    He is at the Twins' Spring Training home where he can take care of his lack of conditioning because of the immobility his surgery caused last off-season, while playing baseball and getting his timing back in a non-pressure situation and his mechanics corrected after the adjustments he had to make because of his early season injury. That's my no drama take. Let the haters hate. Not the first black latino that was not liked in Minny. Stuff happens. Crucifying your best player when it happens is inane. Not that different than Mauer's concussion and its aftermath. Other than the race and nationality part (and the $ Mauer was paid.) Period.

    Sure, but a lot of young players are THAT important to this franchise, because a single top player never made a team a winner. Ask Mike Trout, if you don't believe me. Matter of fact, Byron Buxton sucks more that Sano this season, and has been throughout his career, while rated as the top prospect in baseball by most of the pundits out there, unlike Sano. How come there is no biweekly venom against Buxton around here? As some point, one has to think that it might be personal and malicious, esp. in the light of events that happened the last off-season (allegedly) involving Sano and certain people's friends...

    They really have to see what they got in the minors. That madness of holding on to both good but not great players and prospects, until they disappear is getting them into a real problem. They need to clear the roster from players without options at or past their primes (Mauer, Dozier, Morrison, Wilson, Lynn, Santana, Rodney, Duke, Belisle), take an ax at mediocrity (Grossman, Adrianza,) extend the Eddies, and start rotating players with options in the rest of the positions to see what they have. And no matter what resist the dive in the dumpster.

    Too much drama regarding the performance of a 25 year old in 37 games of an injury plagued season and , esp. since Golden Boy hit .234/.271/.332, .265 wOBA, 63 wRC+ in his age 25 season (much worse than Sano, FWIW) Same with Buxton btw. Too.Much.Drama. And way too often regarding Sano. Seems that there is a weekly let's ditch Sano article regurgitating the same things, as if Sano were all that is wrong with the Twins right now. Certain people must be auditioning to be the next Souhan or Reusse...

    SIERA, like xFIP, is a lead indicator, and his predicts that his 1.14 ERA is artificially low and about to regress. So it is hard to use it to describe his performance (other than ground balls, pop ups, fly balls, walks and strikeouts, which are its components,) but it is better to predict the future. One can do that with his BABIP and LOB% :)M Magill has been a pleasant surprise and, thankfully for the Twins, his results have been better than expected (or predicted); however, sooner than later he will land to earth.

    Arraez hit 31 doubles in 114 games in his last healthy season, so not quite a singles machine. As far as comparables go, I think that Carlos Baegra might be a close one both with the bat (from the left side) and with the glove...

    Got to agree that Dozier is "the most important player for invigorating the Twins offense". The faster the Twins get rid of him, his mediocre production, and his mopping about not getting an extension, the better they will be.

    To give a bit of factual context, here are what the Twins' hitters are doing the last week. In short: Everyone whose first name does not start with E has played within various degrees of awfulness ranging from replacement level to pathetic. So eg. sitting Morrison for Kepler or Grossman will be akin to rearranging Titanic's chaises longues...

    Velo is one thing, movement is another. If you look at the pitchf/x movement data, his fastball has flatten out this season, which makes it less effective, and I suspect is partially the reason for the decrease in GB. As far as overuse goes, the previous 2 seasons he appeared in 49 and 48% of his teams' games respectively. So far this season he has appeared in 49% of the Twins' games. Not that different usage in the past. Also, if you look at the past in 2016 he had an xFIP of 2.89, SIERA of 2.56, in 2017 3.85 FIP and 3.35 SIERA, which both are about where his ERA is at 2018. xFIP and SIERA being leading indicators (and sitting at 4.83 and 3.97 respectively right now) does not bode well for Reed. Maybe that reflects the size of the contract his signed, because he is more like a 6th or 7th inning pitcher. The problem however is, the still he likely is the best pitcher in this pen, and that is no small reason why the Twins' pen is 11th in the AL in ERA, 13th in FIP, and 12th in WPA, tied for second for the most BS and L, just a game behind the leader in that category... The pen has an 11-16 record, the rotation 18-20. And Reed has an 1-5 record. And, unlike for starters, L for relievers is a more meaningful metric.

    Here is my take: Sano's issues with hitting are two-fold: timing and mechanical. Pretty sure that he changed his mechanics to lessen the involvement of his injured leg (even subconsciously) and that has an impact on his timing. So getting some place to work on getting that back without unfairly being singled out and under the microscope, is a good thing for him. Why Fort Myers? Free place to stay, plus a whole bunch of newly arrived former DSLers ready to play in the GCL, so he can help them with the culture adjustment and have some buddies. And again it is not whether he can hit quality pitches, it is getting his mechanics and timing back, and he can do that at any level. Now, I'd love to see the Twins do the same thing with Buxton when he comes back...

    I think that the answer depends on how the Twins and Romero are doing. If the Twins are competing for the division and he is one of your top 5 pitchers and healthy, there is no way you shut him down. At some point, when you compete you have to play for today and put the 5 best starters and 25 best players on the team. If you always play for tomorrow, it will never come.

    This is not correct. May is still doing rehab, but switched to the pen for some reason. Were he reinstated and optioned, he would had needed a spot on the 40-man roster. He is still on the 60-day DL. In other words Belisle (who is as relevant for the Twins as David Hale was) is just keeping May's spot warm, unless the Twins have seen enough of Duffey (and his attitude, btw, whining when demoted first time) to DFA him instead.

    This season is very different than others, because the wild card races in the AL, are pretty much done, unless something drastic happens. This will make all the .500 teams non-wild card contenders, which means that all .500 teams and sub .500 teams in the AL East and West will likely be sellers, because both Division and WC are very uphill climbs. As far as the Twins go, the only way to the post-season is through Cleveland. To do that, unless Cleveland falls apart, they pretty much need to win every series against lesser opponents, every series against better opponents at home and pretty close sweep all games against Cleveland. They are 5 behind in the L column and 7 in the W. Splitting series with Cleveland will get them nowhere. Pretty. Tall. Order. But the fat lady hasn't sung yet.

    How about Buxton and his hitting? Or there was no hype surrounding the top overall prospect in baseball according to many? You never hear anyone many questioning his abilities and/or motivation, like they do Sano's. Yes he is singled out, which is status quo for certain people
