  1. You can find my scouting report of Baxendale from last week here. I have been probably higher than most on Baxendale, based on the way he was pitching couple springs ago right before he moved to Fort Myers and his Fort Myers' performance. Radke style is a pretty decent comparison, so is Alex Wimmers. I think that Wimmers and him are on the same boat, and might sail, if they do not perform in AA. Neither of the 2 is really suited for the pen and with RH arms like Burdi, Reed and Peterson and a couple who will fail as starters, there is really no space for them...

  3. I think that he will be better than those 2. I really liked what I saw from him this spring. And he is 33, but with the time off, his arm is younger. Things that I liked is that he has about 4 pitches that he throws for strikes and that he can actually vary his fastball velocity by 4-5 mph without losing command and control. Pretty darn spiffy. If I were to think of what I expect Boyer to perform like, I'd say Matt Guerrier in his prime. And then I looked at Matt Guerrier in his prime's numbers and his lowest xFIP was 3.91. Nah. Boyer will be better than that. Reliable reliever who can pitch more than one inning if he has to...
  4. .253/.313/.362 His second half Splits. Sounds about right. .675 OPS
  5. That's an IF not a WHEN question. Buxton was not ready for AA or the Arizona league. If you had a look at him vs. off-speed stuff this Spring, you'd cry.
  6. really like Harrison, but he is not there yet. I think he will be a late bloomer like Dozier. You look at players like Walker and Kepler and they filled up. Harrison (and Michael and Buxton) still look like kids (like Dozier did at that turn of his career as well...) Not going to be a 30 HR monster (this season). Really.
  7. Graham has the best RHRP arm in camp (and maybe not only right). He is a lock. Thielbar is the one who gets optioned. Stauffer should be Blackburned, but Terry couldn't...
  8. Vargas was draft-eligible undrafted FA (he is from PR)
  9. Molitor has been praising Herrmann and Ryan would not want to risk losing Tomkin or Darnell... Gardy was a Fryer fan
  10. Nah. They don't need Fryer and he cannot hit to save his life.
  11. I will be majorly surprised and disappointed if he did not. 0.84 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 95-97 mph FB (hit triple digits with the Braves) and nasty slider and a serviceable changeup... And got to mention that this is his first time as full time reliever. Was a starter in the Braves' system and moved to the pen about 3/4s into last season and pitched only 8 games in the pen. Best RH arm on the 40-man roster right now, it will be a shame if they lost him. But he is a lock in my mind.
  12. I bet they will be starting in Rochester May may make it to MLB by May
  13. Sure. How about this guy?
  14. To open a second spot on the 40-man roster, which means that Boyer made the team over a LHRP. Not much of a surprise the way Thielbar and Thompson have pitched.
  15. Jose Fernandez and Mitch Garver do. Rainis Silva might be up there soon as well. Garver and Fernandez are about 2 and 3 years away or so. Silva still very raw.
  16. The Mets will not trade d'Arnaud for Escobar d'Arnaud was a top 25 MLB prospect for 3 years before his rookie season and Catching is a tough position. Also was the centerpiece for the Roy Halladay trade by the Phillies. They are looking at him as the second coming of Gary Carter in New York. Also, with Wilmer Flores and Ruber Tejada the Mets are pretty much set at SS and do not need Escobar.
  17. 26 games in Rochester and 1 in MN.
  18. Two slash lines. Pick one: .300/.353/.433 or .231/.259/.308? Couple more: Pick another: .262/.331/.399 or .217/.314/.316? Not.Even.Close
  19. That is something that I have really not paying much attention to, and it really makes sense. If May is stretched to 60-70 pitches by opening day (and if he was up to the 40s by that start, cannot see him getting much higher by OD,) he cannot really be ready to produce in the majors. Maybe that was a big decision point, but I'd rather see them say it, instead of lying and saying that Milone won a "competition".
  20. From that bunch, Robinson is the best defensive outfielder.
  21. Me too. On the hoping part. (Not hopping) But Ryan does not trade young(er) minor leaguers and that it what should be happening right now...
  22. But it might be the final nail in Ryan's coffin, so 2016 might be different...
