  1. I'm glad the Twins didn't sign them when they had the chance over the offseason. It has turned out that putting Grossman, Vargas, Escobar, and whoever is hot at DH has worked pretty well (.252/.346/.403 so far) and saved the Twins some cash. Still, if we could get Bautista on the cheap, I'd give him a share of the DH role. He has always hit HRs easily at Target Field.
  2. This is exactly what I was going to post. I like me some Polanco, but if you trade Gordon, we're stuck with a rotating door with Polanco doesn't figure things out. I don't think Vielma is a starter at short, I don't think Lewis will end up at SS, and the best guys are years away. I would still make Gordon available and consider sending him in a trade for starters with multiple years of control, but I would hold onto him very tightly.
  3. I don't think Adrianza's going anywhere. He is the front office's guy and they've moved DanSan and Vargas off the roster for him. And with his solid bat so far, he can rotate with Polanco and Escobar with Jorge's play dropping off.
  4. Wow, that was quite the play by Polanco. That was Andrelton Simmons-esque. I'm very disappointed to see Busenitz go back to AAA. It should have been Pressly - he needs more time at AAA and Busenitz needs more MLB experience, but hopefully the two will switch spots before too long.
  5. I dunno, I always had a hard time watching Joe Nathan save games. He was always pretty good but there was just something about how he pitched...
  6. I'm not sure why the Twins are trusting Duffey in a high leverage situation like this, he's been really bad the last few weeks. They have other options...
  7. Duffey's been brutal as of late. Maybe Hildenberger could take his role?
  8. It's good to see Mejia make it through 7 innings for once. Let's hope he can keep this up and eat some more innings that the bullpen wouldn't have to account for.
  9. That was a great inning, but can we quit it with the baserunning mistakes? It seems like we've had one in each of the past 5 games or so.
  10. I wouldn't lump Boshers in with Breslow and Belisle. Over the past calendar year in the majors, Boshers has a solid 3.62 ERA [FIP of 2.84 in 2016!] with a BB/9 of 1.8 and K/9 of 8.4 - though his strikeouts have dropped off so far this season, but the sample size is a bit small. He's leagues ahead of those two right now, and while Boshers is probably just a placeholder at this point, at least he isn't losing the Twins games. He's the type of guy we need in the bullpen while we wait for our injured prospects to get healthy - Belisle and Breslow are not.
  11. Amen! I was just looking up Hildy's minor league stats earlier today, and I was surprised by how good he's been! I think he can become a Neshek - or, at least he has the potential. I'm glad the Twins gave him a shot and I'd have to say he's definitely impressing me.
  12. It's crazy how our backup catcher now has more HRs than our starting first baseman... I know I keep repeating this, but why is Belisle still on this team? Eat the rest of the $3M and plug in Boshers, Busenitz, and Hildenberger in. If this team wants to be serious about winning, it's time to make the easy moves to make this bullpen better - DFA Belisle and Breslow.
  13. It's been completely bonkers. The Twins have been nearly invincible on the road (2nd best record in the league behind Houston) yet they have the worst record at home (yes, even worse than the Phillies and the Giants!). If we can sneak in as the 4th seed and win all our road games (while losing all home games), the World Series will be ours... if the NL wins the All-Star Game, that is.
  14. It's good to see Polanco have a great game at the plate after he's gone into a minor slump. I believe he's got a great bat and he'll hit his way out of this. I'm not worried about him.
  15. Mejia has definitely struggled this season, but it's been less than May's, Gibson's, and Berrios' rookie struggles. I think he could be a solid #4 starter once he gets used to the majors.
  16. Wait, I thought this game started at 7:10... well, I won't complain with a 4-0 lead.
  17. Whoops, it seems I thought that poster was announcing some moves, but I don't see confirmation anywhere. I apologize for misleading you guys! But I do wonder what the 40 man moves will be...
  18. Wow, not only do we get Hildenberger and Gee, but we also get to see Granite debut! I'm glad they've given up on Breslow, so we're almost through with the chaff in the bullpen. Belisle has been serviceable as of late, so I won't ask for his release.... yet.
  19. Are we sure that isn't just a temporary move to the bullpen for Hu? I'm pretty sure he'd be starting for us right now if he was still around, though I'll admit I don't know a lot about him.
  20. What I'm afraid of is having the Twins trading away a guy like Chih-Wei Hu for Kevin Jepsen. Two years later, the Twins are looking like complete idiots for trading away a solid starting prospect who could be in the rotation right now for a reliever who did help the 2015 playoff run but then immediately capsized in 2016. The time will come to become buyers and make a WS run. But that time is not now and likely not in 2017.
  21. Nice article, Seth. I hope to see Busenitz very soon as a Twin.
  22. I've heard a lot of people saying that Lewis doesn't have the arm for SS and he'll end up in CF. It's likely Lewis will not affect Gordon (who might be a 2B) whatsoever.
  23. Something was up that we probably don't know about. Most likely something to do with his signability.
