  1. Torii is essentially a 30 WAR personality as proven over the past two seasons.
  2. I remember when Johan first demanded a trade people thought we could land Kershaw, Kemp, AND Broxton. If Terry were in charge we would get Ruiz and Blanton.
  3. I don't think 2016 Game 7 was better than '91, '01, or '97. I would compare it to Game 7 of 1986. You pretty much had a feeling who was going to win the entire game and only for a brief moment did you think otherwise. I also don't think Game 7 was even the best game of this series. Game 3 and Game 5 were both better in my opinion. But I see all the new rankings have immediately thrust this year's game to the top spot for some reason. I was so riveted by this game that I was flipping back and forth between this and MLBN's "Baseball Seasons" which I've seen a dozen times.
  4. I find him gratingly annoying and do not enjoy his brand of comedy. Plus, I do not care how some celebrity reacts to "their" team's performance. But that's just me.
  5. I have long felt Maddon was the most overrated manager in the game. It is my opinion that he does most every in-game move to try and outsmart the other manager. In my opinion he has made some really awful mistakes such as basically every pitching move to remove his starter in any game, his usage of Chapman, and his lineups. Of course, I look at him as a smug jackass that thinks he is smarter than everyone so I am not unbiased and probably have an unwarranted vendetta against him. I agree, the Cubs won in spite of him. I went back and forth between who I was rooting for all series long. Every time they showed Lebron I rooted for the Cubs. Then they showed Bill Murray and I switched back to Cleveland. And lastly, now that the Cubs have won they are no different than any other big market team that tries to buy championships every year. There is/was nothing lovable about this team. I also think both Boston and Toronto would have beaten the Cubs in 6, but they could not touch the magic of the Indians.
  6. The thing that annoys me the most about Smalley is that it takes him so long to make his point, and then he repeats his point two or three more times in slightly different ways, that by the time he has actually made his point it is no longer relevant.
  7. Less of Blyleven means more of Laudner and Smalley. Boo.
  8. Also odd to see names like Tony Pena, Jr. and Ramon Ramirez (assuming that he's the former Boston/SF pitcher). You would think they would have to be just as good as 60% of the slop in the big leagues now.
  9. Deduno!!!!!
  10. This would have been much better if they called him safe for blocking the plate and then reviewed it for five minutes. Where have you gone, baseball?
  11. Kevin Haessig reincarnated as Kenneth Bone.
  12. oh Maddon you are so smart. You f'd it up in the 5th inning, not to mention the 8th the previous night. Just get rid of managers and let the players figure things out themselves.
  13. I said the same thing. You had a starter go EIGHT INNINGS and then you use five guys in the ninth. Bochy=Black Sox
  14. Bochy just did the worst managing job in the history of baseball.
  15. Having tuned this team out for most of the last six months this is just ridiculously awful, Grossman in particular.
  16. So we're rumbling along at 82 CG in all of MLB this year. Here are some of the excuses I've heard over the past x amount of years about why the pitcher can't go the distance: 1) Pitcher is too young 2) Pitcher is too old 3) Too early in the season, his arm isn't ready 4) Too late in the season, his arm is tired 5) Game is a blowout, no point in running him out there more 6) Game is too close, he can't be trusted to continue 7) It's a save situation 8) Pitcher is at or near 100 pitches 9) Need to get the bullpen some work 10) Pitcher had a previous injury- no point in risking it 11) It's too hot 12) It's too cold 13) Pitcher sat in the dugout too long between innings 14) Hitter from the opposite side is coming up 15) Pitcher makes too much money- have to protect your investment 16) This isn't fantasy baseball- you don't get extra points for complete games What is the perfect storm that would allow a pitcher to get a complete game these days? It really continues to boggle my mind that you would not want to let the same pitcher go as long as he is effective, especially when most team's have shambles in their bullpen. There would not be a need for 13 man pitching staffs if you got a complete game every now and then. Pitch counts have never been proven to prevent injuries. In fact, it's pretty obvious that there are more injuries now than ever before. End old person rant.

  18. The grandest part of this video is still the Castro error in Anaheim, easily the face of BYTO.
  19. so why was our ace pulled after 77 pitches today? Bullpen need some work, Molly?
  20. Funny you mention that. He earned THAT VERY nickname by pitching a stratomatic (a cards and dice simulation for those of you under 30) no hitter in 2008 in our league. Pretty much a legend in our circle.
  21. And let it be known his first hit (likely an over the fence home run) will be against the TWINS.
  22. Every time we play the Royals and he PR I instinctively look him up to see if he has a hit yet.
  23. How many games did we miss out playing Cleveland?
