  1. Is that based on any research or just personal preference? I would be curious to know. I know there was an article written a few years ago on fangraphs that looked at "inconsistent" pitchers including Liriano, and the conclusion was that streakiness amongst SPs was actually preferred to consistency. I wonder if the same is true of hitters.
  2. I just can't get worked up over a 2 month stretch of .670 hitting. Yeah its not great but that's just baseball. You get hot, then get cold. Its where you wind up that matters more. If he finishes the year batting in the .718 range again I'll be complaining but he could easily get hot again and wind up in the .775 range which would be fine. Also, Mauer's glove is solid IMO. He regularly makes difficult plays look routine, eg. the over the shoulder catch last night.
  3. Steve Stone, "As good of footwork that Suzuki has, he does not have an overpoweringly strong arm."
  4. The Riverlands are going to be interesting. Arya is there, with a mask, her destination "west of Westeros." But checkout the names left on her list: The Hound, Cersei, the Red Woman, Beric Dondarrion, Thoros of Myr, and Ilyn Payne The Hound, Beric, and Thoros are in the Riverlands, and the Red Woman is heading south. Doubtful that Arya wants the Hound dead. His desire for revenge combined with Arya's list seems to make them natural allies instead against the Brothers Without Banners/Lord of Light people. Nymeria's superpack was said to be in the Riverlands too. And I forgot this but in Dance with Dragons (ch 3), Jon has a dream that he is Ghost, and being called by his sister "with many cousins" from the Riverlands...
  5. They should all be dead-Syrio, Blackfish, but then we were lead to believe the Hound died in the Eyre and we all know that didn't happen. So now we can't really trust any off-screen stuff. Kind of a cheap trick if you ask me.
  6. How quickly do you think a replacement GM, from outside the organization preferably, would be able to reorganize, learn the organizational strengths/weaknesses, hire/fire staff, etc basically to get up and running? Could he do it before winter meetings?
  7. Yeah, there are no TR supporters left. Not in the fanbase or the media. Its unanimous. So it has to happen, Pohlad will have to fire TR at season's end. Which begs the question, why wait?
  8. Landa in June- 6G, 7.0IP, 3H, 0ER, 0HR, 3BB, 10SO. 67%GB Landa has always worked on 2 days rest or more in June. He hasn't surrendered a HR for the year.
  9. Another guess, Sansa's gonna give it to Littlefinger one way or another. Her experience with Ramsay was crystalizing. And now that she seems to be a player she'll leverage Baelish's crush on her for (further) Stark gain, then betray him as revenge for being sold to Ramsay.
  10. I don't think Jon would even need to be made aware. The only one who knows is Bran. And even if he found out, there could develop a reason for marriage that outweighs any misgivings. Like maybe, unifying the realms against King Koopa.
  11. Now that we know Jon is half Targaryen, he has to be the lucky guy to marry Dany, right? Conquer the south with dragons, take the north through marriage. I wonder if Bran will have to counsel Jon and/or Dany first.
  12. Berardino wrote that last fall. May relieved this spring, got the back spasms again, and now... what? Back to relief?
  13. He's like a harder throwing version of Pelfrey. Really nice FB and absolutely zero conviction in his offspeed stuff.
  14. LOL. I love the 3 HRs after two failed bunt attempts, and possibly a failed H&R. Just get out of the way Molitor.
  15. Man, watching these TIX broadcasts really illustrates the difference in market/media. Jirardi has a DAILY pre-game presser where reporters grill him about "why is the team only .500," "why did you send down Davis," "should you be buyers or sellers," etc.
  16. Sometimes those PTBNL turn out okay. Its how we got David Arias.
  17. I'm guessing Dick or perhaps the poster confused teams. The 1992 Padres went 82-80
  18. TIX announcers are talking about how the Axman is the Twins MVP
  19. Let me tell you how it will be All teh hits for me Cos I'm the
  20. Ha, PIX broadcast goes from "lot of people think Dozier messed up his swing trying to hit 30 home runs" to "he has one of the best speed/power combos of any 2nd baseman."
  21. Since the Twins DFA'd Arcia, Grossman is batting .200/.286/.240
  22. I wonder if there is any chance a James Shields-Neil Allen reunification could work out. Padres pay 3/38. Swindle Rick Hahn into paying another 3/21. Send back Nolasco or Santana, in return we'd get Shields on a 3/9m deal and free up 15-31m in salary.
  23. Gotta get this guy up against the lefty http://i.imgur.com/AW1Jugo.jpg
