  1. I liked it but the escape sequence was a bit anti-climactic IMO.
  2. Peralta looks like a fringey 5th starter that could thrive in relief maybe.
  3. Are there any other Brewers the Twins should pursue? According to Olney, everyone's on the table.
  4. Maldonado frames just as well, doesn't have the concussion, throws out baserunners at a slightly higher clip, has 2 more years control remaining, doesn't have as much bat but wouldn't cost as much either.
  5. Lot of upside in some of those players. I always liked Allard, his curveball in the Perfect Game reminded me of Kershaw's.
  6. Oh snap it is (wouldn've gone 3/4 tho). Here is an actual working link to 2015-2016 over/under win odds. It is a month old already. http://espn.go.com/chalk/story/_/id/13772067/nba-westgate-las-vegas-superbook-releases-2015-16-season-win-totals
  7. http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfxVB/cache/numlocation.php-pitchSel=451584&game=gid_2015_10_23_tormlb_kcamlb_1&batterX=71&innings=yyyyyyyyy&sp_type=1&s_type=3&league=mlb&pnf=&zlpo=&cache=1.gif
  8. I keep thinking back to NLDS game 5 when Collins brought in Sundegaard and he just lit up the Dodgers. And then Familia finished out the final 6 outs. I think Collins will do that again with one or two of his aces before the end of the WS. Prediction, the Royals play brilliant defensively and on the bases but lose to overwhelming pitching in 7 games.
  9. Bad link? Woofies are 26.5 according to a 10/10 line here: https://www.sportsinsights.com/blog/2014-15-nba-win-totals/ Further from the mean (41) than any other team. Easiest bet on the board really (over). See sig edit: looking again, the Spurs, Cavs, and OKC are further. I would bet on those four to regress to the mean.
  10. Right I see. The confusion is with the word "complement" I think. Being on the short end of a platoon, I would consider Zuke the complementary piece. Either way, I agree its likely they do something to keep his PAs under the vesting threshold. IMO AJ seems like pretty much an ideal candidate for the job.
  11. On the short end of a platoon?
  12. I mean, baserunners would run wild, that's a given. They'd have to coach up pick off moves and AJ's framing like they did with Zuke last year. If they can do that, and if his bat is there one more year, it could be a steal (no pun intended).
  13. I think this could be a great fit. One year deal. LH platoon partner. Leadership / instigator. Frost tips. I'd love to see AJ back tbh.
  14. The CS% are encouraging. I also noticed Turner allowed just 4 PBs last season in 97 games. That is not surprising as he is all of 6'3" and broad.
  15. What if Mauer's decline continues or accelerates? Sure would be nice to be able to shift Plouffe over and slot in Sano at third. Would open a hole at DH tho.
  16. Are you going to extend Sano this winter or let it become an in-season distraction in 2016?
  17. I agree with the principle that the Twins need to take the biggest upgrades they can find without bias to making the team look a certain way. If that return isn't in the rotation, so be it. The Royals are showing for the 2nd year in a row that you can go pretty far with a bunch of aging, FA 3s and 4s in your rotation. Still, it will be interesting to see how they do against the young aces in the Met rotation.
  18. http://imoviequotes.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/201-Dumb-and-Dumber-quotes.gif http://imoviequotes.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/202-Dumb-and-Dumber-quotes.gif http://imoviequotes.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/203-Dumb-and-Dumber-quotes.gif
  19. Why isn't reach ever measured, like for boxers? Or is it measured?
  20. A team doesn't strictly "need" an ace to win the WS but it sure doesn't hurt and personally as a fan its fun to watch a stud pitcher take the ball and go 9 innings and dominate. We had a glimpse of that with Hughes last year but it has really been in short supply since the Santana days.
  21. 2/3 of the Royals 3-headed monster is under 6.' Ventura is 6' exactly. Pedro, Johan, Oswalt, Hudson, plenty of pitchers in that 6' range who did fine. Stuff's all that matters IMO and Berrios has stuff.
  22. Agree completely. Gibson may yet put together a nice run of productive seasons but he's never going to be the front of the rotation arm this team needs.
  23. I give the Twins creativity points for the draft-college-reliever, develop-into-starter strategy. Duffey is about the only return so far, but its too early to judge it one way or another. Watching Liam Hendriks hit 98 in Toronto the other day, I do with they were better at identifying when starters should be converted (back) into relievers before they cut bait and lose them for nothing. For a short-term strategy, trade seems like the best strategy to me. A guy like Carlos Carrasco looks like a decent bet to have a breakout, ace caliber year and is rumored to be on the trading block. Or someone who they think has the stuff but has been miscast in a bullpen role or just hasn't put it all together for a full season yet.
  24. Is anyone else annoyed by the word "consistency?" Of course players are inconsistent, its baseball. I doubt the Twins are any more or less consistent than anyone else. That said, the Twins did rank 26th in batting average and 28th in OBP (18th in slugging). They need to be more productive on offense next year.
  25. I see several benefits to keeping Buxton in AAA. 1. It would mean the MLB OFers are relatively healthy/productive 2. Weaker competition would boost Buxton's production/confidence and make it more likely his next callup is his last. 3. Bonus of passing FA and Arbitration cutoffs would save money / increase length of team control 4. The sum of these 3 could make him an excellent trade chip prior to the Jul 31 deadline, should the Twins find themselves in contention again.
