  1. The comeback http://www.ronpaul.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/ron-paul-its-happening-animated.gif
  2. Cool. With any luck he'll lineup against Pelfrey.
  3. If I had to guess, the Twins are planning to slot all three kids into the rotation, with Milone being pushed to long man or maybe 6th starter.
  4. FWIW Provus said he'd have the 11th. Not sure if that was a pre-game question to Molitor or what.
  5. Seth, you obviously have a vision for the Adopt a Prospect sub. I for one am lacking in practical understanding of it, maybe you can clarify what exactly you want volunteers to do?
  6. We are almost into May and there are 3 prospect pages, and one of those is Luke Westphal, a 27 year old in High A.
  7. We have that already, BTW, its the EITC.
  8. According to the article, Friedman endorsed a negative income tax below a certain threshold. That is very different than an allowance from the nanny-state government.
  9. Bets on how many different ways Bert will bungle "Stephen Strasburg?"
  10. At this point, you have to look at any trade as a rebuild move, and not as a playoff push move. Exactly 1 of 28 teams to start 0-8 finished >.500, and none made the playoffs. The Twins dug a hole that they mostly likely won't get out of until Apr 2017. So trading Plouffe to improve the 2016 defense would be a pointless goal. With that in mind, give PT to the guys who are causing the bottleneck- Arcia, Plouffe, Park, etc in hopes of building their stock. Re-balance this July/winter for fair returns. The worst thing would be to squander good assets, and Plouffe is one, under the delusion that improving the defense could make or break their playoff chances in 2016. Because it probably won't matter.
  11. He can't hit a curveball, and he doesn't do much with fastballs either. That's far more disappointing IMO. According to brooks, he's batting .246 and slugging .400 against four seems. .237/.316 against sinkers. By comparison, Rosario, who we all know will swing through a curveball just as badly, hits .266/.451 against four seems, and .421/.653 against sinkers.
  12. People resent the implication that their freedom to conspicuously consume might be compromised, I think. That fear drives the blindness towards the facts. People are also short-sighted. As I see it, society will either need to become enlightened and through free will quit reproducing and consuming. We get to retain our freedoms that way, but I ain't holding my breath on that outcome. More likely, IMO, is people continue to think in the short term, reproduce and consume at will, and global agreements must be made that compromise reproductive and consumption freedoms. And a whole lot of toes get stepped on, resulting in god knows what kind of conflict.
  13. I take that back, he was rostered in Nov 2014 so this is only his 2nd option year.
  14. NASA's global land-water temperature data is breaking records on almost a monthly basis. February 2016 was the most unusually warm month- 1.34 degrees C above the long-term average. You can see on the table that the previous record was set the month before, and that March 2016 came very close to breaking it again. http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/tabledata_v3/GLB.Ts+dSST.txt So the earth is warming, and its Earth Day, so why not talk about climate change. What are members' thoughts on this topic?
  15. Earth Day- Any suggestions for how to freely (or cheaply) cut down on one's consumption?
  16. I would not be surprised to see this happen either. Not permannently, but maybe for a while, for a number of reasons 1. Molitor likes Rosario, that's obbvious (and there's a lot to like). 2. To my eye, in a tiny sample, Rosario doesn't look overmatched in CF. 3. Sano and Arcia need to play, and right or wrong the only spots for them are in the corners. 4. Kepler has looked comfortable at the plate. Seems to offer some OBP. 5. Buxton has looked overmatched at the plate.
  17. I wonder if people know how hard Prince could rock when he wanted to. The dude had a huge sound with the guitar, case in point @ 3:20
  18. Well he's a Sconnie, but, winnah!!!!!
  19. Murphy 0-5, 11 men LOB. That's gotta be sa record.
  20. At least we get to play the punchless Nats lineup after this. An extra day of rest for May would likely not factor into his fortunes against them.
  21. Side note, Phyllis Kahn is on her way out after 44 years. She had some cooky ideas but one of her accomplishments was pushing through same day registration, I'll always give her credit for that. We should want people with lives to be the ones deciding elections. Not the folks who have aligned themselves to a party months (more likely years) in advance.
