  1. 12-6 Typo.
  2. He has 2 "curve" balls. A 12-5 aka the "overhead drop" and a faster 10-6 aka the "roundhouse".
  3. At least they extended only two out of three (Ain't bad.)
  4. Always fun to see these lists. One of the things that Gleeman does differently than most of the others who make prospect lists is that the risk factor is pretty important to him when constructing those, thus you will see some low risk but low ceiling picks ranked higher than in other lists. That's why you see Lachlan Wells being that low and O'Rourke even appearing in a list... Great to look at all points of view. I think that they are all valuable in examining the Twins' system.
  5. At least the Padres drafted him in the 28th round; not impossible to see him in AZ for ST with them one of these years There were more red flags about Manziel pre-draft, than there are around the Kremlin...
  6. The thing is that SSS, the drama about his curveball, and all, his curveball was just a tad better than a league average pitch last season. He really needs to get his change going, otherwise the bullpen is probably where he will find a home in the long (and short) run, which is not a bad thing. I'd rather see him in the 7th or 8th inning than Fien.
  7. You should really watch some Kirby video. It shows that some <5'8", >200 lb people can have some vertical
  8. Heck, if someone can put Turner or Vielma in that list, I should be able to put Mientkiewicz. Still in contract with the Twins like the 2 above, still the best defensive first baseman among people under contract with the Twins and likely will hit better than both Turner and Vielma No. Mauer is not average as far as first basemen are concerned, by any metric out there and by the eye test. He is fine in not making any errors, but his range, speed and foot work in the position are way below average. I have not seen Park play, and I have not seen Vargas play this winter, so I cannot talk much about those 2. Vargas was close to Mauer last season (at least he has more range in the position and better instincts) . I'd take Rodriguez over Mauer as far as defense goes for sure, Haar maybe, Hicks not,( I'd take Mientkiewicz over anyone named Vavra, sue me), Diaz no, Minier maybe, Kendrick no. Kepler maybe. Plouffe yes. So Mauer is not the best defensive first baseman in the organization...
  9. I suspect that we don't have 40-man or any roster considerations or any consideration about whether someone can hit or not, because there are not in the OP list Here you go: C Hicks 1B Mientkiewicz 2B Michael SS Escobar 3B Plouffe OF Buxton OF Benson OF Wade That might win about 45 games
  10. So... How does Mauer and his sub-par glove at first belong in this list, if you are willing to put no-hit Turner at C?
  11. Turn things around? Here is Suzuki the last 4 seasons: 2012: wOBA .264, wRC+ 63, OPS .605, BABIP .269 2013: wOBA .271, wRC+ 67, OPS .627, BABIP .245 2014: wOBA .324, wRC+ 107, OPS .727, BABIP .310 2015: wOBA .269, wRC+ 66, OPS .610, BABIP .265 2014 was an aberration and the root cause of that aberration is up there in bold. 2015 is who Suzuki is. Nothing to turn around. He was at his normal levels with the stick (despite the fact that he got an extension after a season that an aberration and Ryan bought high...)
  12. Look forward to seeing Melotakis have a great Spring Training and making the team. Missing a season plus with TJ surgery potentially might seem a downside, but he came back strong. JT Chargois is on the same boat as well (from the starboard side). I'd rather see younger guys make the team than retreads for many reasons...
  13. Carlos Quentin? Nah The Twins signed Quentin Tarantino to document the battle for their bullpen and outfield this Spring and make a movie (or two) about it...
  14. Definitely a great cause to support. Wishing Rod C the best. He is a fighter.
  15. That is an interesting question. Mike Napoli, Craig Biggio and Carlos Santana are 3 examples I can think of quickly. Santana had no problem making the transition, Biggio improved a ton right away and Napoli was better the year after the transition. With the bat. Any others one can think of?
  16. This is another example for TR's deficiencies as a GM and his aversion of selling high on young players. To anyone who followed Santana through the years it was obvious that his ceiling is that of a utility player in the majors, so after that one over his head season, he should had been out the door, before they will be forced to lose him on waivers when he just is not good enough to make the team. OF defense really killed them in 2014 and no, Santana was not adequate at CF any way you cut it (all metrics out there were negative/below average). He was better at CF than (lets say) Parmelee or Cuddyer were, but no. A centerfielder he is not. Can he become one? The problem is that right now he is not even close to being a decent utility player, because you have 2 kinds of those: The ones who are really good with the glove and not good with the bat (think of LNP) and the ones who are good with the bat to be able to forgive some deficiencies with the glove (think Zobrist or even Nunez.) Santana is neither. His glove stinks and his bat is suspect. I do not foresee his glove improving much, so if his bat improves (like it did at AAA last season,) he will be fighting with Nunez for a job... Just don't see it.
  17. Well... Duffey and Rosario were never in that list (never were top 100 prospects in the MLB.com list) and May came off in 2013 (was #54 in 2012...) This is the year after only Sano came off the list (Meyer and Stewart too, but they are eligible...)
  18. I'd take Pags over Pavano any day ! Way to go guys!
  19. Interestingly enough, last season he had his career best FIP. He is 33+ I'd rather see what Pressly can do.
  20. Well... What this means is what some of us have been talking about for a while: Danny Santana's ceiling is that of Utility Player. So now the Twins make it official. Danny will be the new Denny. All good with that.
  21. Is Pavano still coming? He just cancelled Twinsfest for family reasons. #AmericanIdle.
  22. LIttle too premature. Should have probably come out the day of the first exhibition game with the Nationals before the season started...
  23. He throws left-handed. Can he pitch?
  24. Due diligence. Got to do it. Plus at the end it will help the players' defamation lawsuits against those allegations if proven fabricated...
  25. About time Great Jerseys and I hope lucky.
