  1. Larnach to the College World Series Final on Monday vs. Arkansas.
  2. Nice read SD. The biggest change I've noticed is $2 bleacher seats at the Met, to $7 at the Dome, to $16 at TF. Moneyball indeed.
  3. Well, at least he's gonna get after it. Should fit right in. I do wish he'd work his tail off too though.
  4. Nice words from Pedro - he was even smaller the Jose, and started out a bit younger. His age 25 year was when he really busted out and grabbed the Cy Young and was at the top for years. Berrios is tracking pretty well so far, not to say he'll ever reach Martinez' heights. Fun to see considering where the comparison comes from though. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/martipe02.shtml
  5. I also thank Mr. Buhr for a good read. Bechtold is having his share of difficulty in Cedar Rapids: .199 BA, .521 OPS. At 22 you'd like to see him move up before the 19 year old, but they both look in need of more time at low A.
  6. Larach was a tough out for the Gophers in their super-regional, which was the silver lining. Couple other Twins draftees may be on display tonight as super-regionals wind up. 24. Michael Davis, Texas Tech. Senior infielder, playing short mainly. https://www.vivathematadors.com/2018/6/5/17426850/2018-mlb-draft-prospect-senior-infielder-michael-davis He had 3 RBI in game 1. 31. Zach Neff, Mississippi State, Senior lefty reliever Fun video of teammate's opinion of the man here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hDDxCAZgh8 Both these games will stream in ESPN Live. edit: 17. Erik Cha, Cal-State Fullerton lefty senior is also still in the running
  7. According to the draft signing tracker here, he actually came in 150K+ over slot.
  8. Gordon and Gonsalves >> Petit and Littell.
  9. This is kind of the inverse of what saw the Twins send Ramos to Washington for Capps. Panic, no good. Garver is still finding his way at the MLB level, 57 games. I'd rather give him a chance to grow into the job than make a short-sighted trade. Catcher isn't holding the Twins back at this point.
  10. As a father of 2, my experience was, 0-2 is sleep deprivation; 3-9 is just the tops of the tops - you the man, or woman, in their lives; 10-18 is the challenge of balancing what the kids want and the outside world with the relationship you have built up to that point. Good cop, bad cop, friend or parent, it all gets muddled. 18-24 is where it all comes together for better or worse. In my case, it was better, but I've watched it go south with some of my kids' friends. Best of luck to all of you who are parents. Certainly puts baseball in perspective.
  11. There may be a diamond or two in the rough.
  12. 8 of the Twins 10 picks in the 20s are college seniors. Like the dip into division 2 with Blank.
  13. Here are some articles about 8th rounder Chris Williams from the Clemson Insider: https://theclemsoninsider.com/tag/chris-williams/
  14. Found this article on 10th rounder Regi Grace https://www.clarionledger.com/story/sports/high-school/2018/06/05/madison-centrals-regi-grace-picked-minnesota-twins-mlb-draft/675320002/
  15. We don't know for sure, but it looks like the Twins may have saved enough bonus money through the early rounds to add in the 5-7 range, which is exactly what they did last year. They also saved a good amount rounds 8-10.
  16. Riskier in terms of signability? Or floor/ceiling risky?
  17. Found this recap of that game: He had been battling tendinitis in April as well.
  18. Cole Sands out of Florida State - a real live pitcher in the 5th.
  19. That first graphic is shocking - hadn't realized the Twins were that awesome to finish out 2017. Optimist says maybe they'll do the same in 2018. 162 games will have peaks and valleys.
  20. There are enough rounds in a baseball draft to take a couple fliers on local guys. For every Restovich there is a Neshek.
  21. In spite of his rough patch a while back, he has some pretty impressive numbers league-wide, as of 5-22. 5 W - tied for 6th in AL 61.1 IP - 11th in the AL 59 K - 15th in AL Opponent avg .196 - 9th in AL WHIP 0.91 - 5th in AL The not as good: Homers allowed 12 - 20th in AL ERA 3.82 - 25th in AL Still for a guy yet to hit 24, these are stellar numbers. Apart from Severino, Snell and McCullers, most the guys around him in these comparisons are late 20s-early-mid 30s. For me. #1 target for a long-term deal now. The way he trains and takes care of himself, and his drive to succeed, spell ace. He is already looking like a top pitcher in the AL now.
  22. The elephant in the room: Sanó's weight/conditioning. Guy is about to turn 25, but is somewhat of a wreck physically. 116 is the most games in a season for him in the majors. His legs are barking. He becomes dubious as a long-term asset when he can't even stay healthy running out ground balls. He should be at his peak right now, but I'm not seeing it. BTW, I know the elbow and the shin weren't his fault.
  23. ESPN guys in love with LaMarre's beard. Weird.
