from contending. It's no way to build a team, especially a middle of the pack team like the Twins.
  16. Here's hoping he reverts to the norm....
  17. Good choices - give some guys who missed time to catch up.
  18. Along with failed draft picks, injuries, letting the wrong players go, etc.
  19. Would have loved to see this guy in a Twins uniform. Still, I don't think the Twins will ever be players in the mad-money category. Not making excuses for the tightwads...er, Pohlads, but seriously, if you think the playing field is level in MLB between the Twin Cities, KC, Cleveland, and NY Chicago, LA, you are sorely mistaken. The teams that do best in our tier are well-run, and ahead of the curve, like we were in the MacPhail/Kelly years. Oakland, Tampa Bay, even St. Louis, they don't run with the big boys in money too often, and neither will the Twins.
  20. OTOH, he is 10th in the AL in Strikeouts, tied for 2nd in Wins, 13th in IP. Pitching for this team.
  21. I like what Dougie Baseball is doing down there.
  22. I'd say Hughes has been more than just "average."
  23. I had that same thought. Funny old game this baseball. They should go after Kennedy too and complete the troika.
  24. Thanks much for this - player development is key, but winning along the way is a close second for me. Instilling a winning spirit in the lads can't but help.
