  1. So does tonight finally punch his ticket off the bench? I'd really like to see a more consistent rotation of Mauer/Grossman/Vargas/Rosario/Kepler in the 1B/DH/OF rotation. There is no reason Vargas can't be staring 3-4 times a week.
  2. If nothing else, I appreciate this being posted here. I didn't see much chatter about it until this thread.
  3. If 200 innings with these coaches in AAA haven't been enough....how much more time do we do it? We keep the kid down indefinitely? When does that justification run out and we either look at incompetent coaching or scrap the plan?
  4. Miguel Sano alone may earn him a statue. And in that one signing Bill Smith badly beat any other addition Terry Ryan ever made with money and it isn't even remotely close. Kepler and Polanco are just icing on that landslide of a cake.
  5. Yes. You did this last year and looked like an absolute clown. So, if you want to pay up for that one too.....
  6. You know, for someone who has been so wildly wrong (and so often) in their blind faith, I give you credit for continuing to step to the plate.
  7. Have you just met this guy?
  8. It's also possible that there really isn't anything there. Despite all the coincidences and the weird vibes we all got, it's quite possible there really isn't any substance to that relationship. If that's the case I'll be a bit surprised, but while subterfuge and shady behavior seems like the most plausible answer to all of those connections, I can't rule out raging stupidity either. And raging stupidity isn't a crime. (Though it should make you unelectable....but I digress)
  9. Right? What kind of rivalry is juicier than just all out war? Drop the pretense and let's get that blood we paid for! /sigh
  10. I'm not necessarily saying right now there needs to be changes (apart from Berrios), what I am arguing is that if you believed on April 1 that the bullpen would be different by May 1, you're moving your goalposts to hide behind "rosters change sometime". And that's fine, but you have to acknowledge that you're moving the target. And it's important to go back and look at why we wanted changes on April 1st. I'm not so sure those reasons (low upside, high downside) have changed all that much. I'd still rather have high upside/high downside than low upside/high downside. And that appears to me to be the choice right now.
  11. Exactly, if you feel like violence is the answer, take it off the field then. "It's part of the game and always will be" is a blatant fallacy as well. Thank god we didn't apply the "it's always been" argument many other times in sports and so many other things.
  12. And in this case, the finger pointing is a diversion because allowing the causes to be looked at shines a negative light on the thing you hold so dear. I predict it's going to take a gay player being thrown at (for being gay, as often the latin players are being thrown at for being latin) for some to change their tune on this whole issue. And it'll happen, probably in our life times. Probably very soon.
  13. I love it when pissing contests are called "rivalries". Good lord.
  14. Well...yeah. Of course. No roster stays the same for a variety of reasons, injuries most of all. But this seems like retreating to some really obvious safe ground and ignores what was actually being asked at the time: The bullpen isn't very good, how long before we call up guys that might be good? The answer, from a few, was within the first few weeks. Well, we're past that and it feels like the goal posts are moving again.
  15. I'm not sure I'd characterize them as "eager". They didn't have to deal him, a viable starting QB always has value. They caught good fortune in what happened to the Vikings. The Vikings were always going to be bidding against themselves. There was no way around that unless they wanted to literally give up on the season before it started. Because Shaun Hill - NFL Starting QB - was exactly that. Giving up. And if they had picked up the phone and tried another team, they weren't going to find any more sympathy. The Vikings gigantic stroke of bad luck put them in a no win situation and everyone knew it.
  16. All of the games have been tight contests. Puck luck in their own crease is basically the difference. The Blues got insanely lucky. As is not uncommon in a 7 game series. We might be staring at Edmonton-Nashville as the Western Conference Finals.
  17. You know what might make me happiest about this? That I'm willing to bet this eats at Reusse like crazy. He's seemed determined to be first on the "Sano is going to fail" bandwagon for awhile.
  18. If no one has noticed, the St. Louis Blues stopped getting insanely lucky. That's really the only difference between their prior series and this one. They'll go home, one round deeper than they deserved.
  19. I'm saying the Boston Red Sox are so tone deaf and short-sighted that despite 24 hours of trying to put the right face on things their starting pitcher still saw fit to throw a fastball behind that darn latin player whose exuberance "caused" this whole problem in the first place. It's so pathetically narrow-minded, stupid, and tone deaf it'd be funny if the the idiots in that locker room (and those that justify their behavior) didn't take it so seriously. Yes, the racists in Boston deserve the bulk of the condemnation. There actions, however, likely don't happen without some butt hurt Boston baseball players deciding to manufacture a rivalry out of their inability to act like adults. And the racists piled on. If that's the kind of "rivalry" satisfies your blood lust, 'grats. It does nothing for me. I like rivalries built on competition and the desire to be better than your opponent. Not on out-slap fighting each other over trumped up slights.
  20. I can't fault them for overpaying for Bradford. They thought they were a contender and they played that way until the OL got decimated. Plus, how can you do anything to fix your QB spot a week before the season when you get a freak injury like Teddy's? The team was in a no-win situation there brought on by nothing more than catastrophically bad luck.
  21. How's that Donaldson vs. Plouffe thing stand? Don't worry, Hicks will find himself again.
  22. "Not any time soon"? Sharpen those pitchforks boyos.
  23. And despite their actions igniting a rivalry that may have fueled ugliness from their fans..... Chris Sale throws at Manny Machado again. WTF?
  24. No one is victim blaming. This is more akin to Trump and a rally. The players, in this case are Trump, and the fans are like people at his rally. And I think the players are definitely emboldening action. Racism specifically? No, but hostility and violence? Absolutely. I don't get how someone with your political beliefs and stated feelings about homosexuality, racism, and a host of other issues can look at this situation and basically do a complete 180. Do you love grown men slap-fighting on a baseball field so much that it transcends all of these other things you believe? Because, man, you go through some crazy gymnastics to make sure no one besmirches the enforcement of the unwritten rules, no matter how blatant, racist, or unnecessary they are. I honestly can't make any sense out of it.
  25. http://i.imgur.com/368s3Mo.png Yeah, but WE PAID FOR BLOOD!!!!! This is the image in my head every time someone starts championing the retribution stuff.
