    I don't know if that's fair to you. I think opinions are formed by the actions of the team. Perhaps maybe the vocabulary used by the top guys as well? I appreciate that the team has you for sure. Is there anything you can tell us about what you and the other full time people on staff are concentrating on? Or maybe their specialties or assignments? Not looking for secrets, just vague generalities if snything.

    Why do you think a national perception exists? I think locally it exists out of bitterness about how the front office hasn't changed much over such a long period of time (and how the methods seem slow to change), but how do you explain someone like Keith Law saying that? Just curious if you have a different insight into it.

    Right, that's my vibe. And they'd find enough in the libertarian platform to appeal to them. Plus, Johnson just isn't an offensive guy. He comes off as pretty affable, though not particularly presidential.

    I think Johnson's voters will largely be from the Sanders camp and the rational Republicans camp. But, I'd like to see how that plays out.

    I'd be interested to see where Johnson steals his support after these conventions. I think that -1% might be about right, siphoning about equally from both sides.

    It's not surprising, but it does confirm the worst of anyone's cynicism. The DNC stacked the deck (Hillary didn't need it) with some really nasty tactics and rhetoric. Also, Russia seems to be really good at hacking. Seems to me the Clinton campaign should tread carefully about how much they say Russia is behind getting after emails to damage her. Just saying. And the Bernie supporters loudly chastising the party and anyone that supports Clinton should be a very real red flag for the Dems about this election. Remember all that support you were counting on to switch over? Um, yeah....about that.....

    These were all good supplementary moves. The kind that put a good plan over the top to a great plan, but when the core plan sucks they do little more than put lipstick on a pig. I hope we can spin some of this found value into future value, that would be nice.

    I'd take a shot at Miller. Just not for anything anyone has listed here.

    It's more than just the bungled RF move, as Brock points out, there is also the TJ surgery people seem to forget. The guy has played roughly half a season of third base in the last three years. He's also 23. I'd for sure give him the rest of this season, work hard at it with him, and probably start next year with him there too. There is every reason to keep exploring whether he can hack the position, so keep working with him at it.

    OBP and WHIP both measure how often you are/are not creating base runners. You like comparing pitchers and hitters using them too? C'mon. I kind of like WAR and you're making me resent the stat by how erroneously you're using it.

    I guess I'd prefer to judge the guy after he actually got to play the position for awhile. Let's revisit at the end of the season, right now it's not really fair to him.

    The idea was to pick him up and give yourself an in to resign him for next year. I'm hoping we have plenty of opportunities for the young guys by dealing Abad, Pressly, etc.

    These aren't mutually exclusive. The problem isn't Abad and Kintzler like moves. The problem is that it's only Kintzler and Abad type moves.

    I'd be tempted to gamble on him in hopes of a long term arrangement. Meaning, take him, and parlay it into an extension.

    Wasn't sure if there was more to that story that I had missed. But yeah, in baseball you either play or you don't. There aren't practices for you to "earn" anything. Young players earn their spot in the minors, not by playing twice a week in some sort of inane competition. But yeah, I'm sure Seattle would love a do over on that decision. Edgar too.

    And yet, reality doesn't agree with you. If the Twins were that scared of playing Sano at third, he'd be the DH. What they should've been scared about, and somehow weren't!, is what he'd look like in the OF and how much that would hurt his offense. I agree, they never intended to move Plouffe. It's one of the many reasons (but perhaps the top of the list) this team is staring a near 100 loss campaign square in the face.

    What are you referring to about Edgar? That he basically sat around for a huge chunk of his career or am I missing something?

    Miguel earned it plenty in the minors. The notion that you can have someone "earn" it is so misguided. When is he supposed to do that exactly? Batting practice? Team flights? Other than actually getting to play there for long stretches, how else does he do it? This isn't football or basketball where you have hundreds of practices you can use to judge players, Sano either plays third or he doesn't. And, if you already believe Sano is going to win the job, why put him through some faux battle for it? Plouffe was redundant but our FO over-valued him because of his freaking RBI total. That's a real thing.

    There is absolutely no reason for Plouffe to be a Twin past yesterday. So, no, arbitration would be ridiculous.

    You don't make your all-world young talent "compete" for playing time. You give him a spot and trust him with it so that he has the confidence to try and fail until he succeeds. Sending him out to play a position he'd never played is setting up Sano for failure. These guys aren't robots. Keeping Plouffe was the equivalent of flipping the bird to our best young player. And, as alarp said, some of us were shouting that all offseason. You don't sit someone (or shift positions last minute) like Sano in favor of Plouffe. That mentality is exactly why this team fell on it's face to start this year.

    The urgency to move him was to avoid the idea of putting Miguel Sano in RF. We set off a domino effect of poor decisions the moment we decided retaining Trevor Plouffe was a good idea. I could care less about salary relief, trading Plouffe was basically the only way to save the team from itself. And if there really was zero market for Plouffe (a dubious claim, I'd have taken cash for him) - then don't offer him anything in Arb. and let him walk. This board, this fanbase, and this front office WAY overinflated what Plouffe was because he appeared to be one of the few two-way competent players on a team full of guys that often couldn't do either, much less both. People thought he'd out produce Donaldson. People thought we should offer him a QO this offseason. It appears, even still, that our view of Trevor Plouffe still hasn't meshed with reality even if we've come back down just a bit from where we were 9 months ago. But here's reality: last offseason we should've done whatever it took to get him off the roster. We still should.

    I wish, for Trevor May, that we could hit the ol' reset button with a much better GM calling the shots for this season. We sometimes lose sight of the injustice May has been on the receiving end of by focusing on the myriad of other head slapping decisions.
