  1. Never say never. Sano should be playing 3rd and I say he will be some time this season. So far watching him in the outfield is a comedy.
  2. Arcia will be on the team somewhere. He's better than Sano in the outfiield, and better than Park hitting thus far. I'll say though, park looked terrible at first but is looking much better recently. But I see no way Arcia is not on the team. It isn't doing Vargas any good not being here.
  3. You were probably standing by me when Gibson signed.
  4. A lot of us down here watching are hoping Park is working on something, because he's shown squat so far. Arcia is light years ahead of him. Maybe it just takes awhile to get started, and I heard in Korea they train differently before the season than here. No Buxton here yet, but I think he starts in AAA. I do think Nolasco could be in the rotation.
  5. I asked Arcia yesterday how long he'd been here. He said after the season he took 10 days off and then came and has been here ever since. He knows what's at stake and is busting butt, and having a good time doing it. I see no attitude. Today during bp, 5 swing rotations he launched 4 of 5 over the fence. I don't see us giving up on him.
  6. Saw Arcia today and did a double take. He looks stronger than ever. Not that he needed any more strength. He did come out with a trainer who had a tennis racket, and balls. He'd hit the balls in the air and Arcia would try to catch them. Good drill for Arcia, as his first step is really slow.
  7. Mauer's got a chance. Sano probably the next to go in as a Twin though.
  8. I'll grant you Sano has All Star potential, but he can't show that til he gets planted at 3rd base. The other guy will go as soon as some other team has a need, but for now no other team has any interest. So, yes, 3rd base is a need.
  9. I'd give Kepler an even chance to start in center along with Buxton.
  10. I'm with Dantes929 on Duffey. I'm not giddy about anything, but most optimistic with Duffey. We may have caught lightning in a bottle here. Park - mehhhhh. Just a very mild interest. Buxton - I have doubts about him. Sano - Really looking forward to a full year out of him. But can't make any sense why he's not playing third. Kepler - I'm really happy for Max that he's caught on to the game, and hope he gets at least a half year in the bigs and succeeds.
  11. Thanks for that link. I'd never read that piece before. And it described Harmon perfectly, he was kind to all and a real gentleman. I talked with him quite a few times and always enjoyed it. Probably the best instance was sitting on the bench in a dugout with Harmon and a friend of mine who had one of Harmon's first gloves he used in the bigs. Harmon had an interest in buying it back. Me on one side and my friend on the other. Harmon put on the glove and spoke of those early days. I put the glove on, it was a treat.
  12. I've been saying for a couple years that 2018 was going to be the year. It's a couple years out but interesting to think about. I like the fact that we have some young guys with what looks like bright futures. Not all will be as bright as we hope, but then there could be someone down there that takes off like a shooting star. It's also nice that casual fans this last year and moving forward are getting to know some of these young players that are future major leaguers. I haven't paid this much attention since Joe and Jake Mauer signed.
  13. I'm with Nick on this one. May belongs in the pen, at least to start the season, and with a lack of injuries, the entire season. We have plenty of arms for the rotation, but really lack decent arms in the pen. I don't want to see meltdowns from the pen like I did last year. Pelfrey throws 5 shutout innings, Gibson has strong starts, etc, and we can't hold the lead for the last 4 innings. The second and third time thru the order seems to be a wall to often for the starters. Perkins has a huge question mark on him IMO, Jepson I've got more confidence in. A bridge from the 6th to the 9th will result in more wins and just maybe be enough to get us a longer season. Also, May in the rotation would just me one more number for Berrios to have to overtake.
  14. IDK, Danny Santana taking the mound every fifth day could be worse.
  15. I'm with Seth on this, and TR mentioned it yesterday, Duffey will be in the rotation. He also inferred Santana will be in center. He also mentioned he'd be getting another outfielder and pen help.
  16. He also mentioned Santana and wasn't sure why he had the problems he did at SS but hoped being back in center he would get back on track. He also mentioned a lot of guys are doing good in winter ball.
  17. TR was just on the radio with Sid and Dave. Some of the things he said follows. He's still high on Kepler. May will go into spring training competing for the rotation. Hunter could come back in some in some way (not as a player). He will sign an outfielder and relief help. The starting rotation as of now are Gibson, Duffy, Hughes, Santana and pretty sure he said Nolasco.
  18. That's quite possible. Plus he will be throwing the football around with Perry, and you know Perry will have his eyes on Sano's weight. He'll be on the scale a few times a day. That and the fact that other Twins will be there working out can't help but get his mind on the season and off of winter ball. Perkins is there now and will be til around Jan 21st. I can't help but wonder how many 100's of miles Sano will put on between now and the start of camp.
  19. I'd offer arbitration to all six. The total money isn't that great, and I have a handful of cards to work with. IMO Poof was overpaid last year, not in anyone else's though, so he should be easy to trade. I'm on the fence with Fien. Did the injuries really hurt him that much last year or is he falling off? It's hard to say. Poof should bring back a decent bp arm so maybe I wait and see with Fien, or perhaps package him in a trade. I like Nunez, he's an asset so I keep him for sure. It will be interesting in the next few weeks to see what's shaking.
  20. Thanks, that's got to be really satisfying. Hope to see you in Ft Myers this spring if I can make it again.
