  1. You Chicagoans and your hot beef sandwiches. I don't get the appeal. (And I miss me some duck fat fries as well. That and Smoke were always must-stops for us)
  2. Hmmm, I thought I recalled it failing Jack a few times too. Those seasons all sort of blur together now.
  3. Same. Not to mention sometimes things do start when I expect them to and other times they don't. Maybe I just haven't figured it out, but last night forced me to realize that the DVR must now be my best friend at all times. I can't just hope to remember at a given time and day.
  4. Yeah, I expected a fair share of stupidity over the course of four years. 4 weeks though? Yowza.
  5. I think that Devos confirmation has driven me away from ever voting Republican again. It's going to have to take one hell of an outlier at this point.
  6. I missed it as well, damn west coast time zone.
  7. Plus it frequently portrayed right-wing thinking as flawed on torture and a host of other things.
  8. This whole story is that incestuous nature of sports reporting I was talking about in the Dozier trade threads.
  9. Yeah, I'm with Mike. I thought it was entertaining. If the show ends up having all those plot threads turn out the way you describe nick, then I'll be disappointed as well. But some of the appeal with me is I really did love the show way back when. I'm going to give it a shot and see if they can't surprise me. I can always bail if it doesn't continue to entertain me, but those are all valid criticisms/concerns.
  10. Westworld was great. Other than The OA I've enjoyed just about every show I've invested time into this year. So far the new 24 has promise too.
  11. I never expected this. I had given up on Granlund, so what he's done for him alone is huge in my book. The guy has totally transformed this team.
  12. And that's a fair point, I know that's a stat people like to point to, but our GF% is pretty damn good too. And that has some good playoff predictability to it as well.
  13. I suspended disbelief for most of the first seven episodes. And I was ok with that, there was enough to like to do so, but the ending was so "WTF is even happening!", so out of tone with the rest of it, so unsatisfying I couldn't possibly endorse to anyone. (Unless, out of some desire to punish themselves, they really want to feel how blindsiding the last hour is.) There was just a real lack of narrative and tonal consistency overall and the last hour lit that problem on fire and danced on it. (Literally)
  14. I read an interesting thing on the shots. The article's claim was that Boudreau has done this before, that he has his team forgo meaningless shots from the outside in favor of shooting from further inside. Which might explain having the second best shooting percentage in the league. This might be an interesting read for you. I think some of this is purposeful and analytics in isolation are failing to see the full picture.
  15. Is he actually good at it though? Sure, it's his primary position, but from what I've read he's hardly shown wizardry there. If you've got a .600 OPS, you better be a wizard.
  16. Ooooh, this has potential. Someone get the popcorn.
  17. Yeah, I don't know how it came to be, but Noah is using the character to tell a story and they are just using the X-men universe to tell it. But Fawley's two years on Fargo have sold me on him. He's simply one of the best writers on television. I love his combo of whacky, profound, consistent and his ability to pace a story. I'm absolutely counting the days until I get to see this show.
  18. My wife and I hated it. The last episode was a total ****-show. It built an interesting premise (if drawn out and full of plot holes), but quickly it became apparent they had no satisfying conclusion to the mystery they started to tell. And then not only didn't they just settle for an unsatisfactory conclusion, they went straight to "WTF is happening right now?....I spent 8 hours for this!?!" territory. Just our two cents.
  19. Agreed, I'd watch it anyway for X-nostalgia, but with Noah Fawley attached? That's a dream come true. Only thing that could make it better is if it was centered on Magneto or something, but i'm guessing he has something absolutely awesome planned with this.
  20. I hadn't even noticed that, good catch. There are times to be vanilla and conservative and this team kept going for a jugular it already had firmly in it's teeth.
  21. Right, they could have lost 3 yards on both run plays, still kicked a field goal, and be celebrating today. That and the 3rd and long, play action deep play call was terrible. On your own side of the field, with 7 minutes and up by 16....why the hell take that chance? You had to give it to them to lose it, just to give it to them. And I agree about game quality. The last 7 minutes were pretty awesome, but the previous 53 sucked.
  22. I'm pretty hyped for it. And the fact that Fox thew like 12 slots behind it tells me they believe in it too. Let's make the X-men great again!
