That may be true but I don't think that's what happened on that play. When a curve ball is spiked 55 feet the proper play is to lean forward, not back.

The utility role that plays 5 or 6 times a week is a very high level role. So long as it's because they are trying to get him in the lineup rather than a who's left role I like it.

Martin is the prospect I’m happiest to see coming together. He fits the roster perfectly replacing the Nick Gordon role with more positional flexibility and options. Being right handed is a nice perk too. He’s also not a guy we are trying to mold into something useful, he’s a high pedigree guy who is trying to get healthy and do what he’s already been able to do. He has significant potential to be a great fit. He would probably play as much as Castro but not be exposed by to much playing time.

It’s the Information Age effect. We are chattering messes hourly over a game that’s meant to be consumed in weekly or monthly increments. Small sample size is the worst way to consume baseball. And that’s just at Twins Daily, sheesh with Twitter. I’m fully comfortable skipping several of the daily random articles that are posted here knowing full well I won’t miss anything of substance. It will be discussed inside and out in any number of ways and I will engage occasionally but am pretty sure I’m not missing anything. Personally I think we need about half the articles with twice the discussion. By the time the premise of the article can be tested the site gives us nasty grams for bringing back an old discussion. Frankly, many of the articles should be forum or blog posts. I may even have a homer reputation as I go to bat pretty hard for the organization and front office but I’ve also lived in several other baseball areas and try to keep perspective. Perspective both on where the Twins are and have been and what other organizations are like in comparison. We got it pretty good. I’ve asked many times for someone to name a more talented 40 man than we have now and the best we have come up with is 1969. We got it pretty good. I make the case that the whole point of this stupid experiment is to get to the post season and get hot. They are positioned as well as any team in the game, now they need the get hot part.

Fortunately they won't be playing KC and Detroit in the playoffs.

Kuechel will be around for a while longer than we may want, but it will allow everyone a little rest one way or the other.

The 5th starter need is to start managing innings and setting up for the playoffs. The typical rotation is going to change in the next few weeks.

At some point they have to put him out there unless they are worried about a long term aggravation of the injury. He has to play there for the stretch run and if he goes down again so be it. I haven't read all the way through the thread yet but has anyone mentioned where we would put CES, Steer, Urshela and Arraez yet?

Its good to preserve his option.
