  1. Well, except for their vote anyway,
  2. I don't think it's a double standard. I was holding Pence and Clinton to the same standard because that's what each of them needed to do. But yeah, this is a battle for the poor white vote.
  3. McCain is an example of a good man that got swallowed by the insanity of the GOP.
  4. I'd argue - is it really all that different than Hillary's expectations last time? Yeah, it's a low bar, but we're dealing with a bar that has been set really, really low this year thanks to the Orange Menace. I don't think last night moves the needle, but Clinton's campaign needs to make sure Trump never gains any traction or momentum from this.
  5. Absolutely, those two things are not mutually exclusive. And I agree with Pseudo, his competent performance could actually be a problem in some regards. Either way, Pence was asked to defend the indefensible and didn't go totally off the rails. That's a success in and of itself.
  6. His job was to (IMO) look competent, calm, and deflect the attacks. I thought, by and large, he made Kaine look worse than I thought he would by doing exactly that. I'm no fan of Pence, there are still many reasons I dislike him almost as much as Trump, but he did better than I thought. I mean, hell, how do you defend Trump? Nothing he could've said would have sufficed. So to walk out there and not get absolutely destroyed against those attacks is a victory in and of itself.
  7. I'll give Pence credit, he's doing his job tonight.
  8. They could've done that weeks ago. Wonder what the hold up was....
  9. It's all a crapshoot. But I'll root for the Cubs.
  10. I agree, I think we could possibly cash in by shopping him.
  11. I like anyone willing to put themselves out there. A lot of people make veiled comments that are vague enough for them to boast about later regardless of the outcome. That said, I think Grossman needs to be on a different team by next year. Ideally you could move Mauer or Park as well. I'd like to see the 25 man roster shake out something like this: C - Acquisition (defensive minded), Murphy 1B - Vargas 2B - Polanco, Escobar SS - Acquisition 3B - Sano DH - Park/Mauer LF - Rosario, RH outfielder (this could be Grossman, but i'd rather not) CF - Buxton, FA acquisition RF - Kepler SP - Gibson, Berrios, May, Trade Acquisition, Trade Acquisition Bullpen - Duffey, Chartgois, Tonkin, Pressley, Rogers, Kintzler, and two acquisitions Too early to fill in names yet for me on the acquisitions.
  12. I'm not particularly worried about our record in 2017. I think any improvement by the pitching staff is going to have to come by way of improving the defense and having young guys step up.
  13. I've been vocal about putting Santana out there. I'm also game to ask around about other starters, I just would rather not be giving up a ton of assets in a bad market. I'd rather be getting the assets for what we have to offer.
  14. The problem is that the trade market is likely to be a frenzy given the state of the FA market. We should be in on it and see what we can get, but I'm hesitant to unload in a trade because of bad timing.
  15. Clearing room and roster space for 2018 isn't a bad plan at all. 2017 is just a terrible time to need starting pitching. We're better off fixing what we can control for our pitchers (defense) and improve that way.
  16. I'd love to bring in Hedges. I think addressing defense at catcher and shortstop would go a long way assuming we have Vargas at first, Rosario-Buxton-Kepler in the outfield, and Polanco moving to second. We could actually have a high end defensive team, even with Sano at third. But those two spots are going to be hard to fill. Best part of that plan - if you do go with an all-young rotation, you give them the best possible chance to succeed.
  17. It's wise advice. This whole thing is going to take some time.
  18. Hopefully he doesn't. I think he might be done as a starter.
  19. Patience. I'll keep preaching it with young players. Just show some freaking patience.
  20. Watch him drive in 6 in tomorrow's game....
  21. I'd rank them DD S1, Jessica Jones, DD S2, Luke Cage. And, for me, there is a sizable gap in quality between Jessica Jones and DD S2. I liked the second season of Daredevil, but it also dropped off in quality when The Hand became the adversary rather than the Punisher. There was a noticeable drop in my appreciation once things changed from Cottonmouth.
  22. I hope we see an organization-wide change in philosophy. And I hope one of the core principles is to be less rigid. Let's find a way to make whatever skill set, repertoire, delivery, or anything else that works for a player work better. As opposed to decades now of trying to mash everyone into one mold that we think works.
  23. Pretty much exactly my take away. Still a great show, but the lack of a compelling antagonist capped this show's ceiling for me. The first handful of episodes were good in that sense, but there was never the same kind of vibe as there was with Fisk, Killgrave, or The Punisher.
  24. Sudden regression wouldn't be very sudden if you had lots of signs it was coming, I dno't think Santana will suddenly regress in 2017, but by 2018 we could be talking about a significantly less valuable performer.
