  1. There is wayyyyy to much unfair criticism on this site. The Lord would say "Child, count your blessings."
  2. Nobody mentioned this, so I will. The Damn Yankees movie, was about the player for the Washington Senators, now the Minnesota Twins, selling his soul to the Devil, in order to beat the Yankees just one year. The Yankees play in a little league park. Screw em. If Rosario or Kepler played there, they's average 50 homers a year.
  3. Honestly, I don't know what gets into me sometimes.
  4. Yeah soon as I stand up for him he looks at strike 3 in the ninth with men on. Why do I bother?
  5. Molitor refused to play Ryan who hit .485 in ST and was red hot. Molly just refused to use him, until he cooled off. Then once cooled off, he didn't play as well, so Molly could justify cutting him loose. Robbie is a different story. Molly liked him. And he was so so for months while the Twins carried him. Glad Robbie caught on in Oakland, but comparing Robbie's treatment to Ryan's isn't fair
  6. You forget. He was red hot and Molly refused to use him until, after sitting with a hot streak and .485 BA coming out of ST, he cooled off while sitting the bench. Molitor ruined the guys chances.
  7. If it means nothing then why did he make the team going North? He came outta nowhere and hit like .480 in Florida. That is why he made the team. So don't tell me it means nothing.
  8. Well, I like hustle players as much as anyone, and probably more, but I think the criticism is overblown. Terry didn't over react and he was borne out by Puig's two doubles later in teh game. No doubt he said something like "I know how you feel, but you are gonna get flak. Do something next at bat and make it up to us." Rosie, same deal. I didn't see the play, but dropped third strikes are often a surprise to the hitter more than spectators and unless the ball gets away by twenty feet or so you have no chance. I'm moving on. There are better things to talk about.
  9. I like the move. Ryan is a decent hitter and was red hot out of ST last year. Molly refused to play him, even though he hit over .400 in ST, so he finally cooled off from non use. Molly lost my respect for his bone head Gardy style of playing favorites. Ryan could come in and give Eddie, Keps and even Buck some time off. I like it. Wade is not the answer and Cave is banged up. Gonzo is not back yet. This move makes a lot of sense. Its a part time job, but Ryan fits as a sub right now.
  10. I think they use the options on Perez and Cruz. Odo is not worth 19 million. Sorry, I like him but we can spend that money in better ways. I really hope Gibson beats the colitis thing. But it killed Glenn Frey of Eagles fame. RIP. That shows it is a serious thing. I suspect he might be taking a year off. I could see the Bum or Wheeler, but not the others. Time to let Busdar, Thorpe and Smeltzer compete for a spot.
  11. I know we have had our injuries too, but Tito has the Indians playing so hard, despite a nearly decimated pitching staff and Lindor starting the season hurt. Sleep on Tito at your peril. They are right behind us. The gap is one bad week away from closing.
  12. Busdar threw what should have been an easy ground out to 2b. I don't get playing the shift against a hitter whose BA is a little above the Mendoza line. This one is on the rookie manager.
  13. I hear ya, but really a lot of what you say could have been said about a young Oliva. Bad ball hitter when he came up, etc. But even with that he was ROY. And you ain't wrong when you say Eddie could be special if he learned the strike zone more. Oliva did that. Sano is doing that. I hope the coaches point to Miggie and get that point across to Eddie. So for me, I'd rather keep Eddie than trade him. But in the end, they will offer extensions to Buck and Eddie and the players will decide whether to stay or go. I'm so glad we locked up Keps and Polanco. If Eddie signs an extension I suspect Alex pencils in at 1B in a year or so. If Buck leaves then Lewis might go to CF. I see this team reloading with new flame thrower starters next year, although Busdar is getting his "welcome to the show" break in treatment. He'll get better. Anyway, I am optimistic for this group of guys.
  14. I agree. He brings the "somebody make a play" quality to the games that stats miss.
  15. Nobody is perfect. But Eddie is a difference maker. You want to dis him for some bad plays, but you are choosing to dwell on the negative. This guy is a winner.
  16. To all those who advocate for trading Rosie..... over my dead body
  17. We clearly have a platoon at 2B and the lefty/righty thing is a valid reason. I thing Berrios needs to sit for a start or move him to every 8th game. Otherwise, if it aint broke don't fix it.
  18. I thought the same thing. He looks thinner than usual. But gaunt is the better word.
  19. Nice job, Nick. Do you suppose the FO had these younguns in mind for September call ups and a dark horse WS shot? Of course they did. And it might even work. Meanwhile, they go back to being starters next year.
  20. Yeah, when I coached and my team was up by a winning margin we stopped running. But we still hit away. To do less is to sacrifice your integrity. The game wants you to try every play.
  21. I disagree. It is not a sport unless you compete. That means try on every single pitch.
  22. The pitcher should have been ejected along with the manager. And both should be fined. And unwritten rules ain’t worth the paper they ain’t written on. I understand not doing a squeeze bunt up 8 runs, but not trying to hit a pitch down the pipe would be bush league, like not running out a ground ball out. It’s a matter of integrity. You try your best every play. Fans didn’t pay to watch you tank a play. Cave had nothing to apologize for.
