  1. I might add, it was only 4 minutes. It isn't like he stood outside for a half hour. It was 4 minutes.
  2. I do like the game threads. Nothing against the baseball forum Brock, just hard to get a word in with so many people posting. I do feel "meh" about a 27 year old relief pitcher that has no mlb experience. Also, felt the same way about Alex Meyer. At some point, you just need to move on with your life. Should have listened to that advise with some ex girlfriends...
  3. Why another football league? Why not a good idea, like a rugby league? American football as we know it is on the decline.
  4. I almost posted in it today. I wrote "meh," in the Chargois thread.... but deleted it. I don't remember the last time posted in that forum. By the time I could have commented on the odorizzi thread, it was already over 10 deep. Without the sportsbar I'd be still forcing snarky comments into the baseball forum and getting naughty points.... here, naughty is slightly encouraged.
  5. When is it? I'm not into hockey either. I've traveled a ton during the last month so haven't been watching Olympics.
  6. That was from 5 years ago! Timeless....
  7. Anyone that was on the fence about the nra before last night, can't possibly support them now. They showed their true colors coming out in public.... It's stained blood red btw. Trump is also saying the nra is ready to do things. Great. Glad the nra makes our public policy.
  8. Wow, the nra ceo is ****ing nuts. I didn't know how bad it was until listening this morning. He just said the right to own guns is a God given right..... I'm also pro gun. The things people want in gun control are widely supported. It's not even close. Gun people are too hung up on semantics. Just try to institute what we know is right and try to save a few lives. Save a few kids.
  9. Exactly. It should also be noted, I don't think law enforcement wants to see easy access to guns either. I was glad to hear some of Rubio's responses. It was also painfully obvious how much power the nra has over him. He even had a chance to spin the nra topic into campaign finance reform and citizens United and he didn't. Some of the students were great, others were to emotional and let the stage get the better of them. All the politicians did a good job. The nra spokeswoman wasn't great. Pretty much embodied what I would expect out of that organization, and that isn't saying much. She argued with students and the audience, she was arrogant in her responses, and wanted to talk at people the entire time. They have 6 million members, and I'd say a large majority thought she was brilliant.
  10. Anybody else watching this town hall? I'm enjoying it thoroughly. Really raw. The nra spokeswoman is getting grilled right now. Rubio got grilled. They are actually answering questions, and the crowd is responding forcibly.
  11. Not quite. He sent it into the review process of the atf... which will take months for them to review, and gives the gop a cop out. I did see the nra sending threatening letters in Wisconsin...
  12. This response by our youth is hopefully turning heads. They are really pushing and calling politicians out. Also, the nra seems to be silent.. Unless I'm missing something.
  13. The parenting thing really really bothers me. Every single year I've been alive, people are clamoring about what parents these days do wrong. Every. Single. Year. Parenting only goes so far. Plus, this kid that just shot people up.... his patents are dead. The audacity people have to blindly blame patents they've never met, never seen parent their kids... A is so infuriating... I just can't. My kids can be very difficult. Some kids, are more difficult than mine, many are less difficult. I do think there is a right and wrong way to raise kids.... but I also know that my opinion is just that, an opinion. I could very well be wrong. Also, the generations before mine, were terrible patents. More knowledge and studies have been done to understand how kids think, and our ability to parent and teach effectively has increased. Blaming parents for tragedies is on my short list of pet peeves... and that is coming from someone that has a specific ideal patenting style.
  14. The pressure is mounting. It's pretty obvious Trump is getting nervous. I doubt it'll come back to him, because I just don't think he has the capacity to pull something like this off. Still, I have no doubt our country will look back on his presidency with regret.
  15. That's what I meant by ominous. This was a lot more than a couple meetings and sharing a little Intel.
  16. The indictments passed out yesterday are most certainly only the tip of the iceberg. No Americans on the list is ominous. The key Russians we know to be involved with the Trump campaign also not included. This wasn't shocking, but it was eye opening the lengths that were taken to undermine our democracy. I'd say it toes the line, if not goes over it, as an act of war. The outright dismissive attitude of Trump towards it is unbelievable, even for him. Trump is again turning this into him being exonerated, which is not true to begin with, and the worst response Americans could have ever hoped for. Putin owns him, maybe Mueller will find out why. People voted for Trump that hate the "deep state." While some of that was vindicated by the dnc showing preference for Clinton, this Russia stuff is going much deeper than I expected.
  17. A friend of mine posted a meme suggesting we put 3 armed veterans at every school. I guess it just gets ignored that an armed veteran decided to shoot people up not all that long ago?
  18. My Facebook feed makes me irate. I haven't got into any arguments yet, but I've been biting my tongue. One friend posted an ignorant meme about how not disciplining kids has led to a rise in crime... This kid's patents were dead, and a family took him in and tried to raise him. Plenty are pointing out mental health plays a major factor in these things.... obviously. And some, are trying to equate an ar 15 to a 22 used for hunting, or even a 223 used for hunting. It is going to take years to change people Being purposefully belligerent.
  19. Were almost a week in, and no discussion? The outcast men's US hockey team lost today. Not sure anyone cares, since you'd be hard pressed to recognize any names on the roster. Sean White is still a badass, might not ever see someone as good. North Korea has ice skating? Olympics are fun, and they handed out a record amount of condoms, so being an athlete is even more fun...
  20. I've already broken on this issue. I'm way past being broken. These parents should sue the United States government for not protecting their kids. I don't care if they win or lose, but something has to change. If this ever happens to my kids, I will lose my mind.
  21. We have to spend money to train and educate people. I'd say Germany is a good example of how you can succeed at that. Their system isn't perfect, but education is available to those that are capable. The next generation of jobs will need to be more skilled.
  22. Good luck on that.
  23. How hard is it to become a day trader at home? What are good books to read to begin learning about the market and all the intricacies? I watched the dirty money episode on valeant and becoming Warren buffet, now I'm intrigued how people making a living doing this. I'm a math major, so numbers and equations fit in with my skills. I'm not ready to start dabbling yet, but in a few years I might be. Mike, we could start a hedge fund with your money lol.
  24. Here's the thing with the national anthem protests, supporting them is about supporting personal freedom and peaceful protest. To me, this issue comes from the same ideology that the colonists revolted against, starting the revolutionary war. Democrats need to walk a fine line on this issue, Republicans too btw. Trump and people like Steve King get too much leeway by their supporters on these types of topics. I can see why some value the national anthem, but I caution against a sense of worship. The national anthem was an idea, it was written by someone. However, I see the US constitution as a much much bigger idea, and way more powerful. Just like the flag, I can take it or leave it. They are symbols. They can be destroyed and remade. These assaults on personal freedoms are real, and are the real threat to the constitution. I don't agree that democrats are in the wrong on this topic, among others. People also thought Lincoln was wrong on slavery too. The population as a while is moving more liberal, but there are still vicious opponents of some social ideas that paint all democrats as demons. The "morality" card used against republicans doesn't find as much traction. Franken resigned over his allegations, before they ethics committee even investigated it, but Roy Moore almost won a Senate seat, and Trump was voted president.
  25. If I had cash...
