  1. I'm glad this thread got started. I almost forgot Maysie and Meyersie existed.
  2. At this point, I'm just glad he's on the field. His results this year haven't been great, but he also jumped in mid-season. I'll be more interested how he responds to this season, and the suspension. He is still a great talent.
  3. Parker, you are immensely valuable to this website. That foot placement also would force him to hit the top part of the ball, resulting in less power and a higher average. I don't really like it, because a closed stance doesn't allow you to fully open your hips and square a ball up. At some point defenses will adjust. Still, if he can continue his plate discipline and maintain a nice OBP he will be worth his contract.
  4. Nunez is gone after the year IMO. They already have Plouffe and once Sano is up Plouffe will move to a utility role most likely.
  5. I thought Seattle was getting Smyly? Pretty disappointing if the only trade the Twins make is Fuld.
  6. Pino can catch too? Love the versatility!
  7. Please no. The Twins have enough average starting pitchers....
  8. If they get a WS tittle out of it, I'd say it was well worth it. At this point, they are going to be extremely tough to beat.
  9. It doesn't work like that anymore.
  10. You mean too many mediocre starting pitchers. I had no doubt that I would say that.
  11. They did for Hicks.... and he had no indication he could handle it.
  12. Who is the next to be dealt? The Twins might make more trades today than they have any other deadline.
  13. And so it starts. Today could be a pretty interesting day. Stay tuned yall.
  14. There is a difference between trading for a back of the rotation starter and drafting them. I would be fine trading any pieces we have for an average MLB starter. Seriously. Might as well get value from these guys.
  15. Worley is a bum. He is going to get pounded in no time. I don't care how well he does for 8 starts. There is no way this guy keeps it up. I really don't think its hard to defend the Twins about releasing a guy that blames a bad start on the wind. **** this guy. I can't wait until I can revive this thread after a 5+ ERA.
  16. Have to remember blackie got paid pretty well to pitch in Rochester. I could see the same happen to pelfrey next season.... especially with a new gm. No way a trade with the Astros makes sense. The twins don't have the pieces for this. Unless they cash in on Santana or escobar, which I wouldn't be completely against.
  17. How can you say this, without considering the exact opposite? Had he been given adequate time to adjust in 2013, would we have seen him pitching this consistently well at the beginning of the season? If you ask me (glad you did BTW), I say yes. I believe there is an adjustment period for all players with some being longer than others. How well Gibson pitches obviously doesn't matter to the 2014 Twins, but that isn't the point. The point is maximizing value with your commodities. No future success of Gibson will ever convince me the Twins "did the right thing" in leaving him in AAA for 2 months longer than they should have.
  18. They were going to give him a rest anyway.... probably should have been a start sooner. Lets hope for the best. Shoulder injuries can be tricky. Good news for the Twins is that Alex Meyer responded well this season to whatever treatment they did for him in 2013. At least JO has that going for him. On a side note. This is one of the things KLaw had against JO. For all the hate he gets around here (justified for being arrogant at times), he does call it like he sees it. Hopefully this is nothing and JO will only miss a couple weeks and finish the year strong.
  19. I didn't realize garver is crushing it this season. That gives me hope after pinto. If he fails there are guys coming up with talent.
  20. I think the plan is to only allow Meyer top pitch in the playoffs. That way he is like a secret weapon.
  21. It's too bad about him. I really hoped to see what he could become. Injuries simply killed his career.
  22. I like the edge that arcia has. He is a competitor.
