Exactly. Tyler Johnson was terrible in the amount of game I watched. New Mexico state might be beat by St John's. They are horrible. It is too soon to be overly critical, but the gophers just didn't look fundamentally sound. The offensive gameplan looked amateur. I feel like this is how the team looked last year too. I'll definitely wait until I see more, and they've played a few games before sticking the fork in them.

Anyone watch the game last night? I caught a bit of the first quarter. Really unimpressed with this squad. Winfield is a stud, the rest are meh. Good luck beating a big ten team.

I'm afraid our rocketpig is no longer friends. Gone are the days of word filters and wrecking havoc in forums for the delight of chaos. On another note, my hometown decided not to use this https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.urbandictionary.com/define.php%3Fterm%3Dthunderbear%26amp%3Dtrue as a mascot name because of the definition there. It was created after the announced name caused many in the community to be upset.

A different type of failure in our system. Sometimes people fall through the cracks. I'd argue if our system was structured differently, and put more emphasis on jailing people that are a harm to society, these types of things would happen less. This guy obviously needs to be in jail, and might not ever be rehabilitated. I still think, even this guy could change his life around at some point. Obviously, time spent in jail wasn't helpful, but I'd say it wasn't enough, and the crimes committed should have given him a ticket back immediately.

Seriously. Health care, and gun reform. We have to do better in order to keep this from happening.

A memorable leader, with a legacy that will not be forgotten. A true American hero died today, and it brought me to tears. I wish we had more people like John McCain leading or country, but the reality is we do not. I could say so many things about this man, but others will do a much better job in books. I did not agree with everything he did or said, but I can tell you, I trust he was doing what he felt best for me.

Nice point ash. This topic doesn't get a whole lot of ink, but maybe it should. I think we need to start having these conversations in order to move forward and reform our system. What we're doing isn't working, and the less we talk about it, or argue about it, the less effective it becomes. The advent of prisons for profit has to be an incentive for what have today. People getting paid... legally... for murder? Unless the person is in our collective unrehabilitatable category, how could you as an employee kill that person? That job description makes me sick to my stomach, and reminds me of some hunger games ****. What the **** are we doing?

I do live in Iowa... but ring wing friends of mine are way more concerned with border security and the"illegal" that has lived in the states ate over 5 years. This story seriously couldn't have come at a better time for Trump.... Which does make me suspicious. I mean, if I was to create a diversion to my base, this is the bloodiest meat possible. I do feel heartbroken for this girl and her family. I also feel like her death is going to be used and twisted into a disgusting message.

How bad would Obama beat Trump in 2020? I'd seriously pay money to watch Trump debate Obama... then to watch faux news twist themselves into knots afterward.

Very true. I think it is being abused as is. The cases that I believe would qualify, are cases that the crimes are so terrible, and the people convicted have no chance of ever qualifying for parol or being released into the public. There are probably a handful of times a decade that qualify. In other words, people of the Charles Manson ilk. That is a pretty high bar, and I don't know how you could create a legal precedent for that.

I need to do some research on this topic. I read an article on capital punishment in the last few years that was well done... which makes me think it was 538, but don't quote me on that. I also don't feel it is a deterrent, effective, or saves cost. I really wish criminal justice reform was a more important platform for this country. I would have been behind the death penalty for Charles Manson....

So overwhelming opinion is he gets shut down? I'm very strongly in the belief he plays with the twins. If healthy, of course. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'll be extremely surprised if he doesn't play for the TwinS again this year. He needs mlb at bats, not aaa. He has the talent, and has shown he can succeed in this league. -
I officially hate typing on my phone, sorry for the typos. I also think there are times it makes sense... but I'm not sure this was one of them. I really don't know where the line should be, but there just has to be a better way most of the time.

Trade him? Mostly kidding.... Mostly. They will probably CALL HIM UP!!! All kidding aside, he probably needs to get some work in against mlb pitching. Let him work a part time role, getting reps and seeing mlb/milb pitchers. Remember, he'll get his share of young pitchers to hit against in September. That is probably the right way to use the last month of the season with him. -
I'm sure there are opinions on this, so I'm interested in them. Nebraska just executed someone today, for murdering 2 people Albus 40 years ago. He's been in jail that long. I know nothing about this guy, other than he committed the crimes at 21 and was injected with fentanyl. So finally we got around to this guy's execution after 40 years. Why did it take so long to go through with this? I don't think that is fair to all someone to live 40 on death row. That is a lot of money for tax payers to ultimately just execute him. Then I have to wonder, if those crimes are worth are executing. My stance on a lot of issues had migrated over the years, and this might be another example. I get not wanting to pay to incarcerate people, but I have to wonder if we'd feel the same way if there were less non violent criminals in our system.

Anyone listen to Omarosa's tapes? The stories run about the volatility in that first year are beginning to sound true. She was taping conversations... even in the situation room?! Is she posturing for Trump, alleging to him that she has worse audio? I don't see her end game. She already released her book, these recordings are just hurting her character at this point.

Tiger had a great round, -6 for the day and top 3 overall has to feel good. A few good tournaments doesn't mean he's back, but he's playing better than he has in a long time.

Anyone watching to see if Tiger can bring it home? This will have to be one of the highest watched PGA events in some time with Tiger bank in contention. Seems like he is getting back into the groove. I'm glad to have witnessed his run at the top, and if he makes a comeback it will be a great story of perseverance for him.

I was blocked from Facebook today from an acquaintance. He posted about players in the NFL taking knees, and that the league is full of thugs. I asked if they're thugs because they're black? And said his bigotry and racism are making him look like a joke. He owns and promotes a business on this Facebook account. My wife should be on Trump's defense team, because she said I don't know why context he is referring to, and I'm putting thing together that might not be intended. Coming from a woman that is mixed, and has experienced the very blatant discrimination these players are protesting for. Granted, mixed signals happen often on social media.... I'm pretty sure this isn't one of them. A comment after mine said he was a veteran, and still didn't know what they are protesting for.... Which to me, is why they should keep it up. I'm not sure this is a fight the NFL wants to have. That is evidence by the retracted rules against taking a knee. I really want Cowboys players to do it, to see what the backlash would be. Jerry Jones might end up with a completely white team that couldn't compete in the Ivy League.

Writing is in the wall for a slowdown in the economy. I'm reading more and more about what these signals are and how they are predictors. I also am interested to see how the numbers change after they are corrected. I have a feeling Trump would direct they be inflated to show growth and prosperity and then corrected in later months to lower levels. Haven't seen any evidence of that, but don't think it is out of his character.
