  1. He could be what Farmer was to Julien, a late inning replacement to stop Lee from throwing a game away.
  2. Julein and Wallner are still here so it does not make us worse.
  3. If the Twins had had Gallo and Simmons defense they probably would have won 10 more games.
  4. That means he will fit right in with the Twins.
  5. He is blocking - blocking - blocking the stuck record goes on and on and on and on....
  6. I feel IF he can not have negative defense numbers and at least league average offense numbers, he will be fine and maybe stick around.
  7. As long as he does not throw the ball to the Center Fielder , as Jeffers did too often, he will fit just fine.
  8. Hopefully it keeps Julien off the Big League field for 162 games. Which is a bit bette than the usual make some thing into less good than it is/was.
  9. Twins could sign Gallo and then move Wallner to the pen!
  10. Oh yes, the moaing and groaning here about not doing what some here think should be done will be very loud.
  11. Lewis is NOT good at 3rd, Lee's best fielding numbers came at 3rd. Keaschall looked like Julien in his early years at Second, Clemens did better there than Keaschall. Lee stunk at SS.especially with his small range.
  12. Calvin went through a LOT of players in the sixties , the ones who stayed , stayed because they were good enough to stay. He could have dumped them at ANY time he wanted but HE did NOT. The clause did NOT FORCE him to keep any one. THAT was a team. Do not like it , do not read it.
  13. Move Lewis to First , Lee to Third , Clemens to Second Base and get a good Short Stop.
  14. Maybe. But some sent down to AAA, rookies or vets, for one reason or another stink there also.
  15. They stayed because Calvin thought they were worth keeping,, and he could afford them. You try so hard.
  16. Blame AI, for any errors. - Although - I should have remembered the Twins had Leo Cardenas at the latter point. One of the best glove SS the Twins ever had.
  17. These were on both World Series teams: Randy Bush, Greg Gagne, Dan Gladden, Kent Hrbek, Gene Larkin, Al Newman, & Kirby Puckett, Griffin kept players he knew were good enough to win.Harmon Killebrew, Tony Oliva, Jim Kaat, Rich Rollins, Zoilo Versalles, Earl Battey, and Bob Allison, were on both the 1965 and 1969 teams
  18. Yep, there are too many who come up and shine bright for one year and then after the league adjusts to them ,become, IF they are fortunate journey men players. You do not build a winning team on here today-gone tomorrow talent wise rookies. The twins have had far too many of those, or total flops, in the past decade. 2019 was the last year they had brought in and up a group of players who melded into winning team, only to be broken up quickly. The winning Twins of the 60s-70s and 80s-90 had a group of players who were here for many years, not traded like courtesans.
  19. This site , as a whole, has a lot of posters who use Their prejudice and bias to annoint or trash players. They act as if a dude is their boy not getting a fair chance , or, one of those boys from the wrong side of the rails is BLOCKING their chosen son, or the manager does not realize how wonderful their boy is. Baldelli did not ruin any one, nor was any one ever blocked by another. Skill, or lack of it, is what really matters.
  20. His defense has improved but his throws to First while generally, now, not bounching are still ALL very low to the ground. He is not a good 3rd baseman.
  21. Does not say how you know he is not just another flash in the pan. Many high pick rookies fizzled within two years.
  22. The catching duo next year: Gasper and Pereda
